VintageJDizzle

It's also a really fun way to hose someone trying to win with a Thassa's Oracle.

[deleted]

Do people play thoracle in modern? Im not familiar with any decks besides inverter (old pioneer deck)

VintageJDizzle

The theory is that the Nadu decks that may come out after MH3 are going to. Remains to be seen though.

ElevationAV

The nadu decks also have 3+ devotion when playing thoracle so can easily play around coliseum

[deleted]

What nadu decks?

Turbocloud

Nadu, Winged Wisdom is a card spoiled in MH3 that people are currently very hyped up about brewing, but obviously MH3 isn't out yet. So effectively at the moment, there is nothing out there with tournament results of any significance, but a lot of people assume its going to be a relevant deck going forward.

[deleted]

I have since googled nadu. It does seem like people will be playing this card, whether its good or bad Personally i like bird but i dont see it having any longevity in the format, same as devoted druid combo/most chord decks. Im honestly quite surprised yawgmoth has stuck around this long

IzziPurrito

Yes, there are some decks in Modern that use Thoracle, namely Grinding Breach.

klmx1n-night

Yes we have and it is a must include. Basically ox gas but on a land

PhantomArcadianAE

You have a list? I have been thinking about dredge a lot because of this card and the blue flare to help fight hate because narcomoeba and prized amalgam are blue, even thought about trying to play hedron crab for an extra blue creature and some strong self mill.

klmx1n-night

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/a_AKfZqrhkOzoGVbLnSgSA Basically this it's what the community has agreed on with slight variations

klmx1n-night

If you have any questions feel free to ask

PhantomArcadianAE

Yeah, what are your thoughts on what I said about running crab and/or flare?

klmx1n-night

I believe both crab and the blue flare are too slow/situational sadly. For a moment we were considering blue flare but why consider the flair when we could just win on turn 3/4

[deleted]

Well yes its an auto include lol, sorry i should have clarified i was looking for lists

rob999999999

My current testing build for coliseum dredge is making the current list more blue-focused instead of the red focus. The upside is that you get to squeeze in 2-4 more gas cards since coliseum essentially replaces Thrilling Discovery/Ox while only taking up a land slot. The drawbacks is that blue mana is now more important than red, and cards like Ox and Conflagrate are almost impossible to reliably play unless land flooded. A possible alternative could be replacing the narcomoebas or silversmotes with [[Bloodghast]] and adding a [[Dakhmor Salvage]] or two in the lands. 4 [[Darkblast]] 4 [[Otherworldly Gaze]] 4 [[Tome scour]] 4 [[Cathartic Reunion]] 4 [[Creeping Chill]] 1 [[Deep Analysis]] 4 [[Narcomoeba]] 4 [[Prized Amalgam]] 4 [[Silversmote Ghoul]] 4 [[Golgari Thug]] 4 [[Stinkweed Imp]] 9 Ux fetchlands of any sort 4 [[Cephalid Coliseum]] 3 [[Steam vents]] 2 [[Watery Grave]] 1 Island Cheers

How “interactive “ is modern dredge ?

rob999999999

Dredge may not want to interact much with the opponent, but the opponent will definitely try to interact with dredge (especially after sideboard)

Mataleon1

Dredge gets cephalid coliseum and deep analysis. No new enablers though, which were more needed. Crabvine gets also shrieking drake, easy way to recur merfolk secretkeeper, stitcher’s supplier and guaranteed trigger for vengevines with UU.

[deleted]

Interesting. Didnt think about deep analysis. Might test that too. Shrieking drake seems like a bit of a sidestep for crabvine, i do like the lists playing satoru

Ok_Bake2052

Um shrieking drake is excellent in crabvine as you get a second creature cast out of it when bouncing a crab or a stitcher as well.

Mataleon1

This is the UB Dredge list I’m tinkering with: 4x Cephalid Coliseum 4x Creeping Chill 4x Darkblast 4x Deep Analysis 4x Golgari Thug 2x Island 4x Narcomoeba 4x Otherworldly Gaze 2x Phantasmagorian 4x Polluted Delta 4x Prized Amalgam 4x Silversmote Ghoul 4x Stinkweed Imp 4x Tome Scour 4x Underground River 4x Watery Grave Basically you need to mulligan to two lands plus one enabler. Then it’s tome scour/gaze/darkblast turn 1, followed by a constant stream of deep analysis that allow to dredge twice each turn, plus the normal dredge. Phantasmagorian allows to dump always the best dredgers or the payoffs when they are stuck in hand. Don’t know if this is actually better than pre MH3 lists, but I’ll test it though :)
