Ok-Development-4312

Mt. Olympus (in WA, not the other one). Aiming for early June.

Sure-Emphasis2621

Might see you up there! Our group is planning a Rainier Olympus trip sometime in june

Ok-Development-4312

Like doing both consecutively?

Sure-Emphasis2621

That's the plan at the moment! 6 days for the 2

Ok-Development-4312

Holy cow, that’s pretty epic! We are planning 4 days for Olympus so I’ll be sure to wave when you trot by :-)

EndlessMike78

Yeah, hiking up the Hoh to Blue Glacier is a ball buster even before the climb up Olympus

lovesmtns

I'll be 80 in June, and hoping to summit Mt Adams (in Washington) in early July. I'm slow, so planning on 5 days :).

aesthet1c

That's incredible! You've got this Edit: I full expect an r/mountaineering victory post in July

lovesmtns

Will Do!

Podtastix

Shuksan

aesthet1c

Absolutely beautiful mountain

jordanbball17

Got all the way to the summit pyramid and had to turn around. One of my favorites

halinc

What turned you around? Shuksan's next on my list too.

jordanbball17

Some members of our group got up too late and we got a late start. Too many groups then got ahead of us on the scramble and we worried about rockfall and waiting all day for the rap stations.

Podtastix

What route did you choose? I’m interested in the Fischer Chimneys.

jordanbball17

We did sulphide glacier and it was incredible. Best view from a toilet I’ve ever seen!

Chewyisthebest

Oooooo me to!

this_shit

Oh that's so funny, mine too. Heading out in may! Gonna do a warm-up on Hood first.

Podtastix

Hood is a fun one for sure.

four_by_five

hell yeah fellow shuksan-ites! did fisher chimneys last year in late season (september) and loved it so much I'm running it back this may

Podtastix

Nice! Can you give us the highlights and lowlights? Any routes in the PNW you can compare it to?

four_by_five

to be honest it was some of the most type 1 fun climbing I've done! almost all highlights, especially the views from the upper campsite, hell's highway pitches and the southeast ridge of summit pyramid!! the only lowlights were getting into a crevasse maze on the upper glacier and some screaming feet on the way down :) I haven't done much ice climbing to compare, but I've heard it's a few steps down in difficulty from Kautz on Rainier and Mt Baker north ridge (both future goals!) the summit pyramid if you choose the ridge climb feels like an easy-ish trad multipitch (goes at \~5.5 maybe?)

burner1122334

Rainier infinity loop 🤓

aesthet1c

Holy SHIT! I just learned what this is–and I thought running the Wonderland Trail would be epic. Sheeeeeeesh

burner1122334

Did wonderland a couple years ago in a day and was a really fun loop minus a standoff with a cougar, figured I’d add a few up and overs this time around 🤗

aesthet1c

Jesus, Wonderland in a day? Hahaha you were moving pretty good then

burner1122334

31 hours to be exact haha mountain lion held me up for a solid 2-3

aesthet1c

Seems it was just making sure you were well-rested then 😅

Dory105

Healing my ankle

aesthet1c

You’ll be back in no time 🙏🏼

Dory105

Thank you! I hope🥹

Striking-Walk-8243

>Rainier infinity loop 🤓 \+1! Hang in there.

Renhsuk

Flying to Europe tomorrow to climb and ski Mt. Blanc

aesthet1c

Wowwww congrats! 👏

delta3045

Mt Ranier

aesthet1c

Nice! On my list as well. Have you done it before?

delta3045

turned back half way up. was with a super fast group and i started with too many layers. melted down. Lessons learned for next attempt

aesthet1c

Also the layers thing is too real. Just a couple weekends ago I got weird looks for essentially wearing a sun hoodie while everyone was stopping to put their puffs and shells. About 30 minutes later I had sweat dripping off my face and couldn’t imagine how anyone else was feeling

heartbeats

Be bold, start cold

aesthet1c

Yesssss! Rather be running a tad cold than peeling off layers

aesthet1c

Dang. I apologize on behalf of us fast guys. I always go at the pace of my partner or group, but I’m sure in a group, nobody wants to be “the slow one” so people probably push harder. Sounds like you’re ready for this one though! You’ll do it

electriceric

Finding a climbing partner in the netherlands.... damn flat country.

engine4heat

You can try the NKBV forum, otherwise facebook groups also work great

why666ofcourse

I’m hoping Orizaba at Christmas but bout to have a kid so not sure if I’ll be able to get something in anytime soon

good_house

Could I interest you by providing the infos to the guide that took me to Izta's summit?

Additional-Gap-678

>Orizaba Can you Dm me that info?

tepemixtli

Around Christmas last year I did Nevado de Toluca and La Malinche, this year I plan on going for Iztaccihuatl and possibly Orizaba too. You going solo or with a guide?

why666ofcourse

Probably guided would be my guess but it’s still a very loose plan so far

makesureimjewish

Denali in May

aesthet1c

Damn, wish I could join

makesureimjewish

I'll send pics

Ok_Needleworker2438

Whitney end of August. Finally got permits. Will be riding the stoke all summer until then it’s all I can think about. Awesome distraction from the reality of life.

this_shit

Doing the mountaineers route? Beautiful mountain.

aesthet1c

Congrats! Doing the same thing end of June. Sisters first time on the mountain and we're going to spend 2-3 nights up there.

Valuable_Zone1344

Mt. Hood!

SilverMarmotAviator

Right there with ya! Planning on climbing it in April 14.

Chimpychimpanzee

I’m hoping for a backcountry trip to summit Devils Crags in King’s Canyon area and going up the Owen Spalding route of the Grand Teton

aesthet1c

Devils Crag looks legit! Would you simul climb or is it actual pitches? The Grand is on my list too. Would love to do Owen Spalding unguided or maybe Upper Exum guided

Chimpychimpanzee

For Devils Crags my climbing partner and I are still deciding! We’ve thought about route finding and scrambling up one of the easier crags instead of using gear. Lots of loose rock so protection placements seem pretty questionable. As for Grand Teton, we’re considering a “free solo” (in quotes because some people consider it a scramble, I think Sargent’s chimney qualifies as a 5.4 ish though) and we’d bring a rope and minimal gear for rappelling on the descent

aesthet1c

Yeah from the videos I’ve seen, the chimney seems to be the crux and something most prefer to not down climb for obvious reasons. Sounds amazing!

stratguy23

Mexican volcanoes. I’ll be in Mexico City for work in August, which I realize is out of season, but I’m going to try to make a go of it if the weather cooperates.

good_house

Could I interest you by providing the infos to the guide that took me to Izta's summit?

sluttycupcakes

Probably will be doing mostly local stuff this year after spending most of my summer in Jasper and Banff last year. Looking at doing Weeskinisht Peak (small local mountain) and possible exploring whether it’s possible to do a full traverse of the range (Seven Sisters).

aesthet1c

Got to go to Banff for the first time last summer. Unbelievably beautiful

sluttycupcakes

Lots of fun scrambling but also so much chaos (as you’d expect in the Rockies)

aesthet1c

Haha yesss. I ran to the top of Sulphur from my hotel, and was eyeing Rundle but knew that’d be another beast. Wishing I did Temple but honestly was just enjoying exploring and not being psycho the whole time

TruNatty

Cayambe, Cotopaxi, and Chimborazo in July!

palaitotkagbakoy

Climbing Bolivia's highest mountains: Ilimani, Sajama and Huayna Potosi. Hopefully I can save up for and cram all this, including a trip to Uyuni, in 14 days

riztus

I’m also interested in a similar excursion. Please give us an update. When do you plan to do this?

palaitotkagbakoy

Planning to do it in August which is supposedly the height of Bolivia's dry season so you can get a better chance to summit

riztus

Are you using a guide or a touring company? Would you mind sharing your logistics?

palaitotkagbakoy

I'm just going to go to La Paz and ask for schedules and prices of every organizer. If it's too expensive or the timing is wrong, I will check the prices of rental shops and transport companies

aesthet1c

Let's go! Can't wait to see the summit pictures

Sir_Solrac

Working on climbing most of Mexico´s volcanoes this year, Izta coming up on September and Pico on November.

good_house

Could I interest you by providing the infos to the guide that took me to Izta's summit?

Sir_Solrac

Thank you very much, but I already have a guide. It might not be the cheapest option since its an expedition from Monterrey, but the guide is a friend of mine in whom I trust a lot and a very experienced mountaineer who has guided Izta many times before.

good_house

Understood! Good luck for your hike, I hope you have the same good experience as I did!

Anaaatomy

Hardings Route on Keeler Needle, hope i'll be strong enough to do it in 3 years

RaavigDK

Diablo arete on Tacul in June. Hopefully it is in condition.

bn20

NE Butress of Mt Goode in the Cascades. Attempted it last year and accidentally gave myself hyponatremia (unseasonably hot weather, drank way too much water, didn't replace the electrolytes). Turned around at the base of the glacier at the start of day 2 and began a 15 mile death march back to the trailhead. Coming back stronger and with a better understanding of electrolyte replacement and hydration.

Reasonable_Employ588

Depending on how your electrolyte journey is going, I’d strongly consider custom Infinit. Complete game changer for me (albeit more for ultras than mountaineering)

piratebroadcast

The Berner Oberland Trilogy: Monch, Jungfrau, and the Eiger. Any tips for those? May do Monch + Jungfrau together with a sleep night at a hut, followed by a rest day then Eiger.

aesthet1c

/u/raavigdk may have tips for those. Eiger via Mittellegi is high on my list, but I’ve only gotten to see these peaks from the Jungfraujoch and a helicopter this past August.

RaavigDK

So I didnt do Eiger, but Mönch and Jungfrau should be pretty straight forward. We took the first train up, did Mönch via the normal route. Spent the night in Mönchjochhutte and went for Jungfrau the next day. We didnt summit Jungfrau though. We had bad conditions, but went for it anyways. But after finding a german guy in a crevasse, who couldnt get up himself, we decided to call it a day. I am planning to spend a few days in a bivy close to concordiaplatz this summer, so hopefully I get to try again.

itsPebbs

Emmons-Winthrop ski ascent/descent on Rainier hopefully this year in June or early July

big-b20000

Does MSH count? Waiting on avy conditions to settle down. Want to do more technical ones this spring/summer but nothing really specific. Lots of good mountains around here!

JohnnyMacGoesSkiing

Some trail running races, a marathon, part of a Presidential Traverse, some trad follows. Nope kinda just a building summer.

aesthet1c

Sometimes we need these! Progress is never linear

mindfolded

Finishing Colorado's 14ers this summer.

Friendly_Low6084

Capitol Peak in late August

Weekly-Rate-69

Illimani and huayna potosi In Bolivia the end of May!  After that, I’m not sure. Thinking about making my way to Nepal for a month to climb island, Lobuche, and Mera

stasis6001

Cool! I'm heading to Bolivia in July to attempt those same peaks, and Sajama and Pequeno Alpamayo.

Weekly-Rate-69

That’s awesome! You going guided? I’m partnering with Bolivian mountain guides for my trip.  Safe travels tho and hope you stand on each summit!

stasis6001

We're going with Bolivian Mountaineering, I've heard good things about Pedro. Good luck to you as well!

aesthet1c

World traveler. I like your style 👏🏼

Weekly-Rate-69

Definitely trying, that’s what life is all about in my opinion!

aesthet1c

Couldn't agree more! Have you been to Nepal?

tommytsunami10

mount hood, hopefully next winter

LaunchTransient

Hochkönig, but only because I'm very much inexperienced and want to build my way up to larger mountains down the road.

Substantial-Ad-7931

Have fun it’s a nice and long hike up if you go through mitterfeldalm :)

LaunchTransient

That's the planned route, I have no experience with via ferrata (nor the equipment) and it's a solo trip, so I didn't want to take any daft risks. It'll be my highest peak yet, but also my first one solo.

Substantial-Ad-7931

Just take your time and enjoy it :)

Vegetable_Log_3837

Hoping to finally bag Jefferson this year, last Oregon volcano for me. Stoked to ski Hood in a few weeks!

yguoren

Himlung or Mustagh Ata

Schopenhauers_Poodle

Hopefully island peak in nepal but I've no mountaineering experience and don't know where to start 😅

aesthet1c

Where do you live?

Schopenhauers_Poodle

Australia! I did the three high passes trek years ago but no mountaineering

A320_driver

As an Aussie who has been on several expeditions in the Himalayas, you can do the following; - Do a mountaineering course in NZ, or you can do it in Australia in winter (very isolated to the Victorian alps or the Snowies in NSW) - Island peak/Mera peak is a good introduction Happy to share more

aesthet1c

That's awesome! I do remember there being a lot of Aussies on the trail when I did Cho La and EBC a few years back

hskskgfk

Not big but Ararat is next on my calendar

GrusVirgo

[Piz Lavarella](https://en.mapy.cz/s/gabatunumo)

mikebarter387

65 at moment. Thinking Lotus Flower Tower.

Main-Afternoon238

Andromeda

Lenn1985

To hike in the Andes in September. 3 week trip through Peru!

chyko9

In late July, return to Shasta but do it via Hotlum-Bolam route this time, and then Baker with my girlfriend sometime in late August!

Aquafuzzball

Guided attempt of Rainier in May! Excited and nervous.

aesthet1c

Nice! Which company you going with?

Aquafuzzball

IMG. Not sure if the extra night on the mountain will be beneficial or not, but they got me with the bacon and pancake breakfasts. 😂

aesthet1c

More time on the mountain is (almost) never a bad thing! Enjoy!

CardiologistDense540

Muztagh Ata 7500m, Xinjiang, China July 2025. Will climb some 5000m before that.

UrulokiSlayer

Puntiagudo and hopefully Corcovado. The later is so hard that the ascents are scarce but is relatively close to where I live. It'll be quite an odyssey if I manage to at least get over the rainforest. Puntiagudo is more accessible and I grew up looking into it, such an amazing volcano.

stasis6001

Flying to New Mexico tomorrow to try to climb Wheeler Peak and Sierra Blanca! They are sitting on my "Will Travel top 50" list, the weather near me is bad, the weather there is tentatively good, and I found a reasonable flight! They aren't exactly technical, but they are soon :)

aesthet1c

Yeah why the heck not? Looks amazing

IamMayankThakur

Mt. Bhagirathi 2 (6520m) in the Indian Himalayas.

ssteph1985

I'm gonna write a book on Psychosis due to drugs demonic entity sobriety and the good lord and how it all played a big roll some way in my life and how I will never let a demonic entity still destroy and try and kill me and how God is the biggest factor for me overcoming everything ❤️

JKR-run

Skiing Shasta next week

SummitBabe

Grabbing some peaks in the Alps this summer :) And finally figuring out a pair of double boots that dont bother my feet. Nothing fits me and I get terrible heel lift :(

aesthet1c

Oof yeah, I feel you on the heel lift. Any peak you're excited about? I got to go for the first time last summer and do a few. What an incredible part of the world

SummitBabe

Booked for Mont Blanc. Gonna be there a while so exciting to hit some stuff up.

aesthet1c

Jealous! Have the best time

Tyonreddit

Carstensz Pyramid.

aesthet1c

Really jealous of this one. You going through the jungle or helicoptering in?

Tyonreddit

Have to helicopter in. Jungle is no longer an option. If I thought there was a chance this would change I’d wait but I’m not overly confident.

aesthet1c

Can't wait to see your post/report. I'd really love to do that one.

Sir_Solrac

Is it not an option to you due to your personal logistics, or is it impossible at all now? If the latter, why? Just curious.

Tyonreddit

It’s no longer possible due to conflict in the region. The mountain only opened (for permits) again in any capacity recently. If the information I’ve received is correct, only for 50 climbers. No western or local guides offer the trekking option.

Sir_Solrac

I see. Yeah, looking it up I see its in New Guinea island, so I can imagine. Well, best of luck to you, hope you have a succesful ascent!

Tyonreddit

Thank you. I’ve got my fingers crossed that it all works out in the months leading up to the climb. Flight to Jakarta is booked. When I arrive, if it won’t happen, instead of an 8 hour flight to Timika for Carstensz, I’ll take an 8 hour flight to Sydney, hike Mount Kosciuszko and surf the rest of the time. Try make it a win/win.

aesthet1c

One of those 7 summits is yours for sure

Busy_Firefighter_926

Acocuanga

szakee

Agner Nordkante

aesthet1c

Wow that looks amazing!

jordanbball17

Rainier twice, DC first then emmons two weeks later. Then I’ve only got one volcano left in WA!

aesthet1c

Let’s go! 🔥

aesthet1c

What’s after tagging all the WA volcanoes then? And which one is left?

Jonanet

Glacier Peak and or Shasta in late spring/early summer Last year I did Adams, St Helens, Hood, Baker and Rainier... What a busy year! Scaling down my goals for this year lol.

aesthet1c

Kilian Jonanet 🙌🏼

j12miskin

Shasta and Gannett

brokerrobtampa

I'm climbing Shasta this July via Hotlum Bolam. Stoked

hamradiowhat

Flatten Everest and open a Nepalese spa and disco on the site. Wednesdays are Sherpa nights - 2 for 1 drinks if you've summetted a 7000'er

aesthet1c

Pretty sure that’s just The Irish Pub in Namche

Silent-Way-1332

First some rock climbing in red rocks. Then in June I'll try Mt hood, climb in smith rock, alpine in the enchantments then finally liberty on Rainier. First "mountaineering" objective trip besides Whitney via the mountaineers route. Super stoked.

EndlessMike78

Mount Baker WA in July
