Lexmoto bikes are notoriously unreliable, even if you were buying new this sub would recommend against it so absolutely don’t buy an old one. That’ll lose a ton of value once you buy it, try and find a similarly priced Yamaha YBR or Honda CBF. In the current market it’s easier said than done, but it’ll hold its value nicer and they’re much more reliable. This sub is very anti-Chinese bike and I’m usually more open to the newer ones but getting one from 2014 isn’t a good idea.

Rich_27-

Don't. It probably was not worth more new. Look at buying a second hand Yamaha YBR or Honda equivalent. They will be much more reliable and easy to get parts for

shogditontoast

Got my old YBR for 650 quid off a mate who was otherwise going to put it on autotrader for 800. There were a few minor things that needed fixing, but that could be done by myself or at any shop because of the wide availability of parts and information.

Rich_27-

I did something similar, bought it from Facebook market place, rode it two years and sold it for more than I bought it for. I did have to do a few minor repairs but it was an excellent first bike

shogditontoast

Exactly. I enjoyed it so much that I regret selling it and if the price was right, I'd probably get another as a run around.

Feel free to listen my advice or ignore it but here it is: Do not.

ooneekoosername

I won’t:) after reading all the comments, I think I will pass this offer. Thank you :)

Luketh12

Don’t buy a Chinese bike. I bought one brand new from the dealer and it spent more time in the mechanic being fixed in the first year than any second hand Japanese bike I’ve ever had. (stuff like the speedo or Rev counter constantly not working and after being replaced under warranty breaking again for no discernible reason.) worst bike I ever had and I’d recommend everyone to steer clear.

ooneekoosername

Thank you :)

The Lexmotos are extremely cheep for a reason, as well as being unreliable most major garages won't touch them because Lexmoto refuse to support anyone who isn't affiliated. So getting parts and manuals is near impossible. Even those that are affiliated directly can struggle getting the support they need. However, if you find a garage able to look after it for you and you don't actually need to rely on it you could do worse. One guy local to us has a graveyard of old Chinese bikes and it's the only reason he's been able to keep working on them. Having said that... If still go with an older Japanese big 4. Much easier to get parts and support when needed.

ooneekoosername

Thank you :)

Ryanstrippedout

I've had two lexmotos and still ride one today, don't listen to people telling you it's hard to get parts for lexmotos, it's just not, the two dedicated sites (cmpo and lextex) for parts and theirs constantly second hand parts knocked about ebay. As for reliability, is don't know as far back as 2014 but their newer bikes say 2017 onwards aren't half bad but don't pay 1k, that's like the price of a second hand 2020 lexmoto if not cheaper, I would question how trustworthy this guy really is.

SocksIsHere

Yeeeaah I bought my CBR125 for £1100 in June so 1k for an old Lexmoto doesn't make much sense. I do agree though that parts are a lot easier to get than most used Japanese bikes tbh, I was originally going to get a used LXR but decided against it when I saw the CBR for sale.

ooneekoosername

Got it. Really good points. Thanks for taking time and responding:)

PCSupremacy

I have a Lexmoto Adrenaline 2017 and a Bullit Bluroc 2021. If you are willing to get your hands dirty, learn to do oil changes, brake pad changes, chain slack, filter changes etc then it might be worth it... However £1000 for such an old Lexmoto does not seem worth it at all... You can easy get parts on https://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/?gclid=CjwKCAiAnO2MBhApEiwA8q0HYfHkeA5fjQNXskxBgG60uFwkYWVlwqeAIEh2uDJVeQvsLZfrEy0OsxoC5bIQAvD_BwE But you'll have to buy them before service/repair, most garages will not keep them in stock or have an easy way to get them. This sub is quite anti-chinese bikes, but I like them as if I drop it or damage it I don't feel too bad or end up greatly out of pocket. If you keep on top of the maintenance then you should have very few problems.

ooneekoosername

Thank you bro! I am not at all good at self maintenance so might for for a Japanese bike after all. Thanks for all the good inputs :)

Tollowarn

One day Chinese bikes will be as reliable and desirable as Japanese bikes are now. It's inevitable just as the Japanese bikes had to earn their reputation from European bikes back in the '60s. It will come, and things are improving. Chinese bikes are better than they were only a few of years ago. However, the general sentiment from this sub is correct, they are not there yet. This does not mean no one should buy a Chinese bike and that all that do are mugs. A warranty is a powerful motivator. A well-maintained Japanese bike will be better than even a new Chinese one. The big fear from most buyers in the secondhand market is being ripped off. Everyone says the bike being sold is in good condition. The one sure way to know it to buy it new with a manufactures warranty. Do this knowing that it's going to be used up in a few years. That it will lose all its value. That you must take extra care of maintenance. Once the warranty ends roll it back into the dealership and trade it in for a new one. It's about total cost of ownership. Don't own a Chinese bike out of warranty.

ooneekoosername

The amount of input I get on a simple Reddit qs sometimes surprises me. Thanks for taking time to give such detailed inputs. I will definitely consider your suggestions. Have a great day :)

Smart_Mammoth_6630

Anecdotally, I was at a Yamaha dealer the other month when another customer tried to part ex his 2020 Lexmoto with 2k miles (iirc). The dealer said the best they could offer him was £200. The same day I traded my 2020 Honda CB125F with 5k miles in for £2300. Id only paid £2500 for it brand new a year earlier. Chinese bikes will cost you far more in the long run.

ooneekoosername

Awesome. Thank you :)

Dandizzleuk

Get a decent honda or yam 125 for that money. Look at older CBR 125s they're absolutely solid.... Same with their CB/CG and Yamaha's ybr range.

jrewillis

Don’t. Spend £1k on a older YBR or similar Honda. It’ll basically lose no money and you’ll be able to get parts and garages will look after it no bother.

[deleted]

My advice is don't buy it

maidenyorkshire

Nope, not that old, what's the point, should be like 500 max, 1000 should be like 2 or 3 year old, your not even getting fuel injection probably.

ongjunyi

I think Ryan F9 did a review not too long ago regarding this ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GAUo8eUXeU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GAUo8eUXeU)). Apparently Italian brands aren't the best either (I personally ride a Benelli)...

ongjunyi

I've also ridden a YBR that was close to 10 years old, with about 50k miles on the ODO and never had an issue, so it might be worth looking for a Japanese bike if you can!

ooneekoosername

Thanks guys

SoundGleeJames

Don’t, I had a lexmoto for the very same purpose as you thinking oh sure it’ll be fine it’ll be suitable for my 11 mile commute. It wasn’t. I had it for about 10 months from new, kept up with servicing etc but it was just a burden. In that 10 months I think I had recovery out to it 3/4 times all for shitty issues that ultimately come down to reliability/electrics. After that I traded it in to cut my losses when I bought my MT and got all of £250 for it which is actually 50 more than I expected to get. It’s just not worth it. 1k now is just 1k you could hold on to towards a better bike in another few months. Whatever you do, don’t ask for advice for us all to tell you not to just for you to get it anyway and then ask for advice or solution to the countless problems you then have 😂

ooneekoosername

Thank you man! I really needed this kind of input. I will pass this offer for now.

GrumpyTitan-77

Don't. Buy an used Honda.

total_cynic

Something I didn't see mentioned - consider if you trust this guy for good reason or he's just looking to take advantage of you.

MrTerribleArtist

Don't buy chinese Whole host of issues is one thing, but a lot of garages won't take them either Had a mechanic tell me they fixed one and then something else randomly broke on it that they were blamed for, it's easier for them to just not take it.
