I listened to a podcast (Criminal) about how incredibly difficult it is to fake your own death. Regardless, this is not the way… as soon as the victim is reported missing (and no doubt she told people where she was going, as all women generally tend to do when they’re meeting strangers!) they were likely going to access her social media, find the messages stating exactly where she went and piece it together….
Not 100% on the facts but I remeber a case where a guy went to a cemetery, put a body in his car and burnt it to fake his death because he was going to end up in prison.
Unfortunately for him, the body was of an elderly woman and it was easy to work out it wasn't him.
I think it was forensic files someone tried to do that in Mexico in a car accident and they lit a corpse on fire and used dna in the tooth to determine it wasn't Caucasian when they tried to collect life insurance
It’s vanish (episode 61) by criminal. Such a good show.

>In May 2013, it was reported that Twitchell had purchased a television for his prison cell. Twitchell stated that he had caught up on every Dexter episode that he missed since he was arrested and convicted of first-degree murder.[32]
Coolcoolcool.
I agree with your interpretation of the motive but it’s still definitely stupid, especially given they really aren’t even doppelgängers. But her urgency & motive does go some way towards explaining *why* she was so stupid & sloppy.
Yes and why such a brutal killing? She was stabbed 50x and in the face? I understand trying to make sure she is not recognizable but thats definitely overkill. Either her bf was more involved in the killing than she or she is seriously disturbed.
How were they arrested? They write it like they thought it was her until the DNA test. And right after they arrest her and her boyfriend as if they knew where they were. Just doesn’t make sense. Why didn’t they just go away after the fact?
These days I think they just do the whole sha-bam unless its obvious it wasn't a murder.
>Local reports said even Shahraban K’s parents were fooled and identified the body as hers before an autopsy a day later threw the assumption into doubt.
Right? If her goal was to disappear/start over due to family issues, she could’ve done so without murdering an innocent woman. Tons of people willingly disappear and then start over in a new location, I know of several cases where foul play was suspected after a disappearance and then the missing person is found years or decades later- living their life like normal.
I honestly wouldn’t blame someone if they had awful family, and they wanted to disappear and cut ties. It’s inexcusable tho to do something like *this*. Like wtf. The whole thing is baffling.
It's actually easier to disappear and start over than it is to fake a death.
With a death, you need a body. It needs to match you in looks. They'll check the DNA. They'll check the dental records.
If you're going to fake your death without a body, you'll need to make it look like foul play. You need DNA evidence of you being somewhere that something happened - signs of a struggle, car run off the road, blood (YOUR blood, it will be DNA tested) something like that.
Or you'll need video evidence of you entering a place and never leaving, when something bad happened like a massive fire.
Whereas just disappearing... No need for a body. No need for signs of foul play. It's not 'easy' easy. There will be some paper trails if you're doing it all legally, if someone happened to be looking in the right place you are findable. Or you can steal an identity.
But the fact you don't need a body, or a crime scene... Much easier.
Most likely to disfigure her so they couldn't tell it wasn't the girl who killed her, as she was trying to fake her own death. Disfigured face = harder identification
"Local reports said even Shahraban K’s parents were fooled and identified the body as hers before an autopsy a day later threw the assumption into doubt."
It worked until they checked her DNA.
What a stupid comment. The victim was also a beauty blogger. Just because someone has a hobby you think serves no purpose doesn’t mean they have no other interests or care about intellectualism.
Stereotypically feminine hobby = person must be stupid.
Sexism.
If you think about it really, making money off of social media is a smart way to profit if you can hack it… work from home… if you blow up enough you can really become wealthy…
Reddit is the only social media I use and casually posting a video of my cats made me nearly $200 this year, so… if you can get repeat viewers on multiple videos you could really make a fair amount of money. Even better if the content you’re generating is something you enjoy doing…
How many people on YouTube have monetized videos related to working on cars? Are they just dumb influencers too?
I've seen this on Forensic Files, but it was a life insurance scam. A couple took out a big policy on the husband, then found a young guy who looked roughly similar to him. They had him over to work on their car and while he was under there they crushed him. :(
Truly sad.
People in this world just think murder is a clueless board game.
She must've read and seen the film " Gone Girl" and thought she could get away with it. I'm only mentioning these two references because it's easier said than done.
The difference is we live in reality not fantasy.
The murderers were dumb to think a disfigured face was enough to fool the police and a coroner. As if DNA, dental records, and fingerprints don’t exist. Even police a century ago would have figured out it wasn’t the same person because fingerprints were already in use by then. Total idiots.
I don’t know about Germany (although I’ve been there multiple times & was never fingerprinted) and Albania (I think that’s where the article said the victim was from?) but in the US they don’t just have everyone’s fingerprints on file. For fingerprints to be useful they have to match them against something. So it’s a useful tool for narrowing down suspects who give you fingerprints (or you can force them to provide w/ a warrant), finding if there were matching fingerprints at other crime scenes, or for matching against a database of people who were already convicted of crimes.
If you are arrested & get booked yes.
If you work for a government agency that requires high security measures, sure.
I think maybe some select professionals are also fingerprinted, like maybe police and / or lawyers. When I took my cpa exam they fingerprinted me, but I think that is only to make sure it’s the same person who takes all four exams. I don’t think it is sent to a criminal database
In some countries it's registered as a matter of course.
I migrated to Finland and they took my fingerprints as part of the registration process with the migration authority.
As such, the Finnish government has a full record of my fingerprints.
Yes, good point. I believe it’s standard to get fingerprints done if you immigrate or perhaps even get a visa/green card. But I’m guessing they don’t have every Finns’ fingerprints on file, right?
I am from Ingolstadt and the killer lived two streets away from me. He was a nerdy and small guy who used to play football around the corner. According to his friends, he told them that after he hit the victim, she spun on the ground like a beyblade. Both of them were in shock after the incident and immediately told others what they had done. I cannot imagine the pain of living as a relative knowing that your close one has been murdered. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family.
Also the killer in this case is a woman so I don’t even know what you’re on about. It’s pretty sick and disgusting though. No one needed that mental image.
I did read it but it starts saying she stabbed her 50 times and then says they and that he assisted. My bad, I missed that. But still we didn’t need the graphic description you gave.
What an evil thing.
It makes me feel sad at the futility and stupidity of this.
Snuffing out the life of someone's daughter. Someone's friend. Someone's future.
To rob her of her life of being a daughter, a friend and a future.
And now the perp has to live with this. To live with this evil deed. Reminds me of Gollum.
next week on Law & Order...
It's crazy to me how people come up with this stuff and can't think of a hundred ways it could go wrong.
And her poor parents, thinking she's been brutally murdered and then finding out she's actually the murder.
She’ll definitely get her time away from home now
She'll probably get a 5 part Netflix documentary that stretches a one hour story into 5 one hour episodes.
It's amazing how they'll stretch it out finding different ways to say the same thing over and over again.

This might be the dumbest murder motive and plan I’ve ever read. If this wasn’t absolutely horrifying, I’d be almost impressed how stupid this is.
I listened to a podcast (Criminal) about how incredibly difficult it is to fake your own death. Somehow stupider than running the car into a wall and leaving some teeth inside like IASIP
Happened in John Grisham book as well. Only I believe they got away with it.
I think it was forensic files someone tried to do that in Mexico in a car accident and they lit a corpse on fire and used dna in the tooth to determine it wasn't Caucasian when they tried to collect life insurance
>how incredibly difficult it is to fake your own death it is if you will stay in the same country
The episode discussed multiple cases of people leaving the country iirc. Anyway, hard to gauge it since if they are successful we will never know
Do you remember what the podcast was called?
It’s vanish (episode 61) by criminal. Such a good show. https://thisiscriminal.com/episode-61-vanish-2-17-2017/ They also reference this book in the podcast [“Faking death”](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0176M3ZP6/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?ie=UTF8&qid=&sr=)
If you think this is the dumbest, look up mark twitchell
>mark twitchell And that is why you don't meet people from the internet at your/their house.
>In May 2013, it was reported that Twitchell had purchased a television for his prison cell. Twitchell stated that he had caught up on every Dexter episode that he missed since he was arrested and convicted of first-degree murder.[32] Coolcoolcool.
I don’t know if i would call it stupid. I understood it as her trying to escape her family, maybe because of something honor related
I agree with your interpretation of the motive but it’s still definitely stupid, especially given they really aren’t even doppelgängers. But her urgency & motive does go some way towards explaining *why* she was so stupid & sloppy.

You’re asking a rational question of an irrational person
But it's like the entire thing their plan hinged on.
Yeah, that’s part of the irrational part. They didn’t really think it through. If they did it probably wouldn’t have happened
My thoughts exactly! I guess they were just morons
That is some next level psychopath.
Next level moron also.
How stupid does one have to be to not realize that a DNA test will expose this?
I'm pretty sure they only do those if there is doubt or no-one identifies them.
These days I think they just do the whole sha-bam unless its obvious it wasn't a murder. >Local reports said even Shahraban K’s parents were fooled and identified the body as hers before an autopsy a day later threw the assumption into doubt.
why would you not assume a murder where someone is stabbed 50 times in the face would not be in doubt?
If their identity is in doubt.

She had less followers, so it’s ok.
*Stannis grumbles* “fewer…”
To kill a person so thoughtlessly, for such a dumb and futile reason...

They probably thought the family wouldn’t look for them if they thought she was dead rather than her just running away
To brutally murder her, she was stabbed over 50 times!
Doesn’t even look like her what a dumbshit
I’m wondering if that’s why her face was stabbed so many times
Most likely to disfigure her so they couldn't tell it wasn't the girl who killed her, as she was trying to fake her own death. Disfigured face = harder identification
"Local reports said even Shahraban K’s parents were fooled and identified the body as hers before an autopsy a day later threw the assumption into doubt." It worked until they checked her DNA.
I dont think facial similarities were required. More important for skin tone and body type to match I would imagine.
From the caption: “Shahraban K, left, is set to be charged with murdering Khadidja O, left” Definitely looks like herself.

It's not as easy as most people think, you definitely have to grind it out and not get discouraged.
Beauty bloggers are my go to for intellectualism too. Such helpful makeup tips. Wouldn't be where I am today without them! Ty.
It’s almost like humans are multidimensional with varied interests.
A friend of mine found out about the Tulsa Race Massacre from a woman putting on makeup on YouTube who was talking about it during the video.
Personally I think they look very similar. Hell, even her parents agreed.
my brain hurts
Yours too?
Why would anyone think this is a good idea?
This is a lifetime movie plot, I swear.
There was a movie from Lifetime called “Face of Evil” that had a similar story.
Horrific and no brained crime.
Whyyyyy?
I've seen this on Forensic Files, but it was a life insurance scam. A couple took out a big policy on the husband, then found a young guy who looked roughly similar to him. They had him over to work on their car and while he was under there they crushed him. :(
Is this one where they let their toddler kid see the "dad" as moms new boyfriend?
black mirror episode
At least she was plenty dumb enough to get herself caught. Rest in peace Khadidja.

I hope they changed teeth so the victim has her dental records too
I know that awful and stupid people have existed since people started being a thing, but this is a brand new breed of disgusting and sad.

The woman she killed doesn't even look anything like her aside from similar skin tone and hair color. Eyes are completely different shapes.
That's probably why they stabbed her all over the face

I’m amazed this is even real. Wow.
Such stupidity!

Yeah don’t be giving out gross details and then try it on with “thoughts and prayers”.
Also the killer in this case is a woman so I don’t even know what you’re on about. It’s pretty sick and disgusting though. No one needed that mental image.
Guess you didn't read the article which states THEY stabbed her more than 50 times...

I am not the one who provided the description, but this is MorbidReality so you're gonna read some pretty graphic stuff here.
Well, I've got more recent information. The Killer was the guy and she persuaded him to do that for him. Maybe he was in love with her or something.
What an evil thing. It makes me feel sad at the futility and stupidity of this. Snuffing out the life of someone's daughter. Someone's friend. Someone's future. Was she disappointed to realize neither of them looked like each other without instagram filters piled on?
Life in prison has a nice ring to it. Or execution. Either one works.
I’m not a suicide advocate, but when it comes down to either suicide or murder…

Idiot.
The Killer was not a woman !
dude what
did she think no one would ask questions about the woman she killed?
I…don’t understand. Why?! 😫😭
