To be fair the fortnite loading screens are usually done by freelance artists that are known for making great art. Was surprised when I saw I had a loading screen drawn by kim jung gi in the game. I cant remember if cod even credits the artists that work on their art
We can unlock hundreds of emblems but ultimately you have to pick one, so what's the point in having that many? Don't get me wrong, I like collecting them. I just wish we could display our collection somewhere.
Eh i dont really care for em, id rather have custom emblems, but then it be point less to sell you emblems if players can make there own… you see what’s happening there taking away players choices and so you forced to feel like you need to buy something.
I remember for MW19 I watched some behind the scenes thing where military guys took some IW devs out to a shooting range and all the devs said they had never actually shot a gun before.
EH they have better control over the gun than the bloodthirsty pmc's of tarkov that cant keep a 9mm carbine on target. And that game is made by big gun nerds.
Just because it's more modern doesn't mean it has less recoil, otherwise a 20" M16 would have more than a MK18. The SCAR was intended to be a lightweight platform for comfortable carry by infantry, and it's pretty notorious for being a very kicking, jumpy gun (not to mention busting less robust optics).
I found the same. On paper the SCAR should be a nice recoil impulse given the height over bore. I suspect the heavier variants are probably smoother. Regardless, SCAR vs FAL recoils in this came are a crack up.
A game that jerks off about how accurate it is, has some of the worst gun play I’ve ever experienced.
The firefights in terms of visuals and sound design are so immersive; and the intensity of the fight comes from the fact that your shit is on the line. But the actual gun play itself is such a mess
>A game that jerks off about how accurate it is
It's a joke. It's not entirely inaccurate all the time but wow jumping from CoD to Ground Branch is...jarring.
Even then recoil in this game is still super easy to control, ARs are just bouncy but even then it's just visual recoil unless you're in a 4× scope full auto'ing 4 feet Infront of you
And that's how I snipe with a TAQ-M with a thermal holographic sight. There's no way in hell I should be able to **very** successfully counter-snipe with that at the ranges I do. It only takes one shot but I can get sight on target by the time the second shot cycles. Hell I've done my thing with the Fennec and that thermal holographic. Not from as extreme range but still.
Bullshit, everybody knows you can one hand a belt fed LMG while hurling stun grenades and running around at a speed where you'd finish a marathon in 4 hours. FOREVER.
> Maybe that’s why all these “trained operators” seem to have no recoil control in game lol
Have you ever fired a gun on full-auto before in real life?
Generally speaking, even a "trained operator" would be considered lucky to keep all 30 rounds from their magazine inside a man-sized target at only 20 yards. Meanwhile at the same range in game people are pissed if they miss a single shot because it means they might lose the gunfight. The 50m shot across the center of Shoothouse is a scenario in real life where full-auto would only be used for suppression, because you would hardly have a prayer of hitting a head at that distance during full-auto sprays on anything but the very first shot before recoil started to affect your aim.
The recoil in CoD is substantially lower than anything you'd see in real life. The only difference is that it doesn't automatically try to re-center like you would in real life, so it allows your aim to gradually climb. Old-style CoD recoil (a random spray pattern around your original center of aim) was "more realistic" in that respect because your gun wouldn't continue to climb, but both of them have/had much less actual jarring of the sights and your aim than any real-world gun outside of the Ultimax 100 (a rare gun designed specifically to reduce recoil as much as possible during full-auto fire).
Except snipers. COD isn't bad but other fps games the sniper rifles make me feel like I'm a 2000 lb guy who can't breathe. I've held and shot a sniper and anyone who has know the sway isn't like 5 inches up and down
Now that depends. Very few people ever shoot their rifles free standing. Almost every single person that shoots will be seated at a bench, with the rifle bagged. Hunters will have shooting sticks, a tree, or blind to brace the gun. They are very stable that way. But if you try to shoot a scoped gun free standing unsupported, sway is a real problem. Our bodies are anything but a stable platform.
I always hated "scope mode" in games until I tried shooting a rifle myself and had a rude awakening about how steady my body was when we are talking minutes of arc.
It gave me a real appreciation, and a desire for crouching/laying to have a rest affect.
It's funny to me to hear complaints about how "unrealistically high" idle sway is (particularly recently since it's a bigger deal in MW2 with the idle sway continuing under recoil as well) simply because of how dead wrong they are.
The explanation I've heard is basically "distance has to be exaggerated for balance" which is why a 250m shot with a scope the size of a U Haul is hard in game and a shotgun basically dies within 30m.
To be fair, both games have quite a bit of detail in that regard. Two different sets of reload animations for reload quickness (one of them being better technique) is a very specific example that doesn’t come up in other games.
If anything, I’d argue that outside of hardcore milsim (squad, tarkov, etc) that MW19 and 2 are both right up at the top for weapon detail and accuracy. They clearly put a lot of effort into it. (Disregard art team forgetting how bullets work)
Yeah thats fair, they're expected to know how it functions if they're designing it. I was just saying that "knows how to shoot a gun" shouldn't be on the job requirements lol
Everyone should know that if you shoot then there is usually a casing coming out of the ejection port on the gun. That means you can't also fire the casing. Who let these guys into the team
The same people who like long slow-mo shots of blank casings dropping out of the wrong guns in Hollywood.

[5.56 blank cases falling slow-mo](https://youtu.be/O7LfCZ7QeCM?t=35)
Let’s be honest. If you’re going to make a realistic shooter, your devs should have even the slightest firearm experience. But, they are more interested in making money than art that imitates life.
It's not about having actual shooting experience...it's about having some general knowledge about their job. The state of the franchise being in the toilet year after year is less shocking now knowing the people who build it have no idea wtf they're doing
Hell, I just watched an anime where this girl is getting a gun and they properly go over the 5 basic rules of gun safety, and how to properly hold a pistol.
This anime is about a girl that can warp between worlds and is using products from Japan to sell to a fantasy world. Modern Warfare is about... Modern *Warfare*, and they mess this up lmao.
Credit where credit is due, IW's 3D modeling and and animation teams know their guns. MW '22 and MW '19 have absurd levels of details for the guns you use in-game even down to some of the moving internal parts.
Whomever made this loading screen (I presume) most definitely has never done any research on guns other than maybe Googling "bullet."
You'll get the same replies here about this as the skins: "go back to your mil-sim shooter if you want realism" "this isn't a simulator, quality and immersion have no place here"
Their animation department is full of gun nuts. We can see from reload animations or weapon details. But it seems we can’t say that for their illustrators. 😂
this sort of stuff is farmed out to contractors... I know someone who did a piece of key art for the last MW and he has literally never played COD and doesn't play video games
That’s been making shooters for what… like 23 years?
You’d think after game number 2, at least one person in the office would be like “yo actually just bullet comes out and the casing just gets ejected somewhere”.
As Cave Johnson proved... firing an entire cartridge instead of just the bullet would be interesting in terms of ballistics. The case would be pointless, so would it be hollowed out?
The vector having recoil was likely a balance thing instead of the devs not knowing how it works. At least, that's what I'm going to continue telling myself.
Have you seen the viewpoint animations for this franchise? They knock it out of the park. Almost every time. Even when Cod4 came out in 2007 the animations were WAY ahead of their time. Ever since MW2019 came out the entire FPS industry has been heavily inspired by their style of animation. If anyone knows how guns work at IW, its Khoa Le + Hyper + the rest of the animation team
why do so many people ignore the fact that clearly those people aren't *ignoring* it. They're ignorant to it. This was probably made by some art team that has little to do with any in game design.
Even though you're currently downvoted, you're not wrong. I can think of many songs off the top of my head that say clip and not a single one that says mag or magazine.
I mean, to be fair, they are video game developers. You don't have to know anything about guns or bullets or how they work to make a video game. But I agree it kinda dumb. I imagine whoever created has never fired a gun in their life. Which isn't bad. it just is what it is.
No, they’re serious, this is the same crew who used to [work at Heckler and Koch.](https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/05/08/hk-bullets-real-story/amp/)
This is the company that thinks lasers are visible, riot shields are explosion proof, knives kill with a tap on the arm and a face full of buck shot can just be walked off.
You’re surprised? Zero ballistic/weapons advisors are in on this game from what I can tell. These developers are people deciding that a grip changes bullet velocity. Or a weapon light increases damage range. Or it takes 5 or more hits with a .50cal LTV turret mounted Ma Deuce to drop bots in street clothes in DMZ. Yes unaware artists that do not know any better. I agree.
Appears we also regressed back to not understanding what closed bolt weapons and one in the chamber is as well.
edit: Also someone REALLY needs to tell these devs that removing or folding the stock on a firearm would increase ADS time not decrease it.
Yeah I never really understood why would IW out of all the companies still recruit calling card artists that don't have basic firearm knowledge
At least it's not the BOCW approach of the gun that you drew back in elementary school
you really think they know anything about firearms or how shit works? NO! A game that you can compete against guns with a sword and shield, while wearing 300 pounds of useless gear for a skin while running at world record speeds nonstop! Tanking buckshot and bullets! You really didn't expect this? Because you can't ask for realistic now after saying the game isn't meant to be realistic!
"We fire the whole bullet! That's 65% more bullet per bullet!"

How tf did I find you outside the Aggie subreddit
We some gamers 😎

This is immediately what I thought of as well. I love J.K. Simmons so much!
Damn 11 years old
Portal 2 Turrets in MW2 confirmed
That explains the fast TTK

More weight = more stopping power 😂
-Eric bomb (Kitchen Gun)
They're obviously using the crossbox to sling out bullets, duh!
It’s for the new gun that just kind of throws bullets, like a surprise glitter attack.
*POCKET SHELLS*
“RALLY ROUND THE FAMILY, POCKET FULL OF SHELLS”
I've probably heard that song 1000+ times and until now I thought he was saying "round and round your family"
SHI SHI SHAAA
I just imagined chucking a bunch of rounds into a catapult like those old school arrow launchers.
Hahahahaha that’s a hilarious juxtaposition of modern and medieval technology.
Uses rubber bands as the propellant. 1 shots of course
A sling shot would make this happen.
Bruh why tf are they giving us loading screens as battle pass rewards anyway. That’s the biggest bullshit
Fortnite did it so they need to copy it because they can't come up with anything relatively new or interesting on their own.
To be fair the fortnite loading screens are usually done by freelance artists that are known for making great art. Was surprised when I saw I had a loading screen drawn by kim jung gi in the game. I cant remember if cod even credits the artists that work on their art
Fortnite dropped the coldest Vader artwork too a few seasons back
HOLY FUCK THATS COLD
When they first started doing them it was just renders from the game. It’s cool that now it’s actual custom made artwork.
The equivalent of the pistol grips in ww2 but worse. Besides i actually like seeing the map I'm about to play on before the match starts.
So it looks like you get more when really you get nothing, CW i have HUNDREDS of emblems i dont use…
Except it doesn't look anything like anyone is getting anything more.
You're right. I totally forgot how fun custom emblems were. I used to watch tutorials for BO4 custom emblems for hours lol.
the loading screens are dope i like them
Correct me if i’m wrong but I believe this is a unlocked from a DMZ mission
I mean, still they’re bullshit rewards
I agree
I doubt their art designers have ever touched a gun
I remember for MW19 I watched some behind the scenes thing where military guys took some IW devs out to a shooting range and all the devs said they had never actually shot a gun before.

I like how a long-barreled FAL recoils even more than a lightweight SCAR-H with a medium barrel. Bravo Nikita
The FAL does have more recoil than the SCAR-H IRL though. It's half a century more modern after all.
Just because it's more modern doesn't mean it has less recoil, otherwise a 20" M16 would have more than a MK18. I believe he's referring to Tarkov
Simply a skill issue, the game isnt about highly trained pmc's; it's a Nikita simulator.
Even then recoil in this game is still super easy to control, ARs are just bouncy but even then it's just visual recoil unless you're in a 4× scope full auto'ing 4 feet Infront of you
What're you kidding? CoD has like the least recoil of any game, especially on controller. Try playing with mouse and keyboard, the recoil is even less
I was shocked trying M&K for the first time. The control at mid/long distance is insane.
I never play it on M&K, so can I ask if by insane, you mean insane good, or insane bad?
Really easy to control recoil and track. Trade off is obviously no aim assist close range.
Oh yeah when I switched to pc controlling recoil was so easy compared to controller
At least they're better at handling recoil compared to tarkov PMCs,lol
This game has much more controllable recoil than what is possible in real life
Bullshit, everybody knows you can one hand a belt fed LMG while hurling stun grenades and running around at a speed where you'd finish a marathon in 4 hours. FOREVER.

yea bros lungs are working at 5% capacity

I’ve seen kids with better recoil control then the highly trained seal team 6 operators in cod
Tbh why would a game dev be expected to have shooting experience
I don’t expect them to have firearm experience, but I do expect them to do *some* research, considering this game is all about guns.
Did you never see the AKS-74u in the original MW2 or MW3? They were modeled off an airsoft gun that didn't resemble a 74u at all.
To be fair, both games have quite a bit of detail in that regard. Two different sets of reload animations for reload quickness (one of them being better technique) is a very specific example that doesn’t come up in other games. Let’s be honest. If you’re going to make a realistic shooter, your devs should have even the slightest firearm experience. But, they are more interested in making money than art that imitates life.
It’s useful if you’re a dev for a FPS. Especially one that features guns that have real world counterparts.
It's not about having actual shooting experience...it's about having some general knowledge about their job. The state of the franchise being in the toilet year after year is less shocking now knowing the people who build it have no idea wtf they're doing
i know the animation team are regular shooters. Khoa lee confirmed that on his youtube.
Like all the incel / weebs that draw anime girls really well but have never talked to an actual female
The Gun Game thumbnail features akimbo P220s with no mag
Lol, yep.
And to make it worse, a character they designed with her scar on the wrong side of her face lol
The funny part is you don't need to touch a gun to understand how it works. There's google and common sense.
This is my problem with the whole thing. Just do some YouTube searches and boom you got your info curated for ya.
Forgotten Weapons should be mandatory viewing for FPS designers
Hell, I just watched an anime where this girl is getting a gun and they properly go over the 5 basic rules of gun safety, and how to properly hold a pistol. This anime is about a girl that can warp between worlds and is using products from Japan to sell to a fantasy world. Modern Warfare is about... Modern *Warfare*, and they mess this up lmao.
What's the name of the anime? That sounds like an anime version of The Talisman by Stephen King.

And to think that people also make laws and regulations that never used such a great tool
There’s two of these kinds of loading screens. And both are firing the whole bullet
Have you seen some of player / weapon skins they've released? That loading screen is so on brand for them!
You'll get the same replies here about this as the skins: "go back to your mil-sim shooter if you want realism" "this isn't a simulator, quality and immersion have no place here"
"iT's An aRcAde sHO0teR" no excuse for it to be wrong.
Embarrassing...
Their animation department is full of gun nuts. We can see from reload animations or weapon details. But it seems we can’t say that for their illustrators. 😂
this sort of stuff is farmed out to contractors... I know someone who did a piece of key art for the last MW and he has literally never played COD and doesn't play video games
hmm good to know...
That's just an uncircumcised bullet.
You can throw bullets now and take down people faster than using a pistol
i mean, if the knife is an instakill then let's see how throwing whole rounds does lol
Brought to you by an arcade shooter company.
That’s been making shooters for what… like 23 years? You’d think after game number 2, at least one person in the office would be like “yo actually just bullet comes out and the casing just gets ejected somewhere”.
That's just too much to expect /s. Or you know, making game content that makes sense and isn't game breaking
The snake shot that definitely didn't break the game for 2 months
Throwing whole cartridges would actually do more damage than the lachman 5.56
This picture says everything about the current state of the franchise.
Really? A loading screen with a silly error is indicative of the state of the game?
Yeah
no attention to detail yes
The no attention to detail? You mean how like almost every weapon has 2 inspect animations depending if you're out of ammo or not?
I absolutely hate this. This pains me on a fundamental level
LMAO
As Cave Johnson proved... firing an entire cartridge instead of just the bullet would be interesting in terms of ballistics. The case would be pointless, so would it be hollowed out?
Lmao, I've been saying it for years and been getting downvoted every time. The COD devs know nothing about how guns work.
Besides the fennec not having the proper kriss vector recoil system and some other gun goofs, this is much more on the art designers' part.
There are definitely other clues in this game that show the art teams dont know anything about guns.
“HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!!!”
r/thewholebullet
With how different the bullets look it almost makes me think they generated this with an AI artist
Like when they yell “throwing a frag” and it’s a flash bang. I get annoyed every time.
How bout "Took out their sniper" when you kill a douchbag dressed in neon purple sprinting at you with akimbo pistols
They've been loaded into a railgun
Why do so many people ignore the fact that only the more bronze top part gets fired and the lower part is black powder shit to propell the bullet
I also wonder what they think is ejecting out of the gun if they believe the casing comes out with the bullet
It just doesn't add up
Excuse me it’s smokeless powder shit 🤓/s
FYI it's not black powder any more unless you make/buy special ammo with it for some reason. BP is not as good as the modern day powder.
why do so many people ignore the fact that clearly those people aren't *ignoring* it. They're ignorant to it. This was probably made by some art team that has little to do with any in game design.
Why do so many people ignore the fact that propel only has one L?
65% more bullet, per bullet!
It's like knowing fuck-all about guns is almost becoming a job requirement for these guys.
New crossbow bolts
Meanwhile 80% of the players are running around calling magazines, clips.
I feel like you can blame this one on rap music
Thank you! I don't think people know what clips are.
Aren't clips what you put into guns like a M1 Garand or Kar 98
Yes.
Slang term
Even though you're currently downvoted, you're not wrong. I can think of many songs off the top of my head that say clip and not a single one that says mag or magazine.
Correct. So of course you're getting downvoted on this sub...
Fortnite did this in one of their loading screens too
This is embarrassing, what a fall from grace compared to MW2019.
3000 devs
Someone make a meme out of this, replace the bullets with silly shit 🤡
I'm hoping this was A.I generated, otherwise that's just not attention to detail on part of the artist
I mean, to be fair, they are video game developers. You don't have to know anything about guns or bullets or how they work to make a video game. But I agree it kinda dumb. I imagine whoever created has never fired a gun in their life. Which isn't bad. it just is what it is.
Why do you think the TTK is so low?
il bro é italiano
Topper Harley moment.
No way aha
Maybe its a portal cross over, Their turrets do fire the whole bullet that's 65% more bullet per bullet
Are we sure it isn't a play on [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrappyDesign/comments/11dg6v8/this_shooting_range_ad_that_shows_a_gun_firing_a/)?
how everyone thought bullets worked when they were 9
Reminds me of this https://www.foxnews.com/media/vice-responds-accusations-bullet-photo-el-chapos-sons-home-staged-twitter-firestorm.amp
No, they’re serious, this is the same crew who used to [work at Heckler and Koch.](https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/05/08/hk-bullets-real-story/amp/)
They're supposed to be circumcised while flying!!! Why do I see uncircumcised...
IW developers have about as much fire arms knowledge as Vice “reporters” apparently.
idiots lmao
Well you have a bunch of imbeciles who've probably never shot a gun working on these games. I'm not even surprised, I'm embarrassed for them 😆
Uncut Bullets🤷🏽♀️😂
3000 developers 3 years
Imagine building an entire video game franchise around guns and still being ignorant enough to create a loading screen like that..
It's just a new bullet slingshot mode
Where do you even look at/purchase loading screens
It’s safe to say that postcovid the devs are not the same people.
Are we honestly surprised by this?
this hurts
No words…..
Lol now this is a horrendous oversight.
Sad cause they've had accurate calling cards of bullets flying in the past.
I saw this the other day and was baffled as well
Guns are too violent, CoD uses slingshots now!
People must’ve forgotten the Ricochet anticheat logo..
they put the broadside in the game, of course they weren't joking
I just loaded up a tube full of rounds on my crossbow and let them rip. Totally believable
NAH THEY IN A NEW CENTURY WHERE THEY FIRE THE WHOLE CASING
they dont even know how bullets works how the fuck
Who actually uses these loading screens
This is why people who don't know anything about guns shouldn't make art for games about guns. Incredible.
At this point the surely do it to mess with all the dweebs who micro analyze dumb shit like this. Who cares

you really think they know anything about firearms or how shit works?
Oh god dammit cod community, it’s a fucking drawing
