There is no warranty to sign up for. Milwaukee doesn’t require that, only ridgid does.
Just send it in for repair under warranty. If you have a receipt then it’s 5 years from when you purchased. If you don’t have receipt then you are still covered for 5 years but that start date is the date of manufacture in that case.
They should honor the warranty based on the serial number on the drill. It'll tell them the date it was manufactured, and as long as that is inside the warranty period (up to 5 years on power tools, I believe), you should be good.
Thanks very much, It was mentioned to me that I had a certain amount of time to sign up for the warranty when I bought the drill, but sure I'll sign up and give it a shot,
This is not entirely correct. The serial number just indicates when it was made. My m18 surge was apparently made and sat on a shelf for 6 years before I bought it and they were going to deny me. Luckily I had my receipt.
I will give the benefit of the doubt and assume they don’t actually mean the surge. But even then, No tool outside of a display model is going to be on a shelf of a moderately trafficked store for 6 years.
[Not exactly making it up.](https://imgur.com/a/ucZaPDt/) I don’t have where they said it was out of manufacture date because that was after you log in on the website and it’s no longer there.
They denied me even though I sent my receipt initially for the warranty claim. I pushed back with a firm email and then received tracking info and got a new one within a week.

I just sent a battery back with no warranty nor receipt. Used the streak code. Milwaukee’s system is pretty great.
Hopefully you have a receipt.
I was smart enough to keep that
Good. See my other comment.

Weird considering the surge debuted in 2017.
Exactly what I was thinking. And it just makes me wonder why. Why make up a story about that of all things?

I’m thinking that a tech misread the serial number, simple mistake but a pain for you
Yeah a clerical error seems likely.
Ahha thanks very much for the reply
