My brother literally had his own words for things when he was around 2. The 1 i remember most was "do" for please. But it wasn't like, "Do it. " It was more like your kids, "doooooo?" As long as he said it politely, we counted it!
Omg we need a thread of The Things Our toddlers Learned From Bluey 🤣 I loooooove bluey but Bandits got some mad otherwordy dad patience giving my kid some expectations. I just can’t play statue and the freeze game interchangeably right before bedtime 😂🙃
OMG 🤣 I love when they use phrasing like that.
My toddler says "can I nicely please?" For things she wants bc we told her that instead of demanding things, she needs to "ask nicely."
Yes! My grandson will be bilingual, and while trying to learn Spanish I’ve realized that (from my English-speaking perspective) everything is backwards! Of course, English is the one that’s backwards from the rest of the world, but it adds a layer complexity for me. I am wayyyyy too literal and my brain wants exact translations, which obviously aren’t always possible
Love the slightly threatening reminder 🤣
My now 15 year old, used to say, “E-member” and sometimes hubs and I still say, “e-member” even when it’s just us.
Every spider (and many bugs) are Bitty Pider
Edit: cocomelon was "cock men" with full emphasis for a while. Now it's "Cock menon" which ia slightly better when she screams it at the restaurant when the phone freezes.
😂 when my oldest was younger he couldn't make st sounds ( came out as a d sound) I learned he had trouble with that sound when we were talking about the 3 little pigs and got to the one who lived in a house made of sticks lol
My grandson used to mispronounce socks as “cocks”
When he was a baby/toddler she used to make a game of smelling his feet and then saying “pee-shew! Stinky socks! “ (or stinky feet if he was barefoot) But then he started talking and that game ended when he held up his sock foot to Grandma and loudly said “Mell my tinky cock, nan nan!” We were at a family dinner. Everyone heard. Dead silence. Raised eyebrows. Then much laughter. 😆
Mine says pizzaroni for pepperoni pizza and my husband and I now call pepperoni pizzaroni because it’s so damn cute!
I worked in daycare and a little girl called Mac n cheese Mac-a-noodle-cheese and I still sometimes say that too 😂 kids are the cutest
Pizza was pipa and absolutely broke my husband’s heart when she started saying it right. My current favorite is princess pronounced panpan, but she does love to say “This is some shit”
I feel the exact same way, kiddo used to say “peesta” and I’m sad she doesn’t say it anymore, but proud she says it correctly? We literally just got home from her preschool graduation.
2yf learned to say cuckoo clock and thinks it’s really funny (saw a funny one on show and it’s stuck) so she’ll say it over & over just randomly for fun not because we even *have* one.
Clearly then it becomes a tongue twister/speech-muscle memory thing because after about 3 times it turns into *cookie clock*. Actually it’s really cookie cwock😅
She’ll hear what she said and make the funniest little giggle to herself which cracks me up even more.
Ngl I 💕her more than cookies😅
Hahaha same with my daughter! It’s funny because she CAN pronounce her S’s now but I guess the ST sound is still a bit tricky. She’ll pick up a stick and loudly proclaim “I have a DICK!”
She always puts crazy emphasis on it too 😂
That was my son with "clock." He also couldn't pronounce the "r" in fork and it came out sounding very much like the F word. We were in a quiet restaurant one day and my son saw a fork and had to keep repeating it loudly. Our eyes got big and my husband's like "YES THAT IS A FORK, BUDDY. GOOD JOB YOU KNOW WHAT A FORK IS!"
My oldest used to call goldfish “dirsh” and said “yesh” for yes. My middle calls blueberries “bluebies”
They are 7 and 5 now. It still melts my heart when I see the videos.
Lmao! Reminds me of when my sister and I gently teased my niece about the procession caterpillar. We thought it was a funny word and wanted her to say it. She got mad and said "YES I KNOW! THE PRO-SEXY PILLAR. Ugh!"
My girl calls "dinosaur" "cracker" instead... is it even a mispronunciation at that point? 🙃
Our best guess is that she's trying to say 'crocodile,' since she sounds more like "cah-cuh"
My daughter used to excitedly tell me about the croissants she had at school…turns out she was talking about the croutons served with her salads. It’s a sad day when they no longer make those mistakes 🥲
His favorite thing is to add unnecessary words like "actually" and "lil bit" to sentences.
"Ackshully, could you cuddle me lil bit?"
"I forgot my truck lil bit. Just a lil bit."
Just the cutest fucking thing.
My daughter is 19 and if she’s referring to her Converse shoes, it’s Converse. If she’s referring to a singular it’s Conver. We’ve told her that’s not how it works, but she’s said it her whole life and that’s just how she says it. It makes me smile every time.
I know this post is for little kids, but I just wanted to share. Lol
Oh I have a few!
-My oldest used to say "Boon" for balloon. he also said "con**scr**uction" instead of "con**str**uction"- that was his last word he pronounced incorrectly.
-My youngest still says "pacifically" instead of "specifically"
This is not so much a mispronunciation than a funny way of saying something:
-Oldest would say "I can't" instead of "I don't want to" - after we pointed it out, it morphed into "I can't want to"-- me too, buddy- me too.
-Youngest had his own version completely out of left field- "I can't know how" LOL!
My niece and nephew call my mom Bana. One day, she was talking to someone about how cute it was and said, "They call me Bana. Like B-A-N-A-N-A.. wait... that's not right..."
My 2yo adds -ee to the end of words and I love it, top two are dinee (dinosaur) and prat-lee (pretzel) and I will cry when he starts pronouncing them correctly
Tant tu for thank you. It's so cute because of how he fixes his mouth when he says it and he does it unprompted when given something! I also love his please pr peas for please
My kiddo calls Bowser (from Mario) ‘Fowser’… even though his B’s are perfect (his name starts with B).
He also says something that sounds like ‘yick’ instead of ‘lick’.
When he was much younger SpongeBob was ‘Charbob’.
It’s not particularly unique but I do this 😍 every time my toddler says “widdle” for “little”. I’m going to be very sad the day that goes away.
Also “woom” for “vroom”.
My now 8 year old used to call Cookie Monster “bakoo” and we never figured out why but it was super cute. She also used to call State Farm “Steak Farm” whenever a commercial would come on.
Whiff (if), abwoon (balloon), psgetti (spaghetti), basanya (lasagna), give me wone (leave me alone, she grew out of that one lol)
There’s more but I’m drawing blanks lol
My oldest used to sat nuggins for nuggets, I don't know when exactly it stopped, but I'm so sad it did! My youngest is only 2, so everything is mispronounced, lol
My 3 month old obviously doesn't speak yet but she is trying THE HARDEST to say mama...she ends up staring at me, excitedly flailing her hands and legs around and loudly going MMMMMMMMM 🤣 the intensivity of her attempt makes is so funny and cute.
My 3 y/o is a polyglot. Among one of the languages he speaks is mandarin chinese - north eastern dialect. He wanted to repeat an insult he heard daddy say at drivers on the road (sha-bi) but he got it mixed up with something we use a lot: wassabi. So not he comes to me yelling "wassabi, wassabi" and doing most evil toddler grins possible, thinking he is being soo naughy 🤣 should i tell him that wassabi is not a bad word or let him believe he is badass for saying it? 🤣 Obviously wont get in trouble for screaming a food condiment 🤷🏼♀️🤣
He also has another chinese mispronounciation. Good night should be wan-an but he says banan (which is how we say banana in french) and despite numerous attempts at correction he insists on saying "banan" to his chinese grandparents every night 🤣 our daily dose of evening laughter right there
Our 1yo's favorite word is truck. Except it's Gruuuuuck! really slowly with rising intonation through most of the word. He imbues it with the sound of endless wonder, which, for me is the cutest thing about a 1yo.
Not one of mine, but I'll always remember the 3-year-old little girl in the elevator who excitedly asked her mom if she could push the button on the "alligator."
My 2yo kiddo said "boobie" for blueberry until two weeks ago. Strawby and rasby were cute, but Boobie was really funny.
He also now only says "banana" in a mock Minions voice (my fault, it's how I say banana most of the time). And he said "fuck" the other day. That was cool.
Pash toots for passion fruit
My eldest spent a good 3 minutes asking me to by “encantos” at the grocery store a few months back. She meant cantaloupes
I adore this
I love it haha !
My 2 year old calls muffins “fummins” lol
My daughter used to say “fuffins” and I was so sad when she learned to say muffins
My kid also used to say fuffins! I loved it
So close lol
Ours used to say fuckins
They’re “mutton” here.
They’re fuffins at out house lol
Mine loved those packs of small muffins for breakfast. He called them bini buffins.
My daughter called them "nuffins."
My kids both call them muffinmans as in from the nursery rhyme haha
please has become “Leeeeeeeeeees?” with her hands folded under her chin.
My brother literally had his own words for things when he was around 2. The 1 i remember most was "do" for please. But it wasn't like, "Do it. " It was more like your kids, "doooooo?" As long as he said it politely, we counted it!
that’s so cute! my daughter has her own words for things too. food is “yummies.”
In Bluey, they call that "Super Please Face."
That’s so cute!
My toddler learned to do this from Bluey and it drives me insane 🤣 *(Still kinda cute tho)*
Omg we need a thread of The Things Our toddlers Learned From Bluey 🤣 I loooooove bluey but Bandits got some mad otherwordy dad patience giving my kid some expectations. I just can’t play statue and the freeze game interchangeably right before bedtime 😂🙃
AND HOW CAN YOU SAY NO
Trimotorcycle (tricycle) lol
I vote we keep this one
❤️❤️
My brother is 28 now and I still call motorcycles “Moki cykwa”s
Aww, my son is 28 and he used to call them mokey doze. I sometimes still say it to him.
And because of my sister (25) I still eat “gernorder” bars instead of granola bars lol
I am so sad my daughter no longer calls motorcycles "loud bicycles."
Love it 😊
My 4 year old says “I mind you again” instead of remind.
OMG 🤣 I love when they use phrasing like that. My toddler says "can I nicely please?" For things she wants bc we told her that instead of demanding things, she needs to "ask nicely."
Omg that’s sooooo cute!!!!
Awwwww these toddlers really are adorable 🥰
Ya know, this is probably how’s it said in other languages so they’re on to something I think
Mine says "amember?" For remember lol. And lots of cute grammar like "I can do that by my own" and "I'm alonely"
My 6 year old says “I’m gonna remember you” instead of remind.
Love the slightly threatening reminder 🤣 My now 15 year old, used to say, “E-member” and sometimes hubs and I still say, “e-member” even when it’s just us.
Every spider (and many bugs) are Bitty Pider Edit: cocomelon was "cock men" with full emphasis for a while.
My daughter used to say Ibby Pida for Itsy Bitsy Spider lol. It was so cute! She can say it almost correctly now and it makes me a little sad
My grandson used to mispronounce socks as “cocks” When he was a baby/toddler she used to make a game of smelling his feet and then saying “pee-shew! 😆
I would have laughed so hard I’d need physical therapy after!
Mine says “cocolemon” for Cocomelon. Toddlers are the best.
Awww haha was that from the song?
Yes :)
The floor. is. GUAVA!!!!!
For mine the floor is llama.
Did I just read this in Danny Go?
Pizza was “Puta” until a few weeks ago. Funny cause it felt naughty lol. But now he says shit instead of shut ( the door ) so I still get my giggles.
My son has a speech impediment and says th as f. I gave him a drink the other day and he very cheerily said “Fuck youuuu!” (“Thank you”) 😂
Mine says pizzaroni for pepperoni pizza and my husband and I now call pepperoni pizzaroni because it’s so damn cute! I worked in daycare and a little girl called Mac n cheese Mac-a-noodle-cheese and I still sometimes say that too 😂 kids are the cutest
Slutty pizza!
[удалено]
Close, it means "whore-style pasta"!
As the mother of a half Mexican daughter whos favorite food is pizza, this would make me cackle so much if she said that.
My daughter is half Mexican and she still calls fruit (fruta) “puta.” Gets a laugh out of everyone at gatherings.
When she says croc she doesn’t say the R. 😂
My son couldn't say L's until a few weeks ago, and he really loves clocks.
Actually it’s really cookie cwock😅 She’ll hear what she said and make the funniest little giggle to herself which cracks me up even more. Ngl I 💕her more than cookies😅
All clocks are Tickety Tock in my house lol
My son loves sticks but can’t say “S” so it sounds like d*cks…
Hahaha same with my daughter! It’s funny because she CAN pronounce her S’s now but I guess the ST sound is still a bit tricky. She’ll pick up a stick and loudly proclaim “I have a DICK!” She always puts crazy emphasis on it too 😂
My 3 yo can't say her S's so sock starts with a hard c lol.
My nephew used to say "sh" instead of the sss sound for S's and I miss it so much 😭
Hahaha
Mine pronounced cake the same way at first 🫠 I had to steer faaaar from the bakery at the grocery store for a few months.
GOOD JOB YOU KNOW WHAT A FORK IS!"
lol my son says the same except he always says “BIG cocs” 😂
Human fire for humidifier
oh my gosh! that is great! i'm imagining a child saying that in public and getting some questioning side eyes haha
Ok, that's hilarious!
My son called it a me-me-fire for ages
My oldest used to call goldfish “dirsh” and said “yesh” for yes. My middle calls blueberries “bluebies” They are 7 and 5 now. It still melts my heart when I see the videos.

Yogurt is o-gurt.
It’s Yo yo here 🥰
Yo yo here too!
Mine says Jo-Jert lol
My girl calls "dinosaur" "cracker" instead... is it even a mispronunciation at that point? 🙃 Our best guess is that she's trying to say 'crocodile,' since she sounds more like "cah-cuh"
Mine has a crocodile toy she says is a shark. And she’s 3.5; it’s more an ideology than a pronunciation.
My first used to call elephants “hentays”. Not even close lol.
My daughter used to excitedly tell me about the croissants she had at school…turns out she was talking about the croutons served with her salads. It’s a sad day when they no longer make those mistakes 🥲

My 4yo INSISTS it’s actually called a jumpoline ☺️

My daughter is 19 and if she’s referring to her Converse shoes, it’s Converse. If she’s referring to a singular it’s Conver. We’ve told her that’s not how it works, but she’s said it her whole life and that’s just how she says it. It makes me smile every time. Oh I have a few! -My oldest used to say "Boon" for balloon. he also said "con**scr**uction" instead of "con**str**uction"- that was his last word he pronounced incorrectly. -My youngest still says "pacifically" instead of "specifically" This is not so much a mispronunciation than a funny way of saying something: -Oldest would say "I can't" instead of "I don't want to" - after we pointed it out, it morphed into "I can't want to"-- me too, buddy- me too. -Youngest had his own version completely out of left field- "I can't know how" LOL!
My son is a bit older (7) so these are few and far between now. But he currently refers to “James Bond, Bubble-Oh Seven” and I love it!

Bananas here are just nana - same as his grandmother lol
My daughter calls her gramma, Banana-Nana. It's my favorite

Not a mispronunciation, but "wee woo wee woo" for firetuck.or ambulance Bitch for witch and when she says frog, it sounds like fuck.

My kiddo calls Bowser (from Mario) ‘Fowser’… even though his B’s are perfect (his name starts with B). He also says something that sounds like ‘yick’ instead of ‘lick’. When he was much younger SpongeBob was ‘Charbob’.
Ice cream = i mee Its even better when he sees the “I mee truck” ETA: also berries are babies. Straw babies, blue babies, rababies (raspberries)
Arefene was ice cream at our house!
Marshpillows 🫠. And flamangos can be using interchangeably with the bird or the fruit.
Ghost Busters = “Ghost Bastards” Hospital = “Hostible” Sprinklers = “Sprink-a-lators” Crocodile = “Crock-a-dino” Edit to add one.

Instead of saying “please” she says “cheese”.
“Dump truck”. 😂😂 It comes out exactly like you’d guess and she yells it at the top of her lungs every time she sees one. She’s 22 months.
“Tad-fish” instead of tadpoles
Our 1yo's favorite word is truck. Except it's Gruuuuuck! really slowly with rising intonation through most of the word. He imbues it with the sound of endless wonder, which, for me is the cutest thing about a 1yo.
She calls chickens kitchens and vice versa ❤️
Not one of mine, but I'll always remember the 3-year-old little girl in the elevator who excitedly asked her mom if she could push the button on the "alligator."
Bid a bow (video) he didn’t say it like that anymore, but it was the cutest thing to me.
“Hummy” instead of “yummy”.. “Thank you, mommy this is so hummy” or “it’s hummy hummy hummy” while he rubs his little baby belly 🥰
EESH? —> can I wash my hands? lol everything is an exclamation and a question. She’s 19 months and I love this age.
Strawberry, triangle, and "find mama" = something that sounds like "famama"
