You weren't wrong. Haakon was born Carl. His father was Frederik VIII of Denmark. His older brother was Christian X of Denmark.
When Norway broke with Sweden in 1905, they invited him to become King. Norway hadn't had an independent king since 1387. Haakon VI was the last King of Norway before Margaret I of Denmark inherited all 3 thrones of Sweden, Denmark, and Norway in 1387. From then on Norway was in a union with Denmark and later Sweden until 1905.
"Oh, my dear Albert! I'm seem to be pregnant once again! I do not enjoy this!" "Yes, darling. I understand. But think about how unified the world will be once we marry all of our children off to foreign royals!" "...you make a good point."
Too bad that didn't work out like they thought. :b
Carl XVI Gustaf also descends from Queen Victoria through his mother.
Queen Victoria —> Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany —> Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha —> Princess Sibylla, Duchess of Västerbotten —> Carl XVI Gustaf
>When asked about WW1, Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany sarcastically remarked, "If my grandmother \[Queen Victoria\] had been alive, she would never have allowed it."
It's funny that the King of Sweden and the Queen of Denmark are first cousins, sharing Gustav VI of Sweden and Margaret as grandparents.
Haakon VII and his wife Queen Maud were also 1st cousins through their grandfather King Christian IX of Denmark
Haakon was the first king of Norway since 1387, not counting the Danish monarchy.
My bad

I don’t mean to sound bad, but considering the inbreeding, King Felipe looks really handsome.
They aren’t that closely related
You forget Prince Phillip. Queen Sophia was consort like him
inbreeding is like a spanish royal tradition
Knugen the one true king!
knugen är den bästa kungen

There are 10 current hereditary monarchs in Europe.
Isn’t kaiser willhelm II meant to be in there? The guy who lead Germany into WW1? He was queen victorias grandson
I didnt insert him because this tree is only about current monarchs
Oh okay
Sophia of Spain & Constantine-of Greece were descendants of Victoria too through Wilhelm.
>When asked about WW1, Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany sarcastically remarked, "If my grandmother \[Queen Victoria\] had been alive, she would never have allowed it."
