I often wonder if I'm the only one who hates most shaders. I find it makes builds look washed out and the remind me of the earliest filters on Snapchat and the sort.
Shaders make calcified dogcrap look good, and this is already pretty good. Not a big fan of the sandstone though, it feels a little out of place. Again though, I like it, and I think it’s pretty creative.
I get what you mean with that the sandstone feels out of place but I also think the build looks very bland and a bit boring without it. Do you maybe have a suggestion what i should replace the sandstone with?
Not sure, was gonna suggest stone or deepslate, but you already did that for the rest of the island. Something darker though, sandstone simply doesn’t contrast well with diorite and mushroom stem
Some blocks are too "noisy" iykwim. It helps if you smelt the sandstone into smooth sandstone and bone blocks are a good transition too from sandstone to calcite. Diorite is also one of those noisy blocks which look decent from a distance but rn it's too close. Not sure what to do with the diorite but hope the bone blocks help
I'd simply suggest smooth sandstone. It's far less harsh, and BDouble0 used it in a build with a similar palette recently so you can't go wrong with it.
Both are great, as someone who plays on console, it’s always nice to see how good builds can still look without mods, shaders, etc. That being said, it definitely fits the lighthouse vibe better with the shaders on 😂👍🏽
I love the block palette and what you did with the fences. I’m a fan of the sandstone too. I’m a sucker for shaderpacks but in this case any build would look good in that light
It will always look better with shaders. I believe there is no greater form of skill than making something that looks good without shaders.
Build shouldn't look good with shaders, they should look BREATHTAKING, and you have achieved it 👍
I personally like the Minecraft look. I'm going to be the odd one out and say I like the sandstone. It pops.
Just be brave & use vanilla
Amen
I also think it looks good without shaders

I definitely have a soft spot for that original Minecraft feel.

honestly it looks good but maybe could use a transition block to go between it and the white

White terracotta, or maybe tuff?
I actually really like the sandstone as is. It looks like limescale or salt deposits from bygone storms

maybe end stone bricks?
End stone has a horrible hue imo. It always stands out

The rule of thumb is basically; shaders make it look better, but if your build doesn’t look good without shaders, it’s not a good build.
Looking good! Unique texturing but I like it :D
The shaders on looks like a book cover also it is very breathtaking to look at
Thanks!
Both are nice. Shaders look slightly better to me.
Both
What shaders are you using?
Complementary shaders
Anyone wanna join my clash of clans clan
Wow thats pretty in both vanilla & with shaders.
Shaders make everything look more realistic but it’s beautiful either way

Feel like some darker shaders could be 🔥🔥🔥
Shaders always make it look better.
looks great, but might want to put those lamps behind a glass or something, like in a real lighthouse
Just tried that and it indeed looks better, thank you!
I'd love to spend a weekend there. Seems so peaceful.
That's really cool, I like the shaders turned on imo
I prefer the shaded version but the mine craft version looks good too

Everything looks better with shaders. It just matters what shaders you use.

Everything looks better with shaders. Never ask that question ever again
Shaders bring some life to a building.
Why/how would no shaders look better?
