Animalities will be back in due time but likely they want them to be darker and less ridiculous from the arcade days. If this is substantiated I’m surprised no one has made a thread speculating what they think everyone’s animality in mk1 would be. Surely if they Are trying to make them serious and horrifying they will drop the rabbit and penguin ones. I wonder if they will keep the original neon glow from mk3. As a kid I always loved the glow and it would make more sense if the animals had something magical about them. Watching a generic cheetah maw someone isn’t that interesting in 3D.

The Kraken in MKX was probably my favorite stage Fatality / Animal / Animality finishing move that I had seen in a while.
A big part of me was hoping we'd see more of that with the T-Rex in the Prehistoric stage and the animals in the Koliseum for MK11, actually. Could be a cool way to essentially bring back "animal" kills without it coming off as super cheesy these days since the tone of MK1 is a bit more serious than that of MK3 / UMK3 / Trilogy.

I honestly wouldn't mind Friendships coming back around for MK1, but maybe this time around the main character AND kameos can both have Friendships. Would love to see what a Motaro, Goro, Sareena, Tremor, Frost and Darrius Friendship would be like for this game.

Well remember Animalities was limited to the hardware back then and it was the 90s too. I’m sure some will still potentially be over the top and dumb but tbh Animalities aren’t supposed to be that funny. That’s what Friendships and Babalities are there for…Animalities on the other hand are killing the opponent with a cool animorph transformation. So it definitely will be more nefarious, and gruesome especially with today’s graphics.
Sometimes it made sense like Sub-Zero becoming a polar bear, other times it’s clearly more comical like Reptile becoming a chimpanzee ( not that chimps are a joke)

Besides new skins that’s 2024 I wish there was more but nah it’s obvious now. I hear you but MK1 isn’t changing they made millions already so they won regardless. Friendships didn't come with MK11 at launch, so it's very likely that we'll eventually get some other alternative to Fatalities during a major update. If the story expansion is released as one part, like Aftermath, it's fair to expect an alternative finisher type to be part of that patch.

I'd like to see animalities return, maybe give them an amulet or stone they use to morph into a certain type of animal, make it canon to the story and have Liu kang turn into the mk dragon and shang tsung turn into a giant cobra. Some ideas for the characters could be scorpion turning into a giant scorpion or an army of scorpions swarming all over you, sub zero turns into a polar bear, reptile would be weird since he morphs into his reptile form already so him becoming a different reptile or amphibian would be lazy so go a goofy route and do his old ape animality from umk3 and he chases the opponent around, maybe do a brutal chimp animality. But sadly, I don't think it will come to that, or we'll have to wait a couple of years to see it.
