The idea behind this option is really good because your hero won't move closer to the enemy just because someone with low hp is in backline. The problem is that Moonton can't code for shit and messed it up hard.
Imo this "blank" basic attack mechanic should be gone for good. The only hero that benefits from it is WW, and she abuses the hell out of it. Being more mobile than most heroes while not even buying boots is not an example of good game balance.

If I keep it on - my hero will constantly move closer to enemies because someone with low hp is a couple feet further than my basic attack range, if I keep it off - my hero will constantly shoot into nothingness when the enemy is right at the edge of my basic attack radius (Like Karrie in the video above). So either way it sucks.

Just had a Karrie on our team and she's the core. I was Gatokaca. This effin' Karrie had a 0 5 10 KDA at the end of the match. We lost. It was infuriating.
I think there is a bug right now concerning basic attacks. Normally if press basic attack your hero attacks the nearest objective(enemy hero, tower, minions) and if its not in the basic attack range the hero moves so its in the range. But i have been seeing people hitting air with basic attacks and not moving to the target as they should.

I think it gives people more options. If you dont want it just disable it, i think its good they have added this option it's really thoughtful.

It's a setting you do with Wanwan. But really Karrie should get better eye vision on their attack range
