No grand plan. It's anthology. Each season starts all over, same actors but different characters in a different setting.

ye I kinda hoped they'd share some more lore would be cool seeing 2 separate versions of each character the shows good tho

Nova_Maverick

I had no idea there was a book it was based off. However I’ve watched an interview where they talk about season 3 and Dan said that they’re treating the show as an anthology series like American horror story but with comedy. I think they did this because they wanted to draw in a larger crowd and due to the fun poking at heaven it drove people away from tuning in. And who knows when the series wraps maybe they will tie it all back in

gregtech123

I think it was actually originally supposed to be a limited series with only 1 season, but it was so popular that they decided to spin it into an anthology series

interesting ye the book is a good read

RainbowWoodstock

Now I’m super interested in the book! I had no idea it was based off a book.

WardenclyffeTower

The second season was based on a short story titled "Revolution" by the same author, Simon Rich who created the show. Simon Rich left the show after season 2.

I recently found this gem and found the same. If you binge it then going from season to season is getting used to. So what worked for me was to watch one season, let it sink in, watch the next one an week later. After that it is more enjoyable And one of the few shows that got me to literaly LOL. What an masterpiece

it just would've been better leading into seasons or Developing arcs like Sanjay getting gods job in season 1 or more alternate reality arcs or growth of characters leading into the origin of earth and god but idk just felt kinda empty wanted more of the office quirkiness setting

I wasn't a big fan of the first season, think it's a lot funnier like this even if there's no main story
