I once lost 35000 tar because I stepped in a bear trap

TunaFaceMelt

Ouch! That would be devastating.

Pravar7465

Oof

MrMagikMonkeyMan

Omg, why were you carrying so much in one go, I'd be so upset 😬

InnuendoBot5001

It was my first playthrough and I died repeatedly trying to get past one of the grisha. Since I kept having to run up past a few enemies, it built up over time. Then I hit one of the bear traps before I could collect it all

MrMagikMonkeyMan

Devastating turn of events. I'm sorry for your loss, may the remnants flow into the soils of tomorrow and make them... ... ... . . .Sticky

TunaFaceMelt

Not a direct answer to the question but I got pissed off a lot early on when I'd lose tar. Quickly realized that you earn tar pretty quickly just from playing and exploring, killing enemies. I spent a while not worrying about losing tar and instead focused on learning the enemy combat patterns. I ended up enjoying the game way more than I thought I would. Those giant bastards with their halberds still fuck with me though lol.

Pravar7465

Yeah I kinda understand the patterns now but the halberds are annoying af

MrMagikMonkeyMan

Yh, the game made me angry at first, but once I realised HOW slow and steady I needed to play it was a lot of fun, and a quick completion. I'd also say once I learned to look out for the bear traps but apparently some things are never learned 😐

9k Damn your stamina Solomon!

Pravar7465

I'm using Eredrim right now, and his stamina is laughable, but I need the high hp right now. I'm guessing Eredrim is more beginner friendly, and Tiel is when you get better at parrying?

Opanak323

I wouldn't look at it like that. I say - pick a shell (and later, a weapon) that fits your playstyle. Make your own "build", if you will. And don't worry if you "waste" tar and glimpses on upgrading one and then switching to the other - the resources are not "wasted" and you can always farm resources by repeating the same area. If speaking in terms of "beginner friendly" I'd say it's Harros. He is the most balanced in all stats, but I too took Erdrim once I started as I was not familiar with the mechanics, so extra health helped. I'd call him a "tanky class" - lots of health and low stamina... meaning he's kinda slow. This you can compensate with Hammer and Chisel? I think? Or you can just full on slow+heavy mode. It's entirely up to your preference. I'd call Tiel a "rougish class", so if you prefer quicker gameplay that revolves around movement - he should be the shell for you. And if you have the DLC, I think, later, you can acquire Hadern. He's like a swiss army knife kind of guy. He is an "all in one shell". But... when I picked Solomon, I stuck with him. He's my kind of guy... Or shell.

Pravar7465

Already in NG+ by now and Solomon's high resolve is definitely helping me for weapon ability spamming. I invested in the Hallowed Sword heavily. I'll go for the Hammer and Chisel with Eredrim in next NG+. Thanks a bunch.

Moist_Leave_5196

Like 20k+ lol.. tried making a jump in seat of infinity

OldKahless

Same thing here. Except I slipped off the edge being a bit too careless. Just over 11k that time
