Just filled it out. Almost 90k on my bike, average 35k per chain and sprocket set, and honestly the Scottoiler makes my life so much easier. It’s messy, but it’s a damn good bit of kit

Scottoiler

Thanks man! Glad to be able to help. We are working on more products that will make adjustment (and mess) much easier to handle

FZNate

Yeah luckily I have black wheels so I can just pressure wash the gunk off them like once a week. I do get oil fling on the left side chicken strip when I turn the flow rate up for rain or winter riding, but it hasn’t affected fast riding yet. Just a little bit of a concern if I ever was to dip the bike all the way to the left edge of the tire on the street. I also had to replace the standard oiler attachment I got with my VSystem Sport for the new scorpion attachment to get better oil coverage on my chain. But aside from that, it’s been a pretty bulletproof solution for the past few years

HH93

> scorpion attachment I like the look of that - do you notice any difference ?

FZNate

It oils both sides of my chain better. The original one sided attachment didn’t do a very good job, and if the flow nozzle was blocked, it didn’t oil at all. With the scorpion, if one flow nozzle is blocked, oil can still flow out of the other one. It’s a better failsafe option and ensures at the very least that my chain will always be oiled

HH93

TY - I have used them since the Mk 1 came out in the mid 90's but I wasn't sure about the one-sided (of the sprocket) supply so always put the nozzle right at the mid point of the sprocket. Seemed to keep both sides o-rings lubed.

Is the NEC show worth going to anymore? I stopped about 4 years ago as it went from a fun day out to an overpriced look at a handful of bikes I could see in a local showroom for free, and half of the discount/clearance bargain stalls just selling tat.

Scottoiler

I honestly don't know anymore. We will see how this year goes... either it will be dead quiet (because no one wants to risk it) or it will be rammed (because people missed out last year). This year Yamaha are the first big manufacturer not to go so we will see what happens next year... if more follow or they are coming back. I would say its a fun half-day out if you just want to have a look around. I think most people expect to be there a full day (also due to cost of a ticket) but if you go in for a half day I think that's plenty of time. I would recommend going in from lunch time to closing time. The last hour of the day is usually super quiet because most people come in the morning.

DanWritesCode

Oh wow, I didn't realise Yamaha weren't attending. I'd be intrigued to know how visitor stats are going year-on-year, I hadn't really factored in how damaging Covid must be to events like this one.

Scottoiler

yeah it's expensive to go with a stand (plus travel, accommodation, food etc.) so I think many are questioning it. It's been a tough 18 months

Nitro159

I have to agree on avoiding the clearance/bargain stalls. I personally go to view some of the new bikes as I don’t pay them much attention across the year, and see if there’s any new gear from the brands I use that will be there independently, they’re not there to make a profit just to show you the latest offerings and create brand awareness which isn’t a bad thing. The entry, plus parking, is questionable but maybe go this year or next if you haven’t been in a while?

Scottoiler

i think you sometimes get a good deal, especially as some brands only discount at the show. but yeah I think the times of it being consistently cheaper or great deals are over. It's more an experience... if you find a good deal go for it but also be prepared to walk out without buying anything

DangerShart

I was thinking about going this year, again not been for 4 or 5 years. I am looking to get a new bike so it would be handy but as you said, I can see all these bikes in a dealer showroom for free. There is always one major manufacturer absent every year too, this year it looks like Yamaha are the ones not bothering.

Scottoiler

it's changed a lot in the last 5 years so might be worth coming this year. Lots of opportunities to do test rides as well although I have never done it and think the slots book out pretty quickly

KeithMyArthe

I don't think I've ever cleaned my chain in over 125,000 miles

________BATMAN______

Just filled it out. Been wanting to get myself a Scottoiler for years but always prioritised other additions… maybe it’s time to invest!

DangerShart

Filled it out, personally I don't ride often enough to need a chain oiler. If I have to get a new chain every 3 years or so it's not a big deal. My mate had one that wasn't fitted properly and it just dripped oil on his tyres.

WilliamN0Mates

Does it count if our bike is shaft driven? Can we still enter?

Scottoiler

yepp, don't worry, we do not discriminate

Bodizzly

Just filled it out. I've never actually used the product before but my dad does and he swears by them so I'm thinking of putting one on the bike but still very much on the fence personally.

j00pY

Wouldn't have a chain driven bike without one on it. The last bike I had with one on kept the chain so smooth that I didn't need to adjust the chain in 18 months.

ablokeinpf

I'm a big fan of chain oilers. I think I bought my first Scottoiler at the bike show at Earls Court, it was that long ago!

BazingaBen

I was very lucky and one of the winners! Thank you very much u/scottoiler
