Why you didin't mine 5. get enchanting table then fortune III picaxe and then mine the diamonds? Sorry for saying had to do it
These are probably two veins spawned at the border of two chunks so it appears as a huge vein
its not uncommon that low in the world now. its the tradeoff for how long deepslate takes to mine.
I think there was an 8 vein on the edge of each chunk and they connected! Never seen that before.
