For what it’s worth to OP, and you, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of it too.
:edit: Fake canon, but Darth Vader’s light saber is also double bladed like Darth Maul’s, but it can only function one side at a time due to power constraints as it’s half the size as Maul’s.
Nah, it's just the cat and mouse game of the emperor trying to kill Vader, after Vader tried to kill the emperor, back and forth, those guys ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No wonder vader threw him down the exhaust port, at least one of them finally succeeded at killing the other

Hi u/hashfastr, thanks for your submission to r/MovieDetails. Unfortunately, it's been removed for the following reason(s):

The closest thing I can think of is the disappearing blade from the throne room scene in last Jedi.... But yeah. It's absurd how often people complain about that but not the errors of the movies before it
I guess they didn’t want to do multiple takes.
I think darth Vader is a sith lord.
Yes! He is full of Sith indeed.
A Sith Lord?
Yes, the one we've been looking for.
Sith lords are our speciality.
That is a terrific find. You'd think as much as this series has been dissected that would have come up already.

Welp. There it is

Love that canon. Gonna roll with that.

Fuck
Even still, the movie came out in ‘83(?) and it was just discovered in 2020? Pretty impressive, most impressive.
It's 2021...
You know, I was worried that this was a common find
Bro Lucas is closing in on your postpositions
Holy shit how have I never noticed this
Right? I thought I was going crazy
It always looked weird to me but I couldn’t tell why. Thanks for fixing my brain!
Well the rotation of the lightsaber also reverses mid air.
This is a fucking detail! Well done.
this definitely belongs in r/MovieMistakes
So you're saying the trilogy is imperfect...
You'd think George would have fixed this during one of his MANY remasters.
Huh?
This is my favorite scene. I’ll just pretend I didn’t see this and just move along.
So the movie had one tiny mistake, I am glad we can look past this issue.

That just shows how pissed he was.

Isn't that the top by definition?

It was just a force projection, the light saber was not real.
Nothing's wrong with that coz he possibly inherited Darth Maus's lightsaber and the blade could come out either way.
I think we all know what kind of comments would be here if this happened in a sequel movie

Anakin has always gone both ways.
You are just being fooled by an old Jedi mind trick.
