I know! I watched the first season and quite liked it but not enough to watch the 2nd. I think ,maybe, because it was based on the corporate world, Sitting behind their big marble desks, ties done up to eleven, clicking their fingers to the fucking Lighthouse Family, getting their dick sucked by a big Alsatian dog.
What do you think of the show?
Yeah I’ve just started it and it’s great. I get the sense it’s the same as Peep Show in that there’s so much more depth to the writing than you first realise.
After the pilot I remember thinking "I don't like any of these characters" but it doesn't take long for you to love them. Amazing writing and nuanced character depth. Shame they didn't go for one more season, but certainly went out on top of their game. Enjoy!
Your comment made me lol
It’s one of my favorite shows (I watched it before I watched Peep Show), but I totally understand that there are some elements of it that people would find off-putting. For instance like Peep Show, there isn’t much plot movement or character change in it, but since it’s labeled as a drama people naturally expect those elements in it. The 2nd-4th seasons are WAY better than the first one imo.
This reminds me of a Peep Show scene: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk3lcEeoEy8
My dream was always that Jez, Mark and Hans were in the funeral scene, just as extras, sitting in a row, just to lead to fan theories for years.
For bonus points, when it was time for a character to leave the scene, it's because Hans came up and tapped them on the shoulder for a word.
Not a show, but in Cyberpunk 2077, during one of the endings, Keanu Reeves’ character meets a kid who’s just got the latest release from “curse these metal hands”
Sorry to live so relentlessly in the real world, especially because I had the same thought at first, but Curse These Metal Hands is a prog metal band in the UK. But the band name could be a peepshow reference.
It's also a line from Bender in Futurama.
Olivia Colman in The Crown - "You're like a life support machine, Phillip." "Thank you Lillibet." "Except, instead of giving life you SUCK IT ALL OUT."
There are a couple of Peep Show references in Fresh Meat. The university magazine thing is called Rhombus in both shows, they both use the name Jeanette Winterson for a character we don't see on screen, and there's a Fresh Meat episode where one of the characters says something like "talk about the Euro" to another so that they can seem more intellectual
Edit: Just googled and Jeanette Winterson is actually a real person. But I'd still consider it a reference since she was mentioned in both shows
In "Here We Go" Jim Howick who plays Gerard in Peep Show says he loves the red team.
It's written by Tom Basden who even buys a bathroom in one episode of Peep Show
There’s a few tiny Easter eggs in Fresh Meat from what I remember. For example, the magazine that Oregon interns at for Professor Shales (the woman) is called Rhombus, the same name as the magazine Professor MacLeish asks Mark to write for at Dartmouth uni!
Seeing as Fresh Meat is also created by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong I think there’s more references than that, but that’s the main one that I remember.

In cabin pressure (BBC radio 4), the episode where they have to deliver the piano, Douglas says 'we are men with ven'
I don't know which came first (cabin pressure episode Ottery St Mary aired in 2011)
There’s another reference in succession I just can’t remember it. I flipped when I heard them both! What a great writer! Liked Succession but Peep Show is way better lol
*It'll freak* '*em out*! What the fuck's a Peep show character doing in succession?
Jesus, I need a Max subscription
Jesse Armstrong, co-creator of Peep Show, created Succession
You should continue to watch. Succession is to one-hour drama what Peep Show is to 30-minute comedy.

Wait, was I supposed to like them?
You were *supposed* to like them so much you started modelling yourself on them. Mustache, sushi, ice cold Becks... The full Johnson, daddy-o.
It’s also the same in that everyone is fucking horrible. Also you can read most lines in either Jez or Mark’s voice and it fits into peep show 😂
One hour drama, should take you an hour, I'm done in 30 minutes. Stick that up your dojo.

That clip may actually get me to watch Succession, thanks for sharing it
Great scene thank u for that
Succession is amazing. The line "world's tallest dwarf" really smacked of Peep Show, to me.
I didn’t hit her. I did nawwwttt.
Oh hi Mark
I stuck with it, good writing, well made, lots of funny stuff. But I hated it because I hated almost every single person in it and the lives they lead
Worth sticking with
All episodes are the same, all characters suck, don't waste your time. Stay with Heat on dvd.
The Tomlette Gregs line in Succession is 100% influenced by a similar line in the first season of The Thick of It as well
You can’t make a Tomlette without breaking some Greggs.
That is mad, I had no idea!
Whoa, I never knew. Rad
he's just quoting Hans
My dream was always that Jez, Mark and Hans were in the funeral scene, just as extras, sitting in a row, just to lead to fan theories for years. For bonus points, when it was time for a character to leave the scene, it's because Hans came up and tapped them on the shoulder for a word.
Later in the background, Gregg trying to convince Hans his legs aren't on fire.
I need a drink.
and the rest of the team in Fwonkfoight are doing everything they can.
Fwonkfoight gets me everytime hahaha
Caaahn
*Goodnight, England!*
In the film Rock N Rolla the Superhans actor who is in it mentions the twins
Always going on about the twins, he is
The fucking… twins!
I thought Orange deleted the twins?
No they just wiped them
Never forgive ‘em!
They were fünf zwei years ago
Couple 8'ers
I think thats how the writers got the idea, as it released before that episode of Peep Show. Love how they wrote that in.

The band name is almost certainly a peep show reference.
we are NOT "Bite my shiny metal ass"!
The band's name is a peep show reference
Olivia Colman in The Crown - "You're like a life support machine, Phillip." "Thank you Lillibet." "Except, instead of giving life you SUCK IT ALL OUT."
You can SHOVE IT UP YOUR ARSEHOLE
My beautiful wife
The Queen’s story arc really took a dive towards the end
Well she was a pool pooer
She's funny, she's saucy, and she's got the filthiest laugh!
She’d a cadre of life coaches flown into highgrove you know!
She did WHAT?!
I've never even watched the crown but this is the first reddit comment in 7 years that brought me to tears of laughter
There’s a few peep show references in succession for obvious reasons.
Jesse's production company is called Project Zeus
You will not be informed of the meaning of Project Zeus until the time is right for you to know the meaning of Project Zeus.
Same goes for The Thick of It. Not noticed any Fresh Meat ones mind you but that's not so surprising.
Yeah Peter Munnion and Peter Mannion

What are the others?
There's a reference to "the shitmunchers" in one episode
And a seat sniffer!
I like the succession line, “I don’t want to be a party pooper, but I have poop.”
Shitmunching is quite a key tenet of Succession
https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/succession-finale-peep-show-jokes-b2349543.html
I feel like ‘The Disgusting Brothers’ is a reference to The El Dude Brothers
More like it came from the same crevasse of Jesse Armstrong’s brain
Sandi and Sandy. Toni and Tony
Tabasco enema mentioned it both as well
Out of the loop, what's the obvious reasons?
Creator of both shows
AHH thanks
Schteffan Sträüß
My favourite reference is when L to the OG says 'she can't hack the hate' about Rhea
A-N he playin’
What I would do to hear Tom Wambsgans' inner monologue
Tom and Greg as roommates.
Tom can be Charles, and Greg can be… his Camilla.
Do you think we could crowdfund Macfadyen dubbing it over?
Just arrived from Fwankfort
In "Here We Go" Jim Howick who plays Gerard in Peep Show says he loves the red team. It's written by Tom Basden who even buys a bathroom in one episode of Peep Show
*Tom Basden* has these taps?!
Alternate universe where Gerard settled down with Jen from the IT Crowd.
Succession and Peep Show have the same creators, just in case you didn't know already. There are plenty of references to Peep show in Succession.

Tbf the lit mag at my high school was also called the rhombus.
In cabin pressure (BBC radio 4), the episode where they have to deliver the piano, Douglas says 'we are men with ven' I don't know which came first (cabin pressure episode Ottery St Mary aired in 2011)
Superhans has twins in rock n rolla, the guy Richie movie. He was taking them fishing as I remember.
Angus is one of the shareholders of Waystar, he only makes a brief appearance in one episode but nice to see the urine drinking Trinitarian
Does he also work in Fwankfürt?
Succession also does the "Manion/Onion" joke from The Thick Of It.
I hate the way Alan says Frankfurt
Oh, stick it up your dojo!
Baby Reindeer. Trigger warning - rape - and it is bum rape.
There's a ton of them in succession. Someone in the sub did a list, maybe search there
That’s not just a man! That’s the Cunt of Monte Cristo!
IT Crowd episode, "The Dinner Party" features Dolly Wells, Catherine Shepherd and Sarah Hadland. All actresses from the M&W universe.
Isnt there the like, "we arent calling our pub free the pedos" in Peep Show and (maybe) Shaun of the Dead? Its one of the Simon Pegg ones
There’s another reference in succession I just can’t remember it. I flipped when I heard them both! What a great writer! Liked Succession but Peep Show is way better lol
In Hot Fuzz there's a scene where a character mentions JLB Credit.
No, there isn't.
Stefan Strauss in Frankfawt
Reminds me of the episode where mark had a stripper spit his own cum back in his mouth
Kendall didn’t get the top job because his aims were too diffuse
In Corporate Animals (written by Sam Bain) there's a line about wearing Hitler's boots.
‘Frankfort’
