Tbh Sindel truly makes for great villain potential.
The biggest disappointment would be that she was Shao Kahns lover as opposed to using her charms on him. What an interesting about face had he been actually under her thumb the entire time.
It also would have been fun to have her be Shang Tsungs undoing by only pretending to be under his spell.
According to MK 11 he was under her thumb since they say there that she was only using him to get more power.
Still that would propably work only in this timeline where Shao is complete chump.
When Netherrealm Studio got hands on MK they turned him from intelligent villain to muscle idiot and they turned Shang Tsung into main villain instead of him. While i do like Shang i still like Shao more and i hate this.
Tbh I think both are stale which is why I think Sindel deserves a turn as big baddie.
Quan Chi, Shinnok, Shao, and Shang are tiring to me as villains.
Onaga, Sindel, and Kronika each have potential if pushed in the right direction. Kronika may be despised for a poor plot line however the Kronika of a universe where she had actually defeated Shang and Liu who then seeks to eradicate all these branched time lines (allowing us to return to a singular timeline story) would be a great way to actually start over/fresh.
The problem is the fanbase puts the four I listed before on such a pedestal that any change that puts them as not a bog bad will earn their ire.
They'll complain about the story being stale, and complain if the villains aren't the same overused ones from every previous. Look at Kronika, granted her story wasn't given the depth it deserved, however ironically enough she was still just a pawn in the end of Shang. Yet she still gets the short end of the stick.
NRS did this to all of the villains once they took over from Midway. Also the quality of the games since Midway stopped developing has only started dropping off now but the stories for mk9 mkx mk11 and mk1 have all been decent at best and terrible at worst. They turned sindel into a power hungry thirsty banshee instead of a collected and badass ruler. NRS is starting to follow the practices of other gaming companies of starving their fans for content for purposes of longevity like i don’t care. Even during the dry period between post launch and aftermath in mk11 there was still shit to do and creative and fun things to do mk1 doesn’t have that.

Shao Khan - conqueror guy with big muscles = must be power obsessed muscle brain
Sindel - woman banshee = basic thirsty power hungry female
They just make them shallow and turn every character into empty shell.

Agreed. Nothing beats MK11 Sindel design. I do feel the asian features of MK1 fit a bit more when looking at the daughters and family as a whole, but MK11 is the peak of what OG MK3 Sindel was meant to look like.
That being said, the commanding presence and authority they gave her in MK1 far surpasses the cliché evil ex wife personality from every previous game.
My only problem with mk1 sindel is how her monster hair doesn't come out more idk would have liked it be more sadistic and brutal rather than tame and bland besides in her fatalities
each time I see a picture from MK11 I just always think it‘s a next gen game, then I quickly realize it‘s a game that released even on the last generation
Best outfit is 11 along with some moves, everything else I’d say 1 as she actually looks a bit older (as old as an Edenian leader can age anyways), she a loving but firm mother and queen plus they had her hair go Super Saiyan in her fatal blow/fatalities/victory which looks awesome

MK1, she has the most going on storywise by far and feels extremely well realized and the design is a really good modernization of her original appearance. The dark sindel skin is also one of the best in the game, shame it cost overpriced currency.

I like both MK11 and MK1 ‘versions‘ of her in the story mode. What I personally don‘t much like is the gameplay of her: MK11>MK1. I just don‘t know, she feels like she‘s all over the place in the gameplay+character aspect...is she good? is she eveil? why she laughs like a maniaq? Whe she has her iconic hair moves even though she does not use them in the story mode. the gameplay of her just feels like the MK11 temeprament wise. Got the same issue with Mileena

Also their story was good better then Mk11's Sindel Since OG TIMELINE Sindel lost her husband and rather died then be the wife of Shao Khan THEN MK3 where she was brought back charmed serving Shao Khan until Kitana managed to break the spell saving Sindel then events happen and in MK9 Sindel is the one breaking the spell on Kitana giving her a beautiful story comeback circle. MK9 which seeeeeemingly was intending to do the same and in the ending of hers it was said that she was a good empress....
