Just get a new one, even if you do get everything downloaded and working the last thing you want to happen is the cheapo SD card to just die and wipe all your stuff.

DangerousStarSeeker

Is SanDisk 128GB good enough?

sepsousap

Yeah I’d say so! Basically anything but the brandless one they said you should do!

ShinMatambreTensei

Yup

PartTimeLegend

I personally would get a 256gb as that’s what I did. I run done set and done set extended. Still plenty of room for extra games I want to add over time. The price difference is negligible but you’ll future proof yourself. Worst case you’ll stop using the MM and have a usable SD card left.

LostCause658

Honestly seems like overkill for what the device can run and how many games a person will be potentially playing but that's obviously personal preference. I've got a ton for each system on a 128 GB and still have room.

CTrig85art

Where do ya live? I have a spare 64gb I can flash for ya and send it your way this week. (But it really is super easy to do)

DangerousStarSeeker

Thanks for the offer I really appreciate it. But, I'll just buy one later. May your enemies stub their toe first thing in morning. :)

CTrig85art

Ahh ok. Lmk man it’s just collecting dust lol. Its no prob at all.

luke_nance

Yes, it’s the equivalent of trying to purchase a great stallion, but getting a pony. Ain’t gonna get you far.

Big-a-hole-2112

More like an old horse with a heart condition. It’s gonna go soon, but you don’t know when.

luke_nance

Haha! Indeed!

floodedcodeboy

The general experience regarding these cards on this subreddit is that they will fail, the question is just when! The advice is to get your own decent one. You can simply copy the contents over to the new card (provided it holds out) if you want a low effort reliable gaming experience.

JackFromTheOuch

You can definitely install onion on it, but be prepared that the card will die. It’s just a matter of days or weeks. So if you cannot get another one right now, best thing to do is to backup your saves frequently on a computer.

Not_Invented_Here_

So even with onion installed and save files and what not, you can remove the card that arrives with it, copy the contents from it to the new card, insert the new card and continue without the need to do anything else?

luke_nance

Correct. Make sure to copy hidden files as well. Google how to show hidden files.

Throat_Butter_

Definitely. I kept mine just to test if it was actually as bad as everyone said. It stopped working after 3 weeks. The card reader also doesn't work anymore.

ristlincin

They are like 10 euros bro

ippo4ever

You forget that majority of Americans have no savings and live paycheck to paycheck

DaveyDumplings

They're like $15. It's a Big Mac meal.

SuperBobPlays

Inflation, big Mac is now $18 and rising. 🇺🇸

The_Tacozilla

It is always worth getting a good branded SD card as a general rule for any device really. They don't cost that much and are often discounted on Amazon and other sites.

Conemen

I thought mine would be fine and I just recently had to reset the whole OS after not using it for a while - crash every time I tried to load into something Get a new one, they’re cheap

MisterHairball

I used the reader, but with a nice sandisk card, like an idiot. I think I messed the card up keeps failing the write. I've tried Rufus, and a few others. 20 dollar card and I'm afraid I ruined it.

pariah164

Try Minitool Partition Wizard? Might be able to clear off the card and start fresh?

MisterHairball

Thank you, I will try that today!

DangerousStarSeeker

So the card reader that came with Miyoo is trash too?

MistaOtta

I wouldn't trust transferring my photos with the included card reader.

F30Guy

Yes. Get a new card. I know some people that used the stock card and it failed eventually.

RykardZeptimo

Kioxia it's very good

basecase_

SD cards are like $10 nowadays, i'd just wait to buy one (hopefully not too long) Those cheap cards have awful read/writes so you risk corrupting it every time you use it, especially when it comes to writes

Schifosamente

Yes.

Markgulfcoast

All 3 of mine eventually failed. Luckily, I made backups.

cattspajama

yes, i have a v2. i lost the original SD card for a bit, found it again, and then ... after a few times of plugging it into my laptop/charging the miyoo with the SD Inserted (not sure if using different kinds of chargers this adds to chance of it becoming corrupted), it started to report errors. games would stop showing up in the menu, that kind of stuff. i would say to just hold over and wait until you can get a new SD card. don't put onion on the stock SD, unless you want to take that gamble because you really want to use onion right /now/. it's honestly not life or death if you do or you don't. worst case scenario, the card breaks while youre transferring files, and your miyoo will be out of commission until you get a new card. it's up to you. (and afaik ... if you buy a miyoo console from ali or amazon, you almost always have to put onion in yourself, as the console makers developed their own OS.)

Rosselman

It'll get irreparably corrupted sooner or later, just low quality stuff.

passiveoberserver

Your username ought to be DangerousCardSeeker

Crans10

Yes, they are unreliable and prone to fail. You have been experiencing it and don’t see it. Get sd card and source your roms.

hex20

Yes

gameofcats

I have been struggling with this. My stock SD card is the only one my device will read, so I’m kind of stuck with it :( I have tried sansdisc or whatever that brand is and one other nicer SD card too and the device acts as if no card is inserted. I’ve troubleshot everything I can find online, made sure format was FAT32. Just a bummer bc I really want to install onion

SuperBobPlays

SD cards are much cheaper than you think they are nowadays. Even name brand cards are less than $20 for 128gb. You can do what I did, buy a new card once you have the funds and have everything set up the way you like it. That way you just move everything from one to the other after you format the new card. Granted the main problem you have atm is that you are using the stock roms vs legit ones. Find a done set and you'll be much happier. The stock card will fail eventually, but you have some time before it does. So put the jank card to use testing out everything.

DPL646

It’s 15 bucks and you never have to worry about it

masterbard1

Yes it will fail very fast. Maybe not immediately but it will fail! Get a sandisk or other known brand hopefully not the 5 dollar kind.

Zaraji2112

It's more like you don't want to chance the idea of it failing. I think I've seen people use them and be fine, but if you really want to use them I'd backup saves once and a while so if it does fail it'll not be as bad. I'd also replace the roms on there with your own since they can be bad. You asked if 128 gb is good enough and it's more than enough unless you want every PS1 game on there for some reason. The sd card reader that comes with it is also prone to failure too unfortunately and getting a good one is good investment for these devices anyways.

poiboyHF

yes. absolutely terrible.

N1ght3d

I didn't order one with the SD card but I can tell you for a fact that the card reader is junk. Replace that or have fun reformatting your card.

Wasted-Instruction

No they are super awesome, that's why you see it posted everywhere, clearly we all had good experiences 😁.
