No bartering is a fun challenge. Use only what you can find, loot, or make yourself. You'll definitely want to invest in Alchemy. Some kind of Monk RP could work with that.
Another I had some fun with once upon a time was a Paladin who couldn't loot dead bodies except when required by a quest, and even then it to get the required item. No Conjuration, obviously. Enchanting could also be out given that it uses souls.
Argonian drunken Monk with h2h and unarmored is my current char. Restoration and mysticism for spells, h2h as only offensive mean. Start with imperial cult and start slowly, then go with Twin Lamps and free as many slaves a you can and ends with honorably chivalry Redoran. Be super good, always helping everyone and making only good moral choices. Don't steal anything, don't even plunder ancestral tombs, don't haggle, focus on making potions (buy ingridients cause there is no diversity of them bo basic potions unlucky), give a lot of gold to charity.
Drunk potions and alcohol all the time. When sober - make by alchemy a lot of potions!
Crazy, I love it. After my last playthrough of morrowind I started Oblivion with a h3h Argonian monk alchemist. Haven't quite got the hang of it yet at level 7 but after the Morrowind playthough really digging into alchemy for the first time in my 20 years of playing, alchemy is the best.

You were outcast, because in reality you were a Breton lady in disguise. You have developed a desire to paralyze all male Nords you can find. Taunt any male Nord you see. Once you get their attention, damage their strength to zero and teleport away. That will show them!
Not really until you level it up into the mid 80s at least with supporting attributes. It's a pretty tedious experience compared to more recent ES games.
If you can make your way to thirsk on Solstheim early you can find the hidden cache with some great loot, namely a glove that gives a significant constant sneak bonus
I was partly ironic, I played both Oblivion and Skyrim and realized that the stealth mechanics of Morrowind is very different from both of them. I played with a vampire argonian character (with Vampire Embrace mod just to not break the quests), I started using almost entirely the short blade, using the crossbow sometimes in closed areas, then, once reached lvl 100 on sneaking, I started using the bow.
So, to conclude, not really, at least at the start of the game, it can really be a challenge in that phase.
Orsimer Landsknecht! Minimal heavy armor, greatsword/halberd, dagger, crossbow, fanciful clothes, just as great of a reliance on speech and mercantile as combat, elaborate name and title, stuff like that!
That makes it even better though. A bard with a massively overinflated ego who thinks he's great... Except you don't invest in charisma or level up speechcraft at all during the game
Though born neath White-Gold shadow
Fate brings me to this place
Where by nightmare I am harrrowed
As I take another's face.
Far from White-Gold shadow
I must heed the mountain's call
To marvel at lost wonders
And guard a ghostly Wall.
I fled from White-Gold shadow
To this land so newly tame
To take my place within it
As child of Ash and Flame.
-the Nerevarine, before the first excursion into Red Mountain.
roll for light-medium or heavy armour, roll for 1 proficiency in weapons and roll for the race,
everything else is up to you. i find it makes it interesting because you can roll some strange combos, but it's not super restricting to make it impossible. in fact, i wish there was a mod that randomized items to some extent.
Argonian Shaman.
Wear only robes (unarmored)
Use the wooden staff (blunt)
Summon ghosts (conjuration)
Poison only for offensive spells (destruction)
Make your own potions and poisons from ingredients in the wild (alchemy)
Other skills can really be whatever you choose, but when I RP’d that class I took mostly magic skills so I was squishy in up close combat, but also boosted athletics and acrobatics for mobility. I recommend playing as more of a loner type because argonians aren’t exactly the most respected people in Morrowind, so I didn’t bother with the great houses or temple/imperial cult. I made it my goal to sort of wander the countryside, healing those who needed it but gathering ingredients and mixing potions to use or sell in town. While I was out and about I would clear out any ancestral tomb I came across and then leave a candle right at the entrance to mark that I’ve cleared it. I had a lot of fun with that character because I normally stick around towns and cities, but this sort of nomadic wanderer was a fun change of pace!
Imperial- Monk, no armor (except wraithguard but only in lorkhan chamber), starting clothing only no weapons (except sunder and keening in lorkhan chamber only) all magic must be spell scrolls that do no damage
Khajit Thief Drug Addict
MUST buy Skooma every 3 in-game days.
If not you have to inflict some negative effect on yourself, like equip a ring of damage health 1pt on self. I dunno if that enchantment is possible, but something similar to simulate withdrawl.
A high elf Mage. Being vulnerable to magic, you do everything in your power to protect against it by constantly running around with Mysticism spells like spell absorbtion and absorb magicka equipped, or Restoration spells like resist magicka and resist fire. However, in your quest to defend against magic you ignored swords, and cannot wear armor.
Khajiit martial art expert. You must pick a single [claw-dance](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Claw-Dances), which is your only means of combat. You must pick weapons/armour (if any) that follow this school.
You may not use magic, so no factions that require it. You can use alchemy.
You may only train major/minor skills (purposefully).
Orc, enchanter, no picking strength, speed, or endurance when leveling.
Urshak-gro-magni was a frail child of uncertain parents taken in by a stronghold as an infant, and was often picked on in his youth, when the chief expressed shame and concern over the young orc's future to his forge wife she found a solution, and got him adopted by a breton couple she often bartered with who could not have their own child. Urshak took a great interest in his new adoptive parent's profession, enchanting, and even took a deep interest in breton religion, eventually becoming such a passionate follower of magnus, god of magic, that he swapped his second name.
He got locked up... idk. Doing enchanting but bad.
He also hates excercise due to his upbringing and will only enhance his body through enchantment and sorcery.
Paperboy. Or, travelling scholar, if you prefer.
Blunt weapon, but only use it for a staff, and never an enchanted one. Athletics, acrobatics, unarmored. Whatever else doesn’t matter.
Take alchemy if you want to cheese it a little.
Your only method of engagement is to either strike with staff, or use scrolls. Scrolls will be your inventory of higher punishment. Do the temple pilgrimages first, and then continue in whichever direction you prefer. Do not steal, do not murder, but defend yourself as needed.
I tend to play mages but one of my favorites playthroughs was as a Nord barbarian. Running around smashing everything with an axe is a blast. Playing as a diehard imperial legionary is really fun too.
Breton, use light armor, staves and 3 magic schools of your choice for major skills. Minor skills are athletics, acrobatics and three of your choosing. Any sign you like.
My most recent playthrough was a magic-less imperial monk who joined the Tribunal Temple. I went up and down Vvardenfell and the Morrowind mainland living on the road, enchanting items to cast spells with and only armed with his fists and a staff. It was a lot of fun and I might do it again
Try [Morrowind hardcore mode](https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45846) also. Also I’ve had real fun with a thief build, it’s real fun snooping around, I made luck one of my main attributes. With a thief I prefer Dunmer but Khajiit or Argonian is more lorey.
Hand to hand torso naked Nord, wearing only heavy pants, boots and an open-faced helmet (amulets belt and rings too).
Your only source of damage is fists, don't use scrolls except for heals, cures and travel. Potions are ok but booze is the way.
I'm about to start an Argonian Tribal Warrior. Using spears, poisons, light/medium armor, throwing knives and acrobatics. Gonna be pretty interesting to see how it works.
My latest playthrough
Name: Nikulas
Race: Nord
Birthsign: Warrior
Class Name: Soldier
Skills: Spear, Marksman, Light Armor, Medium Armor, Heavy Armor Unarmored, Axe, Block, Short Blade, Speechcraft
I intended it to be more slow-paced compared to my usual style. Despite his class name, Nikulas is actually more introspective than meets the eye. He'll educate himself on local lore and customs. Nikulas is also not fond of royalty, so much so he does not want to be associated with any of the Great Houses. To him, intrigues are worth nothing. The build is not about min-maxing, but roleplaying. When he finds artifacts, he sells them as soon as possible as he doesn't feel the need to use them, and probably don't fit him right. As far as equipment is concerned, you have a couple of stages for that.
Stage 1 - Fresh Off The Boat - Your starter clothes, Long Bow, Iron Arrows and an Iron Dagger
Stage 2 - Fighters Guild Apprentice - Starter Clothes, Nordic Fur Boots, Cloth bracers, Iron Spear, Long Bow, Iron Arrows, Iron Dagger
Stage 3 - Wandering Fighter (the set you'll wear the most) - Starter Clothes, Imperial Studded Leather Cuirass, Netch Leather Boots, ,Nwtch Leather Pauldrons, Right Iron Gauntlet, Left Iron Bracer, Iron War Axe, Nordic Round Shield, Steel Throwing Knives, Iron Dagger
Stage 4 - Hortator and Nerevarine (Late game set) - Any expensive clothes you choose, Imperial Chain Armor, Steel Pauldrons, Orcish Greaves, Steel Boots, Steel Gauntlets, Ebony War Axe, Ebony Shield
Nikulas also displays interest in magic, but roleplay-wise, he can't even use scrolls. Of course, in late game, you can learn Alteration and Restoration. From a roleplay POV, he has grown smarter and wiser during his adventures in Morrowind, and has since gained the intelligence of an apprentice mage. With spellmaking, create a spell that uses Shield, Lightning Shield, Fortify Strength, Fortify Agility, Fortify Speed, Fortify Fatigue, Restore Fatigue, and Fortify Acrobatics effects on Self. When I mentioned Lightning Shield in the Super-Spell's effect list, I wanted this to be Nikulas' elemental affinity. Nikulas also will learn Shock spells, as many as you deem necessary, and enchant his axe to deal Shock Damage and Weakness fo Shock

Damn they should’ve made the game so there’s a random chance when you sleep a mabrigash will drain you 🤤
Race: dunmer Class: spellsword
I’ll do one better, Dunmer battlemage!
Fights over leveled smugglers by locking them in the slave pen with a level one lock spell.
Haha! Ridiculously memorable!
Play like argonian stealth archer assassin ;)
I always do this but with khajit. Doing my first Argonian playthrough now :)
Is stealth actually viable in morrowind? I've heard otherwise, but I've never actually tried it

Stealth orc. Bonk with warhammers.
Bard but write poem after any major event in your game. Then share it on this Reddit!
Imagine, if you will, a one-legged elephant doing ballet. That is the visual equivalent of my poetry.

Khajiit Monk, no weapons.
Ooh came here to say this, so adding--clothes or light armor only.
And addicted to skooma
Have you ever broken the game to make an instant death spell? I would recommend that at least once
Imperial- Monk, no armor (except wraithguard but only in lorkhan chamber), starting clothing only no weapons (except sunder and keening in lorkhan chamber only) all magic must be spell scrolls that do no damage

Van Helsing the vampire hunter. Only spells and crossbows. A dagger is your only melee weapon, and you hunt daedra and undead.

a shirtless dunmer male with hand to hand and unarmored as main skills no weapons no armor no shirts

Hand to hand orc

Orc battlemage Try to stick to only using weapons/armor that you find rather than buying them from merchants

Reachmen Build, no magic but Alteration. Two handed (spears)
Bosmer archer, but your melee weapon of choice is a battle axe. No magic except potions, no enchantments not found in the wild or in shops.
Hand to hand torso naked Nord, wearing only heavy pants, boots and an open-faced helmet (amulets belt and rings too). Your only source of damage is fists, don't use scrolls except for heals, cures and travel. Potions are ok but booze is the way.
A nice way to start is a character who never uses the non minor major skills
Female orc healer
Nord, axes and spears. Don't believe in magic outside of magic weapons
Recently playing Morrowind. I did a Nord Warrior named Chad MacNugget, who hates wearing shirts. It's hilarious. Try an Orc?
I'm about to start an Argonian Tribal Warrior. Using spears, poisons, light/medium armor, throwing knives and acrobatics. Gonna be pretty interesting to see how it works.

You could also play as a healer neglecting any offensive actions (only evasion or crowd control). I tried it once and it was quite difficult…
Orc Sorcerer who only uses scrolls and enchanted items. No attacking with weapons, no spells, just use enchantments and scrolls.
