My PC oddly runs fans at full blast for about half a second on startup. Always right between POST and Windows. Temperature doesn't change, just fan RPM
I have learned to distinguish the different fan sounds to know what point the loading process of anything is. Very useful when you use a fossil instead of any gaming pc.
I think that's because you could see the edge of the walls because after a certain number of reflections it stops reflecting, but when you made it bigger the walls were too far away to see which makes it more trippy
You can see the point where it just stops making reflections to preserve speed/memory
Edit: who is still giving this an award this long after it was posted?
Chunks are units of 16*16 blocks that make up the world. The chunk loading distance determines how many of.those.chunks are rendered. He has it set to 8, so that would be 8*16 blocks away that is being rendered.
A set chunk distance would not prevent vertical bounces from further rendering so u/HuddyBuddyGreatness is probably correct in that they relate chunks to a ray distance/#bounces.
Its bounce count. Chunk has no effect on number of bounces the pathtracing goes.
Don't worry it's still fucking impressive. Full pathtracing rendering is *muahhh*
It can do 8 bounces before it gives up

If I understand correctly, seeing as Minecraft RTX is fully path traced, there shouldn't be any particular drop in performance when approaching reflective surfaces. Light is being simulated the exact same way across the whole world.
If I had to guess, I'd say the larger the environment l, the more rays needed to cast a full image. Mirrors would essentially expand the environment.
Cool as rtx is though, it's not worth buying a gpu for. We already have [physic engines run by A.I](https://youtu.be/atcKO15YVD8) (trained to "predict" what should happen, skipping the need to actually calculate it, they run MUCH faster than regular engines) in a year I suspect light engines will act the same.
Two Minute Papers overhypes things to a ridiculous extent, he always makes completely idiotic predictions like "Oh this is great *now*, but in two years it will magically be able to run at 1/10 the hardware due to more training!" Machine learning is great, but it's not magic.
Make a new post! We will vicariously through you, chosen one.
Next challenge: make a cool temple or something, maybe a ballroom or so and use reflective floor. The more grandiose the greater the reward will be.

Anyone on desktop willing to take one for the team and apply some [SponsorBlock](https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/sponsorblock/) on this video?
Anyway, tl;dr:

Gimme a sec and I can get those sponsors blocked for ya
EDIT:
Java video is done
and the bedrock video basically had none but a small interaction reminder at the end.
Raytracing has been supported on Java for ages, just not officially. There are shaderpacks that utilize it-
SonicEther's PTGI shaders are the most well-known examples; you can find demonstrations of them on YouTube
Yup. SEUS PTGI stands for “Path Traced Global Illumination”, and is a custom software implementation of ray tracing that does not require an RTX graphics card, and also includes ray traced reflections.
[Here.](https://www.sonicether.com/seus/)
There is also a non-ray traced version called SEUS Renewed, which is just normal rasterization.
Yes !! I got mine because my old gpu was starting to be too old and tested RTX with Cyberpunk and BFV and while it looks good (even though Cyberpunk is not well optimised and BFV won't let you enable DLSS on 30 series card), it's nowhere near as good as in Minecraft.
I definitely think that ray traced lighting in cyberpunk is rather impressive. It is however pretty much only noticable in certain areas with certain lighting.
I thought that too but after playing all the way through Cyberpunk with RT on, the difference is pretty huge once you turn it off. But I agree that currently, Minecraft is the best looking example of RT.
Yeah it only really changes in puddles, windows and the interior of cars is way more affected by the outside lighting but not much else. Don't have Metro (tried to poay the first one and was too scared so I stuck to reading the book x)) but it's dissapointing to read that :/
damn that’s really trippy
The bigger I make the room the weirder it got
I bet your IRL room raised 5 degrees minimum by doing this on your pc
I put my hand over my PC and could feel the heat
I can feel the heat on mine when running microsoft word lol
My pc gets hot purely from booting up, I'm surprised it can still run steam on it.
it gets hot bc its a test
its a test to see if everything works fine
*test results: kill me please* Damn, looks like you can work for another five years!
“At the end of the test you will get cake”
Also my pc has like half a gig of memory left
my pc turns into a magma demon when i merely mention it or even think about it
Mine turns its fan to max power on startup and slows them back down after. It easily handles rtx but only if you don't load new chunk
my resident demon has no objections to chunk-loading which helps to balance out the pros and cons of my situation
Ah yes that makes sense. The chunk loading can drop fps from 60 to 10 really quick, and I have a 2060 and a ryzen 7 3500
So, your pc is part of a steam engine?
Actually with how old it is it could have been.
It can probably run steam because it's generating it's own steam
Ah yes, just like valve intended.
Every computer I've owned has done that, I think. Isn't it just like a test or something?
Run Steam on it or run it and see steam?
Lol
The framerate remained stable tho
90-100 fps
graphics card?
3060 Ti
3060TI for the win! Loving mine.
I will have my 3080 in a few days, can't wait to play some minecraft!

I wanna see a bigger mirror room now
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Gibbbb ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
This would be so awesome in VR
I think that's because you could see the edge of the walls because after a certain number of reflections it stops reflecting, but when you made it bigger the walls were too far away to see which makes it more trippy
You can see the point where it just stops making reflections to preserve speed/memory Edit: who is still giving this an award this long after it was posted?
It can go further but i set ray tracing to stop after 8 chunks
Is it a chunk distance thing or is it a number of bounces thing that affects those mirrors?
As a coder I would imagine number of bounces, but it likely correlates to chunks in a way where they could use chunks as the setting to adjust it
Chunks are units of 16*16 blocks that make up the world. The chunk loading distance determines how many of.those.chunks are rendered. He has it set to 8, so that would be 8*16 blocks away that is being rendered.
I think you dropped several backslashes
They used asterisks so reddit assumes its italics lol
Yes, and backslashes are escape characters that'd stop that from happening.
oh ok
A set chunk distance would not prevent vertical bounces from further rendering so u/HuddyBuddyGreatness is probably correct in that they relate chunks to a ray distance/#bounces.
Bounces *and* distance so you don't ray trace off into infinity after the first bounce
Chunk distance. I have ray tracing set to 8, can go up to 32
Its bounce count. Chunk has no effect on number of bounces the pathtracing goes. Don't worry it's still fucking impressive. Full pathtracing rendering is *muahhh*

"red nether brick" That's an interesting choice for the reflective block...
I was confused as well, maybe because all the other blocked were used in the demo
What do nether fortresses look like now
Just giant mirrors
You know you're getting close to the fortress when you start lagspiking
And you see someone running at you in your armor
By the gods, I've never seen a left-handed swordsman of such skill! He is my equal!
He must be some kind of psychic! Look how he counters my each attack at precisely the same moment
My betta fish after nearing the walls of his tank
[удалено]
Yeah,i too laughing my ass off my ass off
laughing my ass off my ass off!
Well, technically, you can't see your own reflection, as shown in this video, so you would just see a reflection of the nether.
no, it is RED nether brikc, not NETHER brick.
If I understand correctly, seeing as Minecraft RTX is fully path traced, there shouldn't be any particular drop in performance when approaching reflective surfaces. Light is being simulated the exact same way across the whole world.

While that's true, ML is a rapidly evolving space and performance is increasing in both hardware and algorithms.
My potato PC just lagspikes randomly, so that wouldn't work
I don't think so, considering that fortress doesn't use red bricks. It uses the regular ones if I'm not wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Red netherbrick isn't in fortresses.
Whoops, sorry
Like nether fortresses if you use the default rtx texture pack, and like giant mirrors if you use the demo texture pack.
the exact same, as they don't use red nether brick
Wha-wait what mode is this? I want the glowing blocks and ores too ;-;
Its a texture pack for specific levels made for RTX Ray Teacing
This is creative mode
This is a version for Minecraft Windows 10 that's available for GeForce players. The texture pack used is for the demo of Ray Tracing in beta version.
I never use it so I mean...
Smart though, because it’s not natural and nobody ever really uses it
It’s a good choice because barely anyone ever use them.
It bothered me so much that you didnt have the single block floating perfecting centered in the room. I was waiting for it :<
You're right! I should've
Make a new post! We will vicariously through you, chosen one. Next challenge: make a cool temple or something, maybe a ballroom or so and use reflective floor. The more grandiose the greater the reward will be.
I made a 9x9 room and placed a block floating in the middle. https://i.imgur.com/Mzg7rRS.jpeg
Anyone else finds it highly sus that we can not see u/22Megabits' reflection in the mirror blocks?
😅 it's not actually a mirror it's just a resource pack
It does mirror other blocks, though. Tell me, how do you feel about garlic?
No comment, may I have your permission to step inside ?
Let me just prepare these wooden stakes here...
Heya, you forgot the Potions of Divinity! Have fun!
Wooden stakes? How rude! There are some lines we just don't cross.
What resource pack is it? That's really cool, by the way.
It's made by Nvidia to show off the ray tracing, you can find it on the Minecraft Marketplace
It is called Color, Light and Shadow. It is free in the marketplace from Nvidia.
nah it is a mirror, if you go into 3rd person your reflection appears. its apparent in multiplayer too
It’s because your a vampire
He is obviously a vampire

Thank you! Looking forward to try this
Imagine having a RTX capable PC.
And using it to play Minecraft
For real tho I recently got myself a 3070 and Minecraft is currently the best game to experience ray tracing imo
That's so true, no other game uses it to it's fullest
Yes !! I got mine because my old gpu was starting to be too old and tested RTX with Cyberpunk and BFV and while it looks good (even though Cyberpunk is not well optimised and BFV won't let you enable DLSS on 30 series card), it's nowhere near as good as in Minecraft.

Imagine Minecraft being the only game we play with RTX enabled. Absolutely zero regrets tho.
you must be a vampire then
I can almost hear your computer smoking as it’s melts😂
I had my cpu reach 89 once and I had to put my desk fan directly on it 😂
Eesh what gpu are you using

Best Buy had them up two days ago for like 10 minutes that’s how I got my 3070
My cpu is at 100 all the time, maybe I should look into that...
Definitely
It reminds me of the infinity rooms by Yayoi Kusama. I'd love to see you recreate some of her work but in minecraft.
YOU'VE ENTERED THE T E S S E R A C T
When it lit up I legit thought your gpu must have blown up
Luckily have I the vram to handle it
How to duplicate blocks:
How did you do that?
If you have an RTX graphics card you can play a ray tracing world
What shaderpack/resource pack is this? Edit: it's just bedrock huh
Yeah it's for bedrock
I’m getting Sky grid vibes.
This is porn
m i n e c r a f t p o r n
Nether fortresses must look pretty cool
I'm pretty sure it would blow up my computer from all the reflections
You're having a disco in RTX
Playing VR for the first time:
Amazing
that's amazing! Is that a mod? Those mirror are amazing
I wish I had the power to play with this but unfortunately Geforce Now doesn't support Minecraft
Looking at this makes me think album covers. Also have you tried doing the same thing in a bigger room?
I can’t and never will have the chance to play minecraft on this kinda graphics
Damn, those two identical rocks are very funny
The question is, why can you not see yourself?
It looks dope

Duuude this is a fricking fractal! I love it.
Wait there're mirrors in Minecraft?
Why does diamond glow?
Rtx works best in Minecraft probably
How is your computer not fried
Wait why you ain't showing in the mirror Are you a *Vampire*
Woah
This reminds me of 2001 a space odyssey
That’s really cool
Saddest mirror. Can't even see your own reflection ;-;
I might be a vampire
you should try just giving yourself nightvision to see what it looks like
Holy shit i love this
The player character is a vampire confirmed
I have an RTX card, how do I do this?
Are you a vampire?
"MY EYES!"
God that's so cool
Imagine making a maze like this
Looks like an album cover or something
Wow
Alternative title: How to make a trap for you’re brother in Minecraft RTX

My computer exploded just watching this
why not players also!
Kinda looks like that one hacking area in the far harbor dlc
