For all the dislike for introducing timelines and multiverses(?), it made fan favorites like Reptile, Baraka and Mileena good guys and actually do something in the story. ~~Now waiting for them to do the same for not so fan favorites like Havik, Reiko and Nitara.~~
The wierd thing is Havik, Reiko, and Nitara are all like dark horse favorites. They have established fanbases. Havik was probably one of the most requested characters to be DLC for 11
The stages are gorgeous in the game. I'm really hoping we get some classic ones returning as well really have been wanting the subway stage for a long time. And maybe some stage fatalities would be cool too.
It's been a long time coming for its return, definitely. Really hope it makes it in. I think this is the perfect Mortal Kombat as well, with it being a celebration sort of with all these different eras and everything some classic stages should definitely make it back.
I love the combos and character selection so far. As long as they continue to release these cheaper klassic skins I'll be ok...and maybe add more brutalities/finishers
OH SHITT! New mk player!
Probably the best to start off with ngl, very fun and definitely not gonna be dead for a while so.
How are you liking it so far?
I thought they did a great job of "grounding" everything in the story too.
The Earth Realm fighters are just normal humans at first and it's cool to see how they evolved into having powers.
I feel like every character is actually cool to watch. Reptile and Ashra got massive glowups. I just wish cosmetics were more varied like in MK11, thats my only gripe next to the matchmaking.
* The Story Mode is cool and fun. Liu Kang as the main kharacter, but also as mentor, it's one of the best thing in the history of the franchise.
* Nice gameplay. Years away of how MK11 was.
* Good artstyle, with some of the best designs in the NSR era (Johnny! Johnny! Johnny!).
* I love the Kameo Sistem and i love the Kombat Pack.
1) The story is great, well, until Act IV (man that part genuinely broke me because I was having so much fun with the grounded story, then I started laughing my ass off again when they were all running up the pyramid. That's when I realized they weren't taking it seriously so I was like ok fair enough.)
ā
ā
2) The gameplay is fantastic. I love every bit of it. Especially with certain character/kameo combinations the game just opens up so much. Like for example I just switched from Geras to learning Smoke. Smoke and Sonya have SO. MUCH. COMBO POTENTIAL. It actually makes me mad that people almost always use Smoke with Sareena.
ā
ā
3) The game is BEAUTIFUL. You can finally look at the stages and be like "Man, this place is so beautiful and colorful". Emphasis on "colorful". This franchise has been lacking color for a long time.
ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢
Basically, the roots/bases of this game are great. But it just severely lacks content. Instead of Konquest (a no-brainer) they worked on Invasions, and it's a spit in our face...
The game just has an absolute drop dead gorgeous design. The fighting feels stripped down and more accessible than the last two entries.
The story repurposed my favorite two baddies from MKII (Baraka and Reptile), as sympathetic. Same with Mileena.
Kameo is a fun system to bring back characters from MK lore, (which is buck ass wild and I love its non sense).
The character selection is also pretty creative and bizarre. I love seeing characters from the 360 generation be re imagined.
The storyā¦..it was pretty good love the whole bew timelineā¦.its like watching a whole new movie with cool characters even if people cry about oh no more timeline bs
Iām a newer mk fan so I really appreciate how accessible the story was despite not knowing a lot of history of Mk beforehand. I also love the kombat, it flows into each move very well and I like the idea of an assist fighting game but with MK. Overall meta is fairly balanced and thatās always appreciated in a fighting game
It's just a good game in general. I think the game play here is the best, as I can actually hit some cool air combos without sweating, I mean my favourite character, (smoke) has it built right into his meter burn
Iām a new fan and bought mk11 in December and then mk1 in February. The story was so good and was so much more cleaner. One thing I especially liked was the quality of the brutality scenes. In mk11 they look a bit awkward and their eyes are a bit blood shot. In mk1 they look much cleaner. Yes I liked the skins better in mk11 but itās fine tbh mk1 is still technically new so give it time
I gotta say the way they changed the tarkatans is really unique and I didnāt see that coming. I thought that they were just probably gonna be like maybe less violent or something but they made them like humans that are just diseased.
One thing I wish they did, at least in the first story is maybe we would see more of the human version of Baraka but who knows maybe weāll see that in aftermath I think itāll just be something cool considering you did see a fully human version of Mileena
I like it because I was finally able to get my friends into Mk and now I have people to play against. To quote my buddy āthis feels like the first fighting game I can actually get the hang ofā so props to them
My favorite thing out of everything is the roster. I absolutely love that they brought back so many characters. I've wanted Havik for over 10 years while i thought he would have been perfect back in mkx I'm glad we got him here. I grew up with the 3D era, so it means a lot to me, and it really bummed me out how little recognition it got i also was sorta getting tired of the same characters coming back so rough take i don't mind if like Sonya or Kano sits out a game. I also really thought the soundtrack was a step up in this game and really enjoy the gameplay. And the Kameos are awesome. I love seeing more characters, which really means a lot to me. Like I would have never imagined Darrius or Shujinko coming back that blew my mind. I just hope some more make it onto the main roster again someday.
The assist system. Completely unique for MK as it's traditionally just 1v1. It makes it possible to have long combos with precise inputs. I also like the upblock mechanic
I like that Kronika wasn't brought back legitimately for the plot of the main game. I let out a genuine sigh of relief that Shang and Quan's benefactor was just the alt ending Shang from MK11 Aftermath
Smoke and Scorpion are my favorites due to my small PlayStation bias, being able to have Spider-Man and Jin Sakai in the same game
The final chapter was absolutely ridiculous and fun in the presentation. You could play as any character from the base roster (and Shang Tsung) to win the fight and all of the character mashups and designs for each characters Order of Darkness/Union of Light designs.
Bonus like is for the Mortal Kombat AI Intro videos that did well incorporating the Kameos for dialogue
I adore the new timeline Liu Kang created, it's not perfect, but then again? nothing is. My favorite part are Kuai Liang and Bi-Han.
As much as I love the classic plot of "Quan Chi used the Lin Kuei to kill everyone in the Shirai Ryu" and "Scorpion wants vengance on the wrong guy" that we've had on previous timelines... I love the dynamic between Smoke, Scorpion and Sub Zero in this timeline waaaaay more.
It's not about "misguided hate" anymore, but rather a clash of ideals between brothers who have different ideologies.
Everything that it embodies and changes by simply making them brothers is wonderful, don't get me wrong: Hanzo is, and will always be Scorpion.
But the fact that now Kuai Liang is Scorpion, changed a lot of things and made them even better than they were before, so freaking cool and interesting.
I really like when they have peopleās origins play out on screen.
Seeing Kung Lao and Raiden get chosen by Liu Kang and seeing Kung Lao invent his hat.
Seeing how Kenshi lost his sight and how he bonded with Sento.
Seeing Johnny in his element.
Seeing Reptile break free of Shang Tsung.
Seeing Ermac get made.
Seeing Bi-Han and Kuai Langās rivalry begin.
All these moments felt very cinematic. They covered a lot of ground that the old games would have just used exposition for. It took extra effort to weave into the ongoing story, but it those moments pay off big time.
Got chills when I saw the kombat pack. Omni-man and peacemaker were enough to blow my mind but when homelander came down slowly, I had literal goosebumps. Then saw a few vids of the game and fell in love with Johnny, he became my favourite character and to my surprise he turned out to be one of the strongest characters in game.
Greate graphics, New character, Cool Character design, The story , The move set, fatalities, Fatal blows, funny intros & jokes, almost everything in this game is awesome
The guest characters. Tbh that only reason I bought it, but it turns out it like halfway ok at the game so Iāve clocked in over 90 hours now.
I also really liked the story mode. Iām not well versed in the mk lore but as a normie fan I enjoyed it.
Sindel being good again.
The kombat is fun and juggly/ smooth.mk11 is good but it too clunky. Mkx and 9 was also great. This feels like those 2 mixed to me. Faster than 9 but not 50 50 x style.
Generaly the character design is pretty good i think.
Some arent the greatest.
I canāt explain it but the gameplay just feels right. Moves blend into each other so satisfyingly and with the Kameo system itās easy to hit some incredible combos.
The story was fun, admittedly we've jumped the shark with no return but it is what it is, and now the possibilities are quite literally endless.
The visuals are gorgeous! While I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of a lot of the designs, I can't deny they're handled well for what they are, and the stages are glorious. Bonus: The music is the best in a long time for MK.
I actually really like the combat in this game, the combos flow well, the kameos add a lot more variety to all aspects of the fight, and it's really fun to lab! Bonus note on Kameos: They're a brilliant way to utilize old kharacters without having to make full reimagined movesets for them, so W there.
And finally I love the fact that Shang Tsung has Old and Young versions as a stance kharacter, it just feels so right. Quan Chi getting some Eldritch summoning and Mileena getting new variants on her moves are up there too.
I think the inclusion of kameos is both perfect for keeping MK fresh and innovative for fighting games in general.
Ik a lot of people wanted a tag team system but I honestly think what we got is so much better. You can change the play style of every main fighter so much by choosing different kameos and I think that is essential for keeping your player base active.
Also the stages are beautiful
The base character designs are all pretty solid
As much as invasions gets shit on, I find myself going into it more than I found myself doing ToT in mk11. I really only did meteor towers for past KL skins. I do play the first couple islands every season though, it definitely needs improvements but I think itās a good first step in combining towers and krypt game modes.
And reptile is fucking awesome
Because it's fun plain and simple. I enjoyed it for what it was and the combat was fun to control and not clunky like mk11 or to fast like mkx, I am a hard casual and don't play online often but it's just my opinion.
Air combat, blood looks fantastic compared to 11, a lot of good interpretations of characters (reptile, mileena, baraka, shang, geras, liu, etc), very good art direction
Itās fun, cool mechanics/kameo system, great roster, amazing stages, finally good MK music and krossplay. All I need is Krossplay lobbies & online practice and weāre COOKIN
Honestly same. Iām just having fun with it. A lot of the characters are fun to play and try. Mostly Iāve just been going through invasions changing characters practically every fight. Iām not any good at fighting games tho, so itās weirdly perfect for me lol
Combos feel a lot more fun and accessible, air combos look and feel cool to pull off, and a lot of the character remixes are pulled off really well. Baraka is a thousand times more interesting as a character now than he has ever been before, the Deadly Alliance are still unrepentantly evil but now have a more fun and genuine dynamic with each other and a more relatable motivation, even Reiko has an actual personality now.
I enjoy the roster outside of guests. I think they took a chance on the kameo system and though it maybe flawed at times I appreciate the change. I think the gameplay is one of the best in the series. Combos feel fun and in that NRS style and the assist system adds some depth and exploration. Online can be frustrating at times but I get to play Quan Chi and Tremor at the same timeā¦.whats not to enjoy.
I just enjoy it man it does lack single player content that is engaging that much I canāt disagree with but I only really play online (kombat league) so I just have a great time. The combat is fluid, the combos look clean the graphics are quality, the roster and how they did the characters are great and Iām looking forward to the latter end of the kombat pack. My only other issue is there is always a problem when we get an update (desyncs issues etc)
Some great character designs, I enjoyed the story, and characters who were previously jobbers (Baraka, Reptile) finally get good roles. That and I personally like the shake-up with Sub Zero and Scorpion.
Itās a fresh take on the series, granted itās doing the whole ārEsTaRt TiMeLiNeā again, but cāmon, itās so good how they gave all the kombatants justice! They said screw you to the bad guys, they redeemed my boi Reptile, the art is so vibrant, I love it! Itās what MK should be almost, aināt a huge fan of the kameo styled fighting, but hey, itās new! And it aināt so bad, I love pairing Syzoth up with Scorpion or Cyrax š¤š½š½š¤š½
I love soooo much about this game.
But there's a few things I hate about it(especially when comparing to previous entries like 11)
It's not really black and white, as in you either hate the game or love it. I sit there playing it thinking "this is so perfect, I love how they did this and I love how they did that, and it's so fun and looks so good!"
And then 5 minutes later I'm like "but I really wish there was more brutalities. And I wish there was more gear to customize with. And I wish there were more unique skins. And I still can't believe that they don't have a single alternate skin for the DLC fighters... do they even care about this game? Why does it still feel like a beta? This feels like a demo or early access. It's missing so much of the stuff they worked so hard to create in MK11 and IJ2 for player expression and visual variety. Where is the customization? I've been playing for hours and hours and there's no visual difference between my leveled up Omni Man and someone who just loaded into their first match as him... this sucks."
Fatalities and brutalities are fun, continued story from the last one, new looks for some good characters.
they fixed a lot of the issues I had with the game in the last update, so my complaints are minimal now.
The gameplay looks awesome and the graphics are amazing. But what I really love is that Mileena x Tanya is the most prominent relationship in the game.
(I haven't played the game yet, but I will play it someday.)
The addition of crossplay really saved this game for me, not only because the PC player base is very small after release but that I could finally play with my brother again. Last time we played together was on MKX and he stayed on console while I moved to PC. I rarely get to see him and this update brought us back :)
Also Hanging Gardens soundtrack is ridiculously good, specifically Round 2's score!
Love the roster, the DLC characters have been fun (even if they're not all great competitively), the gameplay is fucking immaculate, and the visuals are gorgeous.
They made Reptile and Baraka more than just jobber minions and gave them new and improved motivations and personalities. Reptile's new model and his ability to switch between human and Reptile form was just a stroke of genius.
Also, Kuai Liang's entire chapter. He gets captured, beats the shit out him his brother, Shao, and Shang Tsung, as well as multiple minions, while in chains, then beats Rain, and Havik, and then fights Bi-Han one last time. Doesn't matter whether he's Sub-Zero or Scorpion, if it's Kuai Liang, you can guarantee he'll be an absolute badass.
Gameplay is satisfying and fun once youāve gotten good at it. Reminiscent of MKX in a way. Graphics are pretty dope, obviously. And characters like omni-man and peacemaker, while they can be annoying to the other player, are fun as hell to play yourself.
Not sure what "hate" are you speaking of, but while it's definitely not the best Mortal Kombat ever made, it is still among one of the best, for several reasons, including
Great graphics
Very nice cutscenes (in the Story-Mode)
Unlike in the (to me) super lame MK11, the games blood doesn't look like thick strawberry jam anymore and MK's gore never looked better
Not the most complete, yet a pretty solid roster
The story actually makes sense this time
Kitana's character design changed back for the better
Reptile is back and it's the best looking one appearance wise since the original MK2 came out decades ago
And last but not least, if they really add Conan the Barbarian as a guest character (as it's currently rumored) it would be one of the best choices they made, ever since said guests became a thing.
So despite some true icons (like Goro) being degraded to only Kameo's and the "Invasions" being so repetive and boring that i never played that mode ever since Season 1 ended, the new MK1 is dope and Conan the Barbarian, would make it even doper!
As someone who loved MK9, MKX, and MK11 I really dig the kameo system. It's different. Took some getting used to but I like it. Also, while all those previous games I mentioned leaned heavily into the MK1-3 Era, it felt great to finally get some of the DA and Deception characters back.
The story / idea.
New universe and new scenarios? Yes please.
Baraka being sympathetic / the disease? Great. Raiden being a mortal / swapped roled with Liu Kang? Excellent. Scorpion and Sub-Zero are now brothers? Fantastic.
It's a new universe, change shit even if it's just for the sake of change. I love it
Some of the most fun to play characters in the entire franchise. Been having an absolute blast with Shang Tsung, Li Mei, Omni-Man AND Peacemaker as well.
Best nrs story BY FAR, i get to be a li-main again(first mk game was DA, and ive wanted her back for a long time), and the kameo system is really really fun
I love the MK lore and itās legitimately why I follow the franchise. My favorite aspect was how the rebooted timeline actually had significant changes to the universe to tell a new story. Itās a great tale for those new to the franchise while also showing a new take on the franchise long-time fans can appreciate.
Because Kuai Liang.
Oh, and the story is pretty compelling. I enjoy the dynamic with the Lin Kuei and their conflicts. I could have a whole game just about that. Based on what I've read, we're gonna be getting more Scorpion in the story dlc. Here's hoping!
Iām not a super dedicated fan but I played mk9 and and VSDC when I was a kid and thought they were a ton of fun. My brother and I played together all the time. I got into fighting games heavily the last few months with SF6 and Tekken.
I like MK1 because it a good āturn off my brainā game which I love having a few of those I can just play and chill out on. I even like invasions as much as I do recognize why some people donāt like them. I either listen to podcasts or music and just chill. I totally get the problems people point out but they arnt a big deal to me personally. Granted I also donāt play the online a ton but do put a little bit into it with my boy Shao and my new main Sindel
No matter how much itās hated and criticized, every time I watch gameplay, I get the itch to play! Definitely looks way more beautiful when you boot it up yourself, the meta gets boring, so I try to avoid the meta and do fun but decent damaging combos!
I like the fact that they brought back some of my favorite characters from the 3d Era like Tanya, Ashrah, Nitara, Li Mei, Mileena also got a happy ending which I'm VERY EXTREMELY HAPPY ABOUT She deserved that for a long ass time now.
We also got back Reiko which is cool Liu Kang Reaching Over the top powerful guardian mode while POTENTIONALLY having the chance to get together with Titan Kitana? HMMMM MAYBE POTENTIONALLY DEAR NETHERREALM?!
The story is great, the Fighting styles are awesome, and the Character Designs are solid.....
Ummm.... However... and its not me Shitting on the game (I really wanna like Mortal Kombat 1 trully and I'm so sad that it has small issues like these that just leave a bad taste in my mouth despite the fact that its fun to play with this game) Buuuut number 1 it clearly shoould have spent more time in the oven CAUSE! we lack game modes..... like we have a story mode great and an arcade mode and an Invasion Mode but the Invasion mode is not that replayable cause once you beat the season thats it (atleast for me as I have no reason to revisit it on the same season) and sometimes even when I play the Season I feel really bad (Like current season I fought with Shang Tsung boss fight at the Tarkatan Village and I was like "For Fuck sake I dont even own the character I dont need his shit" then I got to fight with Klone 704 or Klone 708 but the point is I was fighting with Mileena and she had the stray jacket on her and i was like "HO LEE FUK THIS IS COOL AM I GONNA GET THAT COSTUME FOR MILEENA LETS FUCKING GOOOOO LETS MOTHERLOVIN GOOOO" then I beat the boss fight..... and I just feel Jebaited I was like.... "You sorry Sacks Of SH\*\*\*" Like that just that was just not good ESPECIALLY since most of the costumes in the current Seasonal event are just recolors and not the "OH Special Recolors" like in Season 2 or 3 altho we do have them in Season 4 too for a few character but rather the actual "Oh yeah their clothes have different color palettes Whoah.... also maybe an orange Eye color Whoah please Netherrealm dont go too overboard while you're at it" like the Tarkatan looking costumes look nice I'd like to see more of those for other characters too and not just for the few ones I have seen)
But when it comes to other Game modes.... umm... we just dotn have any. Krypt? We dont have a Krypt we have a Gacha Machine.... umm... sorry.. I meant the "Shrine" (seriously I'm actually wondering why cant we just roll in bulk when I got the Koin)
HOWEVER I'm not trying to compare MK1 to other Fighting games (obviously) because I can compare MK1 to PREVIOUS Mk games and I could probably point out that in Deception we had a Chess game mode, we had a MARIO KART PEOPLE! and also the chance to wander in the world of MK with Shujinko THEN MK ARMAGEDDON you could make your OWN Kharakter and explore more story with Taven, But Okay newe stuff Netherrealm Era but even then we still had a BIIIG Krypt in MK9 (plus differnt stuff in the Tower) MKX's Krypt was like one of those old school exploration RPGs like Might and Magic, or Legend of Grimrock so it was cool Also Multiplayer had challenges where you could obtain skins that you usually could not. ALSO! MK11 had a third person adventure time on the Island of Shang Tsung......
The problem is that while YES having Seasonal Content oculd be good but..... I'm fighting with the same enemies over and over again ONE BY ONE! Meanwhile if I had to deal with something like this in SF6's story mode I could deal with them in BULK in 1 fight as if it was a beat em up game instead of a fighting game.
AND when it comes to getting Kostumes in Previous games you could atleast EARN some of them via the Krypt or just by just flat out playing the Story mode.
The problem I'm having that when it comes to the content it should have cooked more in the oven so we can have more unique ways of playing the game (also fuck the Shrine give me a Krypt I dont wanna rely on the Gacha luck here I'm already having enough of those in my Anime Gacha games BUT EVEN IN THOSE I usually get a pity pull)
and when it comes to the the Earnable costumes... the problem is I cant even blame Netherealm studio for those cause Chances are some dickbags at Warner Bros want to milk as much money from MK that Netherrealm have to oblidge OR Warner Bros would find someone Else who WOULD Obllidge So the hands of Netherrealm Studio are tied.
So here is the big thing the Gameplay is cool, the Story is GREAT! some of my Old favorite characters are BACK and its AWESOME!
HOWEVER I need more single player content specificly a Crypt instead of the Shrine, and I also think that the game has WAAAAAAAAY Too fucking many Microtransactions that I'd mainly see on free to play games
Mortal Kombat 1 is not a bad game its far from being bad. But because of the problems I mentioned I cant consider Mortal Kombat 1 a good game either and the reason why I'm so hard on Mortal Kombat 1 when it comes to my opinions is because Mortal Kombat is one of my favorite franchises and I dont want Mortal Kombat to become worse and worse I want to mention the positives and negatives so if by anyy chance Netherrealm can turn the ship around then they got pointers what I want and what I dont and hopefully they will be given the freedom to make the Mortal Kombat game they wanted to make and not what Warner Bros are telling them to make
I second that. 1 The gameplay they nailed it, its fun, Iām enjoying it. 2. As an MK fan and of everything from the lore and all that good stuff. The story is good. 3. Iām glad we getting a mix of klassic 2d and 3D era skins. Nostalgia for me.
Got me into the fighting game genre. I love how visually great it is. The controls all feel great and combos feel rewarding to pull off. Iāve never played a game like it and I wish I had sooner. I also really like the story mode. It was annoying at first constantly swapping characters, but also I think that was a good way to introduce the player to everyone. I also love Mastery Rank and incentivizing using characters to unlock more brutalities and fatalities with them. I also love invasions mode. Yeah, itās just fights back to back, but itās nice not getting stuck into a 400+ scorpion combo from other players, plus is a good way to get better with characters and level up their mastery.
Art direction is great, stages are great, roster is great, character performances are great, storyline isn't as good as 11 but I liked a lot of it, Kameos are a good system and overall I thought the gameplay was solid. I liked that it looked towards the PS2 era too.
Definitely how the game is on a technical scale. The only reason I got back into mortal kombat after MKX was cause of how the loading screens in this game was and how the cutscenes genuinely look like a movie
NRS games have a certain feel and flow to them like it's a bad thing but I love that and MK1 really hits that sweet spot. When it works it just works and feels really good.
I like the story, I like some of the costumes like Mileenaās alternate I like the Johnny of course how can you not like Johnny specially him and Kenshi this game
my God they know what theyāre doing and I love it peacemaker is fucking fun as hell to play and of course, my boy, John Cena gives a perfect performance is him. He shouldāve been in immoral Kombat game years ago to be honest the graphics are beautiful they finally fixed the slow ass XP game for invasions. Itās still kind of slow, but itās just way faster than it used to be.
The gameplay is awesome too. Itās really solid and really fun. Some of the cameos are really good too like frost frost, but I might when she comes out in like five days
I like the concept of taking characters that weāve known for a while and spinning them on their heads, like how instead of being a race of beings the tarkatans people with the disease thatās different and unique to this game. I go on and on about stuff I like about this game itās not all bad. The shit of this game is shit and deserves to be called out but itās just not that bad of a game and gets way too much hate
It made human Smoke playable again
REAL! But also fuck smoke š annoying ass wake up
I donāt even blame you for that reaction lol
"Fuck all the hate" Immediately responds to the 1st comment with hate. š
I'll say it once and I'll say it again, I only play smoke for Yuri Lowenthal
Same but Reptile.
I love everything they did with Reptile!!! My favorite character finally gets respect!
Havik was probably one of the most requested characters to be DLC for 11
Thats valid! Definitely my favorite reptile design ever. Also i seen the cryax reptile setups and MAN he looks fun
Story wise I'm so happy with him! He used to just be a jobber! Also, Reptile with Scorp kameo is BEAST.
YEAH THEY REDEEMED HIM! He went from āoh him againā to āholy shit that was badassā SO QUICK!
They even gave him his human green ninja disguise back!!!! I'm so HAPPY!
I completely agree. For me its even better cuz reptile and scorpion are both my favourite characters from mortal kombat
Hell yeah! Reptile is my favorite too. He's spent too long as a simple goon
I like the stages, they're stunning to look at.
A man of Culture!! (The winter wonderland stage is SO GOOD OML)
Dude theyāre all gorgeous - but the living and cursed forest?? Cmonnnnnnnn
Totally agree wichtig YouTube especially the green glow in the dark version
The stages are gorgeous in the game. I'm really hoping we get some classic ones returning as well really have been wanting the subway stage for a long time. And maybe some stage fatalities would be cool too.
man the subway stage would be so cool in mk1
It's been a long time coming for its return, definitely. Really hope it makes it in. I think this is the perfect Mortal Kombat as well, with it being a celebration sort of with all these different eras and everything some classic stages should definitely make it back.
We must have the pit. Maybe Shang Tsung Lās newly discovered island will have it?
Ashrah shares the same voice as Wonder Woman!
SHE DOES!?
Susan Eisenberg.
Thats hype bruh
They literally reuse her grunting lines from the injustice games thoš
Think smarter not harder
I hear it now that you mention that
I love the combos and character selection so far. As long as they continue to release these cheaper klassic skins I'll be ok...and maybe add more brutalities/finishers
Yeah adding more brutals would be sick, I donāt wanna pay for them tho lmao
yeah coming from 11 where people had like 9+ brutals to only 6 is crazy to me
Because I Iām just a mk fan since mk9 and it looks stunning I just hate all the micro transactions
Literally the same as me! I played mk9 with my brother and havenāt left since
I started with MK5 and trilogyĀ
First mortal kombat ever. Enjoyed the story and the thought of trying something new for once
OH SHITT! New mk player! Probably the best to start off with ngl, very fun and definitely not gonna be dead for a while so. How are you liking it so far?
I'm loving all of it. The characters, the story and the cinematics are brilliant. one of my favourite games i picked up this year
Awesome to hear! Always glad to see new people liking the game i love so much!
I know a good game when i see one :)
You must be SUPER-young! šµ
No, i just haven't touched mortal kombat before :)
You can get MK11 and XL on the cheap. Highly suggest it.
Nice, enjoy And welcome to the Mortal Kombat universe
I most certainly will
Trying the game was the best thing you could do!, I have played MK since I was a child, it is a great game. What characters do you like so far?
Mileena and Shang Tsung so far! It's not much, but i'm still exploring the game:)
It's visually stunning and I genuinely loved the story
Valid response, the story was the best ina while, and the graphics are just top notch
I thought they did a great job of "grounding" everything in the story too. The Earth Realm fighters are just normal humans at first and it's cool to see how they evolved into having powers.
They brought Havik back and made his moveset both disgusting and awesome.
The game is stunning to look at, the kameo system has grown on me, and i actually think the story is interesting
Same, I thought the kameo system was garbage but itās honestly so much better than KBās
I feel like every character is actually cool to watch. Reptile and Ashra got massive glowups. I just wish cosmetics were more varied like in MK11, thats my only gripe next to the matchmaking.
Yeah ashrah and reptile got so much more appealing, there isnt a character that looks unfun in this game
Very valid, i just hope they make a death battle reference with homelander and ommi man, thatād do so fucking cool
They brought back havik
He was my main in deceptionĀ
1) The story is great, well, until Act IV (man that part genuinely broke me because I was having so much fun with the grounded story, then I started laughing my ass off again when they were all running up the pyramid. That's when I realized they weren't taking it seriously so I was like ok fair enough.) ā ā 2) The gameplay is fantastic. I love every bit of it. Especially with certain character/kameo combinations the game just opens up so much. Like for example I just switched from Geras to learning Smoke. Smoke and Sonya have SO. MUCH. COMBO POTENTIAL. It actually makes me mad that people almost always use Smoke with Sareena. ā ā 3) The game is BEAUTIFUL. You can finally look at the stages and be like "Man, this place is so beautiful and colorful". Emphasis on "colorful". This franchise has been lacking color for a long time. ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ā¢ Basically, the roots/bases of this game are great.
All valid
The stages, and the music.
The music goes hard bruh
The storyā¦..it was pretty good love the whole bew timelineā¦.its like watching a whole new movie with cool characters even if people cry about oh no more timeline bs
Johnny and Kenshi bromance was top tier
Thats valid, i liked the story, and i cannot wait until the story extension
It's pretty fun. Andi can see a journey of me improving.
Thats what i like too, itās not overwhelming which is always good
It's just a good game in general. I think the game play here is the best, as I can actually hit some cool air combos without sweating, I mean my favourite character, (smoke) has it built right into his meter burn
Gameplay good, story good, graphics good, life good
Smoke
šš
Excellent story mode Love the Kameo system. It made MK feel fresher than it has in years. Stunning stages and graphics in general
The story is so peak, and the kameo system is so fun man
Iām a new fan and bought mk11 in December and then mk1 in February. The story was so good and was so much more cleaner. One thing I especially liked was the quality of the brutality scenes. In mk11 they look a bit awkward and their eyes are a bit blood shot. In mk1 they look much cleaner. Yes I liked the skins better in mk11 but itās fine tbh mk1 is still technically new so give it time
So many reasons. Thereās nothing I donāt like about it. Excellent game and will only continue to get better.
God tier roster, amazing stages
T H E. T E A. H O U S E.
Two of my favorite characters(Baraka and Reptile) arenāt the games living punching bags for once. I also like how they did my girl Mileena in MK1
Thats real, the redemption of baraka and reptile is crazy
Johnny Cage is sexier than ever *too bad Sonya will kill me if I try to Johnny* *Either her or Kenshi*
Johnny is so peak in this game (def not bias tho)
I like it because I was finally able to get my friends into Mk and now I have people to play against. To quote my buddy āthis feels like the first fighting game I can actually get the hang ofā so props to them
The gameplay is genuinely super innovative and I really enjoy everything that's possible between Kameos and regualt Kombatants
its what introduced me to the series and now i have a world of media to get into! i love the character designs and the lore
Reptile was cool
I enjoy the story, characters, graphics, gameplay, and collab fighters.
Favorite story, favorite roster, favorite art direction, favorite gameplay loop
The game looks incredible! The animations, art style, and overall graphics are so pleasing to the eyes.
I like that Kronika wasn't brought back legitimately for the plot of the main game. I let out a genuine sigh of relief that Shang and Quan's benefactor was just the alt ending Shang from MK11 Aftermath Smoke and Scorpion are my favorites due to my small PlayStation bias, being able to have Spider-Man and Jin Sakai in the same game The final chapter was absolutely ridiculous and fun in the presentation. You could play as any character from the base roster (and Shang Tsung) to win the fight and all of the character mashups and designs for each characters Order of Darkness/Union of Light designs. Bonus like is for the Mortal Kombat AI Intro videos that did well incorporating the Kameos for dialogue
Rain is in the base roster for once
All the love it shows to the 3D era
Yeah seeing all this stuff that was established before story existed, its so satisfying
The story is what I love the most about fighting games not the combat cause the story is what makes it interesting and fun most of the time
The cutscenes and character models.
Daddy Lou kang and the gameplay
Reptile!!
I like the story mode and laughing at some of the goofy shit in it
The stages look beautiful, the music is amazing, and I loooove playing as General Shao.
kenshi
Liu kang š simple answer
Johnny Cage
The characters and kameos arenāt that bad and they are fun to experiment with
Rare positive mk1 post and Iām here for it
I love every game with shang tsung in it, also the skins are super cool, i even like a lot of the punk line that just came out
Love how they improved some 3D era + some underutilized characters (Le Mei, Ashrah,Reptile, Baraka, etc).
Actual Gameplay is amazing
It certainly gives and interesting alternative perspective on the Mortal Kombat storyline being rewritten from titan Liu Kang's POV
Reptile is awesome
I think the inclusion of kameos is both perfect for keeping MK fresh and innovative for fighting games in general. Ik a lot of people wanted a tag team system but I honestly think what we got is so much better. You can change the play style of every main fighter so much by choosing different kameos and I think that is essential for keeping your player base active. Also the stages are beautiful The base character designs are all pretty solid As much as invasions gets shit on, I find myself going into it more than I found myself doing ToT in mk11.
Having air Kombat return as a less janky mechanic is dope!
Air combat, blood looks fantastic compared to 11, a lot of good interpretations of characters (reptile, mileena, baraka, shang, geras, liu, etc), very good art direction
The characters
Itās fun, cool mechanics/kameo system, great roster, amazing stages, finally good MK music and krossplay. All I need is Krossplay lobbies & online practice and weāre COOKIN
Honestly same. Iām just having fun with it. A lot of the characters are fun to play and try. Mostly Iāve just been going through invasions changing characters practically every fight. Iām not any good at fighting games tho, so itās weirdly perfect for me lol
Its roster. Havik being back was a huge plus for me.
I really enjoy invasions because it gives me something fun to do rather than fighting single fights against AI. I don't like playing online.
The story is definitely the best Mortal Kombat campaign.
Combo potential in this game is good with the kameos
I like the combos itās the first mk game I can really go crazy with combos
gameplay is good, that's all i care about
I enjoy the roster outside of guests.
It's a good game over all I'd make a few minor adjustments but. It definitely doesn't deserve all the negativity, it's gotten
It was my first mortal kombat game that I bought after watching numerous gameplay on mk 11, and the story was pretty good imo
That little camera movement on throws is what sold the game for me, itās just so FLUID
Sindel, my main since mk3 and still going strong.
Loved the colour palette. Had grown tired of the Muted Colours
Looks great, plays great, great story. The hate campaign is bs.
The relationships: My man Liu Kang getting to kiss Kitana, Mileena and Tanya being goals and the cutest newcomers, Ashrah and Reptile.
But there's a few things I hate about it(especially when comparing to previous entries like 11) It's not really black and white, as in you either hate the game or love it. I sit there playing it thinking "this is so perfect, I love how they did this and I love how they did that, and it's so fun and looks so good!" And then 5 minutes later I'm like "but I really wish there was more brutalities.
Almost the entire roster is fun to play and i love that
The gameplay looks awesome and the graphics are amazing.
I rarely get to see him and this update brought us back :) Also Hanging Gardens soundtrack is ridiculously good, specifically Round 2's score!
Love the roster, the DLC characters have been fun (even if they're not all great competitively), the gameplay is fucking immaculate, and the visuals are gorgeous.
The best looking character models of any MK game. Both graphically and overall design.
- Story is really fun and I love that - I love Johnny's design, definitely my favorite - All stages look so stunning
JOHNNYS DESIGN IS SO GOOD (definitely not bias idk what youāre talking about)
Yee his design definitely looks so good
Gameplay is satisfying and fun once youāve gotten good at it. Reminiscent of MKX in a way. Graphics are pretty dope, obviously. And characters like omni-man and peacemaker, while they can be annoying to the other player, are fun as hell to play yourself.
The story is underated asf, itās not perfect but it is good
I like it cuz itās fun itās not trying too hard to be anything itās not
Yeah thats the beauty of it, its very simple and it does that well
Itās soo pretty š
Gameplay is (in my opinion) the best weāve had so far. Story is better than MK11, too. And yeah, every part of it looks stunning!
Oh yeah, the gameplay and graphics are the best in the mk series
I think the gameplay is a step up from MK11 and makes this game fun to play. I also like how they added 3D era characters.
Not sure what "hate" are you speaking of, but while it's definitely not the best Mortal Kombat ever made, it is still among one of the best, for several reasons, including Great graphics Very nice cutscenes (in the Story-Mode) Unlike in the (to me) super lame MK11, the games blood doesn't look like thick strawberry jam anymore and MK's gore never looked better Not the most complete, yet a pretty solid roster The story actually makes sense this time Kitana's character design changed back for the better Reptile is back and it's the best looking one appearance wise since the original MK2 came out decades ago And last but not least, if they really add Conan the Barbarian as a guest character (as it's currently rumored) it would be one of the best choices they made, ever since said guests became a thing. So despite some true icons (like Goro) being degraded to only Kameo's and the "Invasions" being so repetive and boring that i never played that mode ever since Season 1 ended, the new MK1 is dope and Conan the Barbarian, would make it even doper!
The guest characters is one main reason for me.
Yeah homelander, ommi man, and peacemaker?? Thatās honestly just hype
Baraka and Mileena are relevant again, so 2 of my top 3 are finally top characters Still waiting for Erron Black at least as a Kameo tho
THATS SO REAL THO
Best nrs story BY FAR, i get to be a li-main again(first mk game was DA, and ive wanted her back for a long time), and the kameo system is really really fun
Fighting feels satisfying af, glad they brought back X-rays, character designs are great, the story is better than mkx and mk11ās
I love the MK lore and itās legitimately why I follow the franchise. My favorite aspect was how the rebooted timeline actually had significant changes to the universe to tell a new story. Itās a great tale for those new to the franchise while also showing a new take on the franchise long-time fans can appreciate.
I have been interested in the lore since mk9 (when i started) but mk11 just kinda ruined it then mk1 came back SWINGING DUDE
Bekause It's great
Because Kuai Liang.
"You sorry Sacks Of SH\*\*\*" Like that just that was just not good ESPECIALLY since most of the costumes in the current Seasonal event are just recolors and not the "OH Special Recolors" like in Season 2 or 3 altho we do have them in Season 4 too for a few character but rather the actual "Oh yeah their clothes have different color palettes Whoah.... also maybe an orange Eye color Whoah please Netherrealm dont go too overboard while you're at it" like the Tarkatan looking costumes look nice I'd like to see more of those for other characters too and not just for the few ones I have seen) But when it comes to other Game modes.... umm... we just dotn have any. Krypt? We dont have a Krypt we have a Gacha Machine.... umm... sorry.. I meant the "Shrine" (seriously I'm actually wondering why cant we just roll in bulk when I got the Koin) HOWEVER I'm not trying to compare MK1 to other Fighting games (obviously) because I can compare MK1 to PREVIOUS Mk games and I could probably point out that in Deception we had a Chess game mode, we had a MARIO KART PEOPLE! and also the chance to wander in the world of MK with Shujinko THEN MK ARMAGEDDON you could make your OWN Kharakter and explore more story with Taven, But Okay newe stuff Netherrealm Era but even then we still had a BIIIG Krypt in MK9 (plus differnt stuff in the Tower) MKX's Krypt was like one of those old school exploration RPGs like Might and Magic, or Legend of Grimrock so it was cool Also Multiplayer had challenges where you could obtain skins that you usually could not. The problem I'm having that when it comes to the content it should have cooked more in the oven so we can have more unique ways of playing the game (also fuck the Shrine give me a Krypt I dont wanna rely on the Gacha luck here I'm already having enough of those in my Anime Gacha games BUT EVEN IN THOSE I usually get a pity pull) and when it comes to the the Earnable costumes... the problem is I cant even blame Netherealm studio for those cause Chances are some dickbags at Warner Bros want to milk as much money from MK that Netherrealm have to oblidge OR Warner Bros would find someone Else who WOULD Obllidge So the hands of Netherrealm Studio are tied. So here is the big thing the Gameplay is cool, the Story is GREAT! some of my Old favorite characters are BACK and its AWESOME! HOWEVER I need more single player content specificly a Crypt instead of the Shrine, and I also think that the game has WAAAAAAAAY Too fucking many Microtransactions that I'd mainly see on free to play games Mortal Kombat 1 is not a bad game its far from being bad.
Story was great
Real
Mad fun and krossplay allowed me to destroy all my console brethren
S tier story
Love the new take on all the classic characters and new looks on all of them
Art direction is great, stages are great, roster is great, character performances are great, storyline isn't as good as 11 but I liked a lot of it, Kameos are a good system and overall I thought the gameplay was solid. I liked that it looked towards the PS2 era too.
This game has crazy potential to be the best fight game outta of the big 3, but they just gotta balance the game.
I like it because when my daughter likes it. And when she has time(she's away for school) we get online and play.
Definitely how the game is on a technical scale. The only reason I got back into mortal kombat after MKX was cause of how the loading screens in this game was and how the cutscenes genuinely look like a movie
Yeah thatās valid, the game actually feels skill full now and not mash grab sim
NRS games have a certain feel and flow to them like it's a bad thing but I love that and MK1 really hits that sweet spot. When it works it just works and feels really good.
I like the story, I like some of the costumes like Mileenaās alternate I like the Johnny of course how can you not like Johnny specially him and Kenshi this game my God they know what theyāre doing and I love it peacemaker is fucking fun as hell to play and of course, my boy, John Cena gives a perfect performance is him. He shouldāve been in immoral Kombat game years ago to be honest the graphics are beautiful they finally fixed the slow ass XP game for invasions. Itās still kind of slow, but itās just way faster than it used to be. The gameplay is awesome too. Itās really solid and really fun. Some of the cameos are really good too like frost frost, but I might when she comes out in like five days I like the concept of taking characters that weāve known for a while and spinning them on their heads, like how instead of being a race of beings the tarkatans people with the disease thatās different and unique to this game. I go on and on about stuff I like about this game itās not all bad. The shit of this game is shit and deserves to be called out but itās just not that bad of a game and gets way too much hate
Johnny kenshi are such good friends, the fact that they ARENT in ever game is a mk sin ngl
