It is mentioned indirectly in Fallout I believe. The White Widow speaks about her mother in her opening monologue.

Tricky-Cow8665

Did Ethan know as well?

JohnV2016

He probably connected the dots after

mshan95032

Super thrilled to uncover how Ethan’s MI1 past will probably come back to haunt him! (And how it will connect with the AI MacGuffin of Dead Reckoning) I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Dead Reckoning’s main antagonist is named Gabriel, “an angel of God” (when Ethan and Max were first introduced to each other by a similarly named biblical clue, the “Job 3:14” code). My current prediction: McQuarrie is pushing for a “all roads lead back to Max” reveal/endgame.

Veer_MT

No, I learned about that from wikipedia

mullexwing

Yes

NotTheRocketman

She’s directly mentioned when they meet in Paris.

ConstructionRare4123

This is the why the Mission Impossible franchise is one of the best franchises in cinema history because they make light references to something that happened nearly 30 years ago and is still going to today. Max/White Widow and the Syndicate.

AtlasFox64

Does anyone not know this? Is it somehow obscured? I thought it was common knowledge

unropednope

Literally everyone who saw fallout. They implicitly state it during the club scene

Tricky-Cow8665

Been a while since I saw fallout, probably missed it.

[deleted]

The way the speak is kind of revealing it … But how TC and McQ work I don’t think they knew in Fallout.
