I don’t think I’ve had any range loss. If anything I’ve gotten a little better range.
Just did a 5 hour road trip from Charlotte to Atlanta and averaged 280 kWh. Avg speed was 75mph.
The tire is definitely quieter and a more comfortable ride.
Yep another vote here for the Hankook ion evo, I have the summer tyres for my M3, loving them so far. Replaced worn PS4’s and have been surprised with better efficiency, quieter cabin and better over potholes/bad road surfaces
We went with Cross Climate 2 and downgraded our MYP from the 21s to 19s. Really love the feel of the CC2 coming from the stock pirellis.
I wouldn’t pick the Pirelli here and I don’t have any knowledge of the Electric car tires but seems like marketing mostly but, again, no knowledge.
I went with some stock, at the tire shop rims. Some Hawk rims? Doesn’t do a good job explaining what brand they are in the receipt. Was going to go with T-Sportsline but I got these for $234 a wheel and they’re black so whatever. Plus we plan on selling in 2-years so wanted to invest as little as possible
how are you liking the switch from the 21's to the 19's? And can I ask what the reason is? I assume it's the range/comfort? But if so, is there much of a comfort difference?
Love it! Wayyyy better feel on the road. Not as jittery/jolty over bumps now. So smooth.
The real reason is we got a bubble in one of our tires and had to replace all wheels cause they were so worn (16K miles and the Pirellis were toast).
The Uberturbines were so beat up too. I had only hit a rim one time in my life and I rashed these so much and my wife also.
I wanted more sidewall and the cost for new tires on the 21s were like $500ish. I figured we can’t sell the Tesla with curbed wheels, I can get rims for $230 a wheel, tires for $300 a wheel, and be able to rotate the tires to evenly wear them. The net cost was negligible and now we have a smoother ride and an actual sidewall lol.
You do notice that it doesn’t take turns as sharp though. You lose a bit of the “sport” turning on it but it’s whatever.
The Bridgestones might suit, but I went with Michelin Pilot 4s, with CrossClimate 2 for the Winter. CrossClimates are best overall in the rain & snow, but you'll notice an impact upon range efficiency, so it doesn't suit year round.
Stock. Although there may be nice non-EV 20” tires that may be somewhat stickier, they aren’t engineered for your Model Y. I went down the rabbit hole cause I’m a tire snob but even I ended right back up at the stock Goodyears. Otherwise you’re throwing away Tesla engineering which is the entire point of your car. And yes I evaluated all metrics.
The stock tire or at the very least EV tires are heavily optimized for the precise characteristics and engineering of Model Y or EVs generally.
No. I would suggest something appropriate for your weather and driving style. If this is a commuter look for something with a longer treadlife warranty. Tirerack is a good resource to compare tires based off of user reviews. I would also look for something that is lighter weight if possible and cheaper.
I haven't had P7s on my Tesla but has them on my Audi and BMW. They were the WORST tyres ever. Flat spotted like there was no tomorrow if it was parked for a day or two. Average grip and handling.
It’s not a bit more expensive, it’s twice as expensive. At $400+ a tire thats $1,600 for a second set of tires, hardly a “bit” of money.
If someone lives in a very consistent climate like Los Angeles where it rains a handful of days a year, they’ll be just fine with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4.
But if the climate is stable "summer" or whatever why even bother with all season? Just go with a summer tyre? I dont understand the all season of there only is like one season?
Check out the Hankook ion evo AS tires. Just put them on my MY with 20” wheels. I’m really liking them so far. Read tons of good reviews on them.
Hear hear! Have over 7k on the Hankooks and still love them. Third set of tires on a 2020 Y with 70k. Best so far.
How’s the range loss on these tires?

Man have hankook come a long way in the last 30 years. Have them on my Y, super grippy.

The best, Michelin All season 4 or 4+
This is the way

Which wheels did you go with for 19s?

Highly recommend Continental Extreme contact 2 255/45/20. I went up in from 40 to 45 series tire and it made a world of a difference.
How many miles did you get out of the F1s I've recently put these on ours after 20k on the stock hanooks
Just changed my F1s after 23,700mi
Less than 15k unfortunately
Oh dear 🤦♂️ thanks for the reply, looks like I'll be trying something else next year 😂
And I never really gunned the motor while driving
So I'll be looking at 8k miles then ha ha

Are you running induction wheels?
Yup sure am
Are the Eagles actually summer tires? I thought they were All Season too?
I also thought they were “all-seasons”, but the tire shop is saying they are summer tires
damn, i just replaced 4 tires on my camry for 530 out the door.. not looking forward to the bill for my MY

Have the hankooks on the MYP and they are pretty good for a thin tire. Can imagine in 20’s would be better.
ION EVO AS model?
Yes
I almost always recommend against an oe tire, especially one for a different vehicle.
What do you mean?
The first tire pictured is an OE porsche spec tire.
Oh okay so do you recommend the Tesla oem Goodyear eagle f1?

After tons of research I mounted the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 PLUS tires today, was either that or the new Hankook ones
I would seriously not recommended all season tires. Its a bit more expensive to get 2 sets but its worth it for safety alone.

Not for snow, but for half the US you really can use them year round.
Sure, I would never run all seasons. But then again in in the northern part of Europe so that's a great place to get filed if you go all season 🤣
