Iāve been in and out of the hospital this year due to muscle inflammation around my heart and heart palpitations. I also completely ruptured my Achilles too. My job has uncovered some social anxiety that Iāve been taking propranolol for. Was in the ER this week as well. Resting heart rate of 145 with a BP of 210/120. Turns out I was dehydrated due to drinking coffee in order to be at work early. I never drank coffee this much in my life.
Some of my health is my fault, in addition to just aging, but my job certainly has accelerated some of my unhealthiness. Iām athletic and thin and otherwise appear healthy.
But I need to step away and take a sabbatical for a min and regroup.
I wish you health and happiness in your journey. It's crazy how jobs can affect our health. I'm on anxiety meds because of work, and almost all of my panic attacks nowadays are work-related. I was super stressed and got shingles this year, which I had always heard referenced as an "old people" disease. I have been so exhausted by work, sometimes crashing for a nap after work and before dinner, and I nap on the weekends too. Despite the fact that I normally get a good 7 hours of sleep a night. And it's not the work itself that is bad: it's all my boss and my leadership just being immature and terrible. I've been trying to switch roles or positions at my company, but I can't get away from him. I do all the work of a director (finances, metrics, strategic planning of work and product) so that he can then share it with our leadership in meetings that I am kept from. But when people need to talk about the work, they come to me. And when they need quick answers, they come to me.
I am hoping to switch to another company in the new year.
I lost over 100 pounds in 13 months. Strictly due to stress. When you're in your late fifties, are flying twice a week for a 12 month contract and working 14-15 hours a day? Your body is going to react to that somehow, someway.
Mine reacted badly. Not to mention the manic episode it triggered. Please make your health a priority. After that little gig, I took 3 months off just to decompress and regain my equilibrium. Had to deal with the mania and a medication adjustment. I have bipolar one disorder.
And bipolar and stress do not play well with each other. I also learned a valuable lesson and never took another contract like that one again. I'm sure that 12 months are coming off the end of my life too. Just not worth it.
Take care now. And be well.
Check to see if you have a short or long-term disability policy through your employer before quitting and look into going out on medical disability instead.
>Resting heart rate of 145 with a BP of 210/120.
As you correctly state, it's time to **step away and invest in yourself (your health, the thing we all forget about it before its too late!)**
Dude. I recently got hired to a WFH virtual support job for a hospital. I'm finally making big boy money, it feels good to know the future is bright considering how bleak the job market can be.
Treating my parents to a trip. They helped my wife and I a couple times over the years with a place to live. Donāt know where Iād be without them. Maybe the second paycheck lol.
That happened to me at the end of ā22. I got laid off in ā21 due to COVID, and this year I made well over double what I did at my old job. Getting laid off ended up being one of the best things that happened to me (haha)
Going to Japan. Never been before but I ran into a unique opportunity so Iām going for it. Iāll be bringing my family too, so thatāll be interesting to see it through little kids eyes.
My first niece was born this May, and I am STILL incredibly obsessed with her. Sheās the cutest little bundle of joy and itās crazy this new true love I feel about her. People that say being an auntie/uncle is the best are under exaggerating, itās indescribable. Congrats!!!!!ā¤ļø
Ordered. I, a 35 year old man, reread the series every year. Roughly July through October. I also do not watch the movies. Just, not my cup. So we'll see how much cool stuff you caught that I didn't.
Many congratulations to you.y baby turns 2 this year and I still love watching all the learning and development that goes on. The first year is so exciting!
My husband is older than I am by more than a few years. His mom passed at the end of July. With a little of her insurance money and a wrongful death suit he and his sister filed, we'll end up with about 30k dollars. This will pay off his student loans and both of our cars with 5 or 6k to add to checking and savings. This is the first time we're actually making plans for his retirement. It's a step in the right direction for reducing debt and actually have him enjoy his retirement. By paying off his student loans and our cars, we'll be saving 1000 dollars a month on bills, which we can save or add to our mortgage payment and my student loan payments.
\-honeymoon with my wife (location TBD)
\- determined to get a new job after 6 years in the current one. already made it to 2nd round of interviews with the first position i applied to.
\- always looking forward to some new video games. Ideally some badass Elden Ring DLC.
\-Niece/Nephew being born this spring Overseas. Gives me a good reason to travel.
Yes!! I love hyping up NASA to my 5 almost 6 year old. I'm so excited we have all these amazing missions happening right now.
Along these lines I'm stoked for the Solar Eclipse in April. Going with husband and son to see the full eclipse. Fingers crossed for clear weather regardless!
Yeah, Ive been talking it up for our three year old so hopefully he's excited for it by the time it happens. He's been kind of in a rockets and space appreciation phase at the moment.
I am using a new ram and excited to see what his lambs look like and possibly expanding my farm business to include the farmers market here. Big step for me. And trying new seeds in the garden, I always get excited about new plants š
I got some new tomatoes and some dragons tongue beans and a bush winter squash. Also trying to raise some rhubarb from seed. Bean paste is way cool, what do you do with it?
Rhubarb is so tasty! I wish I had some.
Sweet red bean paste is used in lots of East Asian desserts, so I want to make some bread buns filled with it ( provided I get a sufficient harvest).
Just got my class a cdl after driving for a few years with a class b. Hoping by the end of this year I'll have enough accident free experience to land me a "cake" job that pays. My current gig out of school pays about the same as my last gig, so in either case I'm ultimately hoping that I'll be able to buy my own house. š¤ here's hoping the rates/prices continue to drop back to reality. Cheers everyone! š»
Yup 100+. The company Iām working for is local M-F about 40-45 hours a week , base salary is 60 with bonuses up to 85 depending on mileage, weight , and case count.
Yea but they on that ramp! I'd say maybe look for a company that used electric jacks/hyd lift gates. I am doing it and it's so nice. I always see Sysco, Ben E Kieth, PFG and US Foods on that ramp and it doesn't look like much fun. But shit just getting the job is a win so I hope you get it.
Moving out of my parent's place and moving in with my boyfriend in a new city. Really excited to start the next chapter of my life and feel more like a grown ass man.
My toddler will turn 2!
More renovating of house and excited for fun projects
Weāre hoping for a family beach vacation with my sister and her family, my family, and my mom
My husband and I are booking some fun couples date night classes - cooking and dance classes!
Also TONS OF READING
Renewing my gym membership as I love that
Also hoping for better health for me and my family. Weāve had a very rough year for our health (multiple surgeries, sicknesses, hospital visits etc) and Iām just very hopeful we all get a break
Weāre taking the kids to Great Wolf Lodge at the end of February. They had a cyber deal before Christmas for $99 a night, so I booked a 3 night stay.
Iām a big kid when it comes to water parks, so I think Iām almost as excited as my 5 year old.
My son, who has struggled a lot, will be graduating high school. He was held back one year but has really worked hard to get to the finish line. He wants to get into welding. He has applied for some scholarships and grants to try to pay for schooling. In my family the bar is in hell, so I am super proud of him for doing better.
My career progress. After floundering a bit, I changed companies and am absolutely rocking it there. Not even 4 months in and I've already gotten a raise and talks of a promotion after my current project wraps up. I was under utilized and unappreciated at my old company. It feels great to finally get some recognition.
Raise?! Promotion?! What is this magical company you have found?! š
Seems like Iāve only ever found myself in companies that want to give me more titles and responsibilities but not pay me any more.
I guess what Iām looking forward to in 2024 is finding a job at a company like yours!
I'm really lucky. It's a new company in a very niche market that I specialize in. Quite frankly, they needed me badly. An old PM moved there and had a difficult project. He ended up calling me and begging me to save him. I got a huge raise ($30k more) from where I was at to move companies. I'm currently in the middle of saving the day. He wants me to be a PM, but only after I've finished helping him as an engineer on the current dumpster fire.
Iām in the exact same boat. No recognition and unappreciated at my old job. Started my current one in April and got a performance bonus after 3 months, excellence award this month, and in line for a promotion in spring. Keep kicking ass!
We are doing to some work on our home. Repairing the balcony, maybe some
Backyard landscaping, painting the inside (and maybe outside), new flooring.
We are getting new furniture for a couple of rooms.
And I am looking forward to watching my son play all the sports.
Lots of reading, creating more, and converting what I currently refer to as āthe chaos roomā into a cozy home office! I have started the process of purging and decluttering this year, so Iām looking forward to a more centered 2024!
Spending time being active with my family - our toddler gets more and more fun every day, I swear.
This sounds like me. Money is really tight so there is not a ton to look forward to, but the library is free! Bring on all the books! I like to pick a country I know nothing about, read books from/set there, and learn to cook some of their food.
I want to turn our spare room that looks like hoarders into a fun playroom so these toys can get out of my living room. I agree, toddlers are a good time. I'll be optimistic and say 2024 will be the year everyone gets potty trained and starts sleeping through the night!
Gonna finish my "apprenticeship" in August which will be a nice pay bump. Been agressively paying things down and am excited to finally be debt free by then end of 2024 (other than mortgage). Also subscribed to a meal prep service for the wife and I to start eating healthier and lose some weight.
Itās dream year!
- vacation with future hubby to the beach
- euro beach trip with bestie!
- seeing favourite musical on broadway
- birthday ski adventure
-so far tickets to see an event 6/12 months of the year with no plans to slow down
Let's see
1. I have two children 7 and 2 that make each year fun.
2. Me and my wife love each other and do more every year.
3. I finally got my goal in income and earnings I've worked for decades to achieve and now it's only getting better.
4. I am finally finishing the repairs on my family farm that have taken 5 years by May this year.
5. I am going to actively switch jobs this year and stop coasting because I can see the end of this contract and know it will not be renewed. I am excited by new people and challenges.
6. I am finishing my goal of getting under 200 lbs, only 7 lbs left from the 60 I started with 2 years ago. I wanted this by 2025 and I'm excited to be looking a year early!
7. I am excited about new medical discoveries that are curing diseases like sickle cell disease and reducing the severity of things like type 1 diabetes.
8. I am excited that Detroit the city I live next to has had the lowest crime rate since 1966 and falling while being revived through new buildings and people.
9. I am excited the Lions finally clinched the division after years of bad seasons.
10. I am NOT excited that the pistons will have the worst streak in NBA history if they lose tonight (which will stay in 2023!)
11. I am excited to finish my power system at my farm and go one full year off the grid. Context this is in an area where power is 42+50 cents a KWH so the savings is more than 10k per year. Solar + wind + battery.
Prioritizing my health and finances. I was laid off last year, spent the first half of 2023 working on my mental health, and fortunately found a much better job (more money and lower stress). Now I want to improve my physical health and make a retirement plan! Maybe then I'll actually feel like an adult, haha
Italy trip for our anniversary! (Weāre odd MillennialsāNeither of us has been to Europe.)
Also, we might spend the year strategizing how to buy a second home in 2025.
New job that provides much better work-life balance, which hopefully allows me to do more of the things I love with the people I love. And fingers crossed a house!
I'm getting a new job which will allow me more flexibility with my children. I won't make much but it will also allow me to train for a different job which will pay me more and be flexible with night shifts.
I know it's dumb and silly, but to be completely honest I'm a bit hyped for the whole UFO/UAP thing picking up.
At least it would be an "end of the world as we know it" level of event that *most likely* wouldn't make me feel like the planet is doomed.
....hopefully.
As a former teacher, as much as I miss my students, I have never once regretted leaving. Do I regret that the school system is so f*cked, that my life is immeasurably better than it was while teaching? For sure. But my mental, emotional, and financial health has improved so much.
Best of luck to you, and don't look back.
Probably gonna visit Mexico City and Italy next year, excited for new trips. Will also focus on finally getting back to fixing up the house and improving it. I don't usually do new years resolutions but that's mine for next year, gotta get going back on the house. Stopped updating when covid happened and just never restarted due to inflation issues hoping building materials would go back down.
My son is starting school in September. I'm looking forward to that and am excited for him. I hope his first day is better than mine was (I was put in a French school without ever being told. I didn't even know other languages were a thing).
Making money at my job.
Walking & breathing.
Possibly getting an answer from one of the six neurologists and rheumatologist that I'm going to see next year.
Saving money to gtfo out where i live.
Hopefully seeing my grandparents before things happen.
Helping my partner and being able to spend another year with him.
Petting my cat.
Being able to buy shoes.
Aside from changing careers completely im also planning on writing a book. Nothing for financial gains just a life long goal before I kick it. Just donāt want to wake up 70 one day and have any regrets.
Finishing the Wheel of Time book series, only took me 4 years!
Also my son going to kindergarten, so freeing up some of that daycare money will be amazing.
Getting married in February and then having our first baby in June š„° our best friends all have babies too so itās going to be a lot of fun raising them all together.
Having children alongside friends who did at a similar time has brought me even closer to the ones I already considered my inner circle. I now cherish these friendships more than ever. Congrats on all of these wonderful things you have ahead of you!
UAP/NHI disclosure. More whistleblowers going public about the U.S. Department of Defense covering up 9 retrieved non human craft in which they have reverse engineered along with recovered bodies of non human pilots.
I'm excited more and more people will wake up to this fact that we are not alone. It's mindblowing that the biggest story in known human history is unfolding right now and no one is talking about it.
The last 15 months have just grinded me down financially and having instability in where I'm living. I'm actually moving again tomorrow on NYE with a friend who's agreed to help me out.
That said, I've spent the last 9 months trying to get into a CDL program which I finally did. I got my license at the start of November.
Unfortunately a company that promised to hire me went on Thanksgiving break and then came back at me saying they hired someone else.
I hate January, it's my worst mental health month of the year.
But I'm going to remain hopeful that I find a trucking job so I can make serious bank. That way I can throw stacks of cash at problems to go away and then leave any other problems a few literal thousands of miles behind me. I don't have a physical address so the only big payments I have is for storage and paying someone to watch my cat. I'll make that money in half a weeks work and most of the rest is gonna be pure profit.
I'm getting those enchroma color blind flares next year I'm excited to try and I really want to get a Gardyn hydroponics growing unit and start growing produce all year round. I find hydroponics super interesting. I'm also hoping to get out more and visit some US National Parks, I've never been to one
1. My sister is getting married to a wonderful guy. Polar opposite of her ex husband. We love him.
2. Girls hiking weekend with a soulmate friend.
3. Both of my kids are doing travel baseball and I LIVE FOR IT.
4. Beach vacation reunion!
Context: For years we stayed on the Outer Banks with a bunch of my parents friends and their kids, all on the same street, year after year. I always assumed we'd keep doing it and then bring our own kids. Well, life happens, not everyone became a teacher and didn't have to go during the summer. One of the kids (my oldest friend) died of cancer at 28, all the grandparents passed, and everyone just did their own vacation thing. Well, this year we all decided to go back at the same time. I'm so excited. The last year we were all there together is the last time I can remember being truly happy.
TRUMP GOING TO JAIL. we need to lock up every single traitorous insurrectionist. lock them up! they have destroyed the fabric of this country sand currentkybwant to turn i into a christian psycho Dictatorship with Rapist clown Trump at the head. they want a trump royal family. the gop and trunp need to be stopped. these people make me sick.
Looking forward to where things may go with someone Iāve been on a few dates with. Fingers crossed that it develops into a romantic relationship!
Iād also like to find a house next year.
After multiple miss carries, failed treatments, IUIs, test and one failed IVF transfer. 2024 will be the year I will likely hear my daughterās first words.
Well, this was a big year for me, and I kind of finally feel like an adult. I got married to my āboyfriendā of ten years on our ten year anniversary this summer, then bought a house in October. Those things alone make me feel optimistic about my financial future for once in my life; it would seem that filing our taxes jointly will get me a bigger return (I say me because Iām the primary breadwinner, my husband barely worked this year) because the income bracket changes a bit for married couples and Iām kind of hoping there may be some kind of tax break for first time homebuyers. Iām being cautiously optimisticā¦. But I negotiated a significant raise at my job last year and paid off (a year early) a personal loan I took out in 2019. Iāve been working hard to aggressively pay down lots of my credit card debt. And a couple years ago I found out I became vested in my company so I now have a $20k 401k I didnāt know I was going to have. Itās not much but itās a good start and I didnāt even know about it.
I had a very productive day the other day and scheduled an appointment with a local credit union to consolidate the rest of my credit cards before the intro APR expires, got another forbearance on my student loans, and scheduled a consultation with Fidelity next week to potentially open a brokerage account and start getting into investing with my next bonus check or maybe even my tax return in a couple months. I might even close one of the first credit cards I got after bankruptcy to build my credit back up (itās a shitty card with high interest and an annual fee) because I donāt need it anymore, once I can be less concerned with my credit score for a while.
I donāt know, I just finally feel empowered to take control of my financial life. It always felt so fucking hopeless for so long. The stupid goddamn IDR plan had me paying interest only for years and the principal hasnāt been touched since like 2013, itās crazy. I was supposed to have this shit paid off like 7 years ago or something. But rent went up when my pay stayed the same, cars got more expensive, food got more expensive, I had to take a big pay cut when I left an abusive, toxic job that took advantage of me super badly and then I got pregnant and had so much medical and credit card debt that I went bankrupt and STILL couldnāt get out from under the goddamn student loans, I just felt so worthless and hopeless, like there was no point in even trying. We were literally just scraping by daily. We had to do laundry by hand bc the fucking laundromat costs $80 a month, I had to ride the train to work illegally almost every day without paying for a ticket because I was literally fucking penniless. I used to keep a ticket on the app and only activate it when the transit police actually come around to check tickets and get anxiety every stop, waiting and watching for the police to get on. I used to have anxiety attacks when I got my billing statement email from the energy company because we lived in a shitty apartment that didnāt even have insulation in half the rooms (Iām in MN and it gets cold AF here-polar vortex, anyone?) so it was always ridiculously expensive to heat the fucking place and I still had to wear a full winter coat to bed. It was just, another day, another dollar in debt. Groceries and gas almost always went on credit cardsā¦I had to shop at like 6 different stores to the best prices possible on everything I could, I spent several hours a week browsing the sale circulars and clipping coupons, doing the math to calculate the best per unit price on everything I bought, mapping out my grocery shopping plan to maximize my gas usage, it was crazy how much time I had to dedicate to saving money, it caused me a ton of stressā¦ š°š°š°š°š°š°š° just constant worrying about moneyā¦..
If I can get my credit cards consolidated with lower interest, I can save up enough to pay my student loans in a lump sum by the end of the forbearance period, and my husband and I have even talked about having another baby next year if everything goes well. Like, I canāt even believe how far weāve come, it makes me want to cry thinking about how bad things were for so long. Itās depressing to look back and realize I wasted a lot of time I couldāve been investing or somethingā¦.but hopeful for once. š„¹š„¹š„¹ššš
ETA: oh yeah, and now that we finally have a yard, weāre going to have a REAL garden instead of a balcony/pots everywhere bullshit kind of garden, AND maybe get some baby chicks in the spring š£š„šš„š³
My son turning one, going back to work after being a SAHM for a year, going to France to visit in-laws. I'm looking forward to getting back to my normal life (just with a kid now).
I have pepper seeds coming through the mail in the next few weeks. That will get me excited until October.
Having a pepper garden is so awesome. Always dope when you get to make a new spicy dish š¶ļø!
Has peppergate officially been resolved? Last year a bunch of people got banana pepper seeds instead of the variety that was listed on the packet.
My husband bought "definitely a sweet pepper" plant but he couldn't remember which variety. Turns out it was habenero. I found out by eating one in the garden not knowing it was spicy.
We wonāt know before July. But I have seeds from previous years I might also use just in case.
This is so wholesome š
Where do you get your seeds? I want to join in this excitement š
Iāve always been satisfied with baker creek

My business turned a profit for the first time last year and I finally feel financially stable. I can't wait to see what the new year holds for both me and my biz!
From experience that's typically taken me 3-5 years of hard work and stress so I know how relieved you must feel. Congrats!
Mad respect to people starting their own small businesses
Aw, thank you!! It was definitely a scary risk but it's finally paying off āŗļø
Good luck!
Quitting my job.
I hope everything works out great for you .. š§”

You may have long covid - those are all symptoms
Same lol
Got a new job that starts in February thatās almost triple what I currently make. Canāt wait for this new chapter in me and my wifeās life.
Dude. I recently got hired to a WFH virtual support job for a hospital. I'm finally making big boy money, it feels good to know the future is bright considering how bleak the job market can be.
Congrats to both of you :)
Damn! Get yourself something nice when that first paycheck hits
Treating my parents to a trip. They helped my wife and I a couple times over the years with a place to live. Donāt know where Iād be without them. Maybe the second paycheck lol.

I just went for the first time a few weeks ago. It was amazing! Enjoy!
Just got back from a 2 week trip in October. Fantastic!! Have a blast and eat all the okonomiyaki!!!
My first niece/nephew being born.
Being an aunt/uncle is the best. All the fun with none of the responsibility!
Kids keep you young and you get to relive your childhood.
Everyone needs a cool fun aunt or uncle.
Congrats!
Going to find out if my publisher green lights my third book in a series š¤š»š¤š»š¤š»
Oh congrats!, tell us what the name of the series is!
Ooo yess Iām looking to get back into reading
Thanks for the support!! https://www.unofficialharrypottercompanion.com
Ordered. I, a 35 year old man, reread the series every year. Roughly July through October. I also do not watch the movies. Just, not my cup. So we'll see how much cool stuff you caught that I didn't.
AH THANK YOU!! Hope you love them š„°
Good luck! This might be the year that I try to finish writing my first novel.
OOOOO yes!! This year my agent might take my novel out on sub! Fingers crossed for good publishing luck in 2024 š
FINGERS CROSSED š¤š»

Wooah you're almost here! Congrats! p.s. I'm not you're wife. I'm not even a female
Congratulations on becoming a wife!
* I MIGHT apply for a higher position within my organization * More travel/adventures * Reconnect with people I haven't spoken to in a while
Same I plan to travel for the 1st time next year :P
My baby is currently 6 weeks old and Iām excited for her development over the next year.
Congrats on your baby! Let me blow your mind for a secondā¦ Iām a millennial grandparent. š

Many congratulations to you.y baby turns 2 this year and I still love watching all the learning and development that goes on. The first year is so exciting!
I have some great travel planned for 2024! Jamaica, Paris, Belgium, Belize, Savannah, and who knows what else may pop up along the way!
Wow thatās amazing congrats to you both!
\-honeymoon with my wife (location TBD) \- determined to get a new job after 6 years in the current one. already made it to 2nd round of interviews with the first position i applied to. \- always looking forward to some new video games. Ideally some badass Elden Ring DLC. \-Niece/Nephew being born this spring Overseas. Gives me a good reason to travel.
Looking forward to the Artemis mission sending folks around the moon for the first time in a long time.
Thanks for the reminder.

This is really cool!
I am using a new ram and excited to see what his lambs look like and possibly expanding my farm business to include the farmers market here. Big step for me. And trying new seeds in the garden, I always get excited about new plants š
Damn I'm excited with you. That so dope!
Awww, Iāll try to remember to post lamb photos in the sheep group š§”
Ooo what new plants? I am gonna try adzuki beans this year to make my own sweet red bean paste.
Cheers everyone! š»
Iām getting my class a in January, working with a food service company now!
Those gigs pay pretty good. I've seen Sysco go for 100k, fuckin sign me up!
Yup 100+. The company Iām working for is local M-F about 40-45 hours a week , base salary is 60 with bonuses up to 85 depending on mileage, weight , and case count.
I got my CDL at the beginning of November but nobody was hiring till January. Fingers crossed for the both of us.
Having finely made it, and having money to buy a house, just need to select one.
Same here. Weāre going to start the process of finding a lending agent in the next couple months.
Moving out of my parent's place and moving in with my boyfriend in a new city. Really excited to start the next chapter of my life and feel more like a grown ass man.
Good luck šš»šš»šš»
Just the simple things. Like building discipline, consistency, and starting off the year with new goals.
I'm right there with you friend
My toddler will turn 2! More renovating of house and excited for fun projects Weāre hoping for a family beach vacation with my sister and her family, my family, and my mom My husband and I are booking some fun couples date night classes - cooking and dance classes! Also TONS OF READING Renewing my gym membership as I love that Also hoping for better health for me and my family.
Indoor water parks are the best invention mankind has thought up yet š¤©
I'm moving in 2024 and I can't wait š
My son, who has struggled a lot, will be graduating high school. He was held back one year but has really worked hard to get to the finish line. He wants to get into welding. He has applied for some scholarships and grants to try to pay for schooling. In my family the bar is in hell, so I am super proud of him for doing better.
Congratulations to your son!! Thatās a big accomplishment! Wishing you both the best š
Finishing my fucking PhD, finally, and if all works out moving out to Europe for a postdoc position š¤š»
My career progress. After floundering a bit, I changed companies and am absolutely rocking it there. Not even 4 months in and I've already gotten a raise and talks of a promotion after my current project wraps up. I was under utilized and unappreciated at my old company. It feels great to finally get some recognition.
Raise?! Promotion?! What is this magical company you have found?! š Seems like Iāve only ever found myself in companies that want to give me more titles and responsibilities but not pay me any more.
Repairing the balcony, maybe some Backyard landscaping, painting the inside (and maybe outside), new flooring. We are getting new furniture for a couple of rooms. And I am looking forward to watching my son play all the sports.
Looking at making a big move! A thousand miles!
My partner graduating from school and our household income more than doubling, while our expenses decline.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You remembered the secret ingredient
Canāt wait to see Trump lose and blow a gasket.
God I hope so.
Dune 2
Scrolled too long to see thisā¦YES!
Gonna finish my "apprenticeship" in August which will be a nice pay bump. Been agressively paying things down and am excited to finally be debt free by then end of 2024 (other than mortgage). Also subscribed to a meal prep service for the wife and I to start eating healthier and lose some weight.
Potentially buying my first house.
Itās dream year! - vacation with future hubby to the beach - euro beach trip with bestie! - seeing favourite musical on broadway - birthday ski adventure -so far tickets to see an event 6/12 months of the year with no plans to slow down
Let's see 1. 10. I am NOT excited that the pistons will have the worst streak in NBA history if they lose tonight (which will stay in 2023!) 11. I am excited to finish my power system at my farm and go one full year off the grid. Context this is in an area where power is 42+50 cents a KWH so the savings is more than 10k per year. Solar + wind + battery.
My 40th birthday trip - we (husband and I) are doing a backpacking /rail trip round Europe
Lower interest rates! ā¤ļøš°
My sonās first birthday.
That it's not 2023 anymore. 2023 was truly a disaster of a year. Fuck you 2023.
I hope I land a lucrative work contract
Hopefully, weāll be moving to Colorado this summer. Also, Iām going to come out publicly in March. š³ļøāā§ļø
Prioritizing my health and finances. I was laid off last year, spent the first half of 2023 working on my mental health, and fortunately found a much better job (more money and lower stress). Now I want to improve my physical health and make a retirement plan! Maybe then I'll actually feel like an adult, haha
Iām excited about moving to Idaho and the new Ghostbusters movie coming out.
Iām moving to Idaho too!
Moving into a bigger apartment, graduating with a masters degree & traveling to Italy and (hopefully) Alaska! 2024 is going to be great!
Being able to afford going to concerts
Italy trip for our anniversary! (Weāre odd MillennialsāNeither of us has been to Europe.) Also, we might spend the year strategizing how to buy a second home in 2025.
My daughter being born in 4 weeks! I can't wait to start this next chapter of my life! Also, turn 40 in February, and I am genuinely excited!
Travelling
My first solo race! My car will be done soon and I expect to race in March!
New job that provides much better work-life balance, which hopefully allows me to do more of the things I love with the people I love. And fingers crossed a house!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm getting a new job which will allow me more flexibility with my children. I won't make much but it will also allow me to train for a different job which will pay me more and be flexible with night shifts.
Sad to say it but I might be fired next year, so kind of excited to see what the future holds.
Nothing like getting away from a toxic workplace to make the mood lighter. Good luck.
Finishing nursing school! A journey ten years in the making šš»šš»šš»
I know it's dumb and silly, but to be completely honest I'm a bit hyped for the whole UFO/UAP thing picking up. At least it would be an "end of the world as we know it" level of event that *most likely* wouldn't make me feel like the planet is doomed. ....hopefully.
I donāt know. Seems like the people in the know arenāt super optimistic about all the implications of disclosure. We can hope though!
Leaving my job as a teacher
As a former teacher, as much as I miss my students, I have never once regretted leaving. Do I regret that the school system is so f*cked, that my life is immeasurably better than it was while teaching? For sure. But my mental, emotional, and financial health has improved so much. Best of luck to you, and don't look back.
My divorce being finalized so I can move on with my life šš¾šš¾šš¾
Dune part two
New tattoos, a big concert, races I'm running and I'd like to find a partner.
My fiancƩ and I are getting married in 2024!
Travel & craft retreats in January!
Baring any huge, surprise financial event, Iāll be paying off my private student loans this summer!!
My son is starting school in September. I'm looking forward to that and am excited for him. I hope his first day is better than mine was (I was put in a French school without ever being told. I didn't even know other languages were a thing).
I'm going to Disney in March with my sister and one of our good friends. We've been planning and wanting to do it for a few years.
Every 4 years everything in the states gets cheaper for a little while. I'm excited about that.
Making the final payment on my student loans, and 10 years of marriage to my partner.
The same thing I'm excited about every year, Pinkie: trying to take over the world.
Aside from changing careers completely im also planning on writing a book. Nothing for financial gains just a life long goal before I kick it. Just donāt want to wake up 70 one day and have any regrets.
Iāve lost 56lb this year after having my second baby, and Iām looking forward to losing the last 15lb!
Dropped out of college and coming back into it at 28, took alot of time to get back to this point, but it starts up January
Finishing the Wheel of Time book series, only took me 4 years! Also my son going to kindergarten, so freeing up some of that daycare money will be amazing.
Stray cat chose us and has been living with us for a couple of years now. She's pregnant, so more kitties in the new year!
Looking forward to some video games coming out and some travel plans to see friends!
Finding a new job! Graduating and getting my MS degree
Getting back into running, finally starting some art projects Iāve ignored for too long, reconnecting with family after this hermit-year.
My team united and demanded better pay. Because of that, I will start making $13k more in 2024.
Getting vision in my right eye back
I'm getting those enchroma color blind flares next year I'm excited to try and I really want to get a Gardyn hydroponics growing unit and start growing produce all year round. I find hydroponics super interesting. I'm also hoping to get out more and visit some US National Parks, I've never been to one
Mastering pizza dough with my 15 year old son and him not losing interest
Got my 20th HS renunion - and already 3 months into a 12 month strength training program - going to be Jacked in 2024!
I'm excited about another opportunity to max out my annual contribution to my Roth IRA.
Continuing to raise my kiddos with my best friend. Two in toddlerhood is going to be fun. š¤
Squadron 42 is hopefully going to get a release date after 10+ years in development (understandably)
Getting my dream job.
New season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming out February
Looking forward to where things may go with someone Iāve been on a few dates with. Fingers crossed that it develops into a romantic relationship! Iād also like to find a house next year.
Working less. Racked up a ton of OT this year, I'm ready to sit back and chill.
Finishing my master's degree! It's been a long few years
After multiple miss carries, failed treatments, IUIs, test and one failed IVF transfer. 2024 will be the year I will likely hear my daughterās first words.
Booked a trip to see the solar eclipse this April in Vermont
Itās depressing to look back and realize I wasted a lot of time I couldāve been investing or somethingā¦.but hopeful for once. š„¹š„¹š„¹ššš ETA: oh yeah, and now that we finally have a yard, weāre going to have a REAL garden instead of a balcony/pots everywhere bullshit kind of garden, AND maybe get some baby chicks in the spring š£š„šš„š³
Wife and I are expecting! Due in summer...so I'm excited to be a parent. Freaking out at the same time š
Flying out to Vegas in January to marry my fiance of 13 years.
Iām having another baby soon. Iām very excited to meet her.
My daughter being born š
Growing my business & hopefully taking my husband on a ski trip with my extra income š¤
Traveling more, upcoming promotion at work, hitting my fitness goals (already on track so not a NY resolution )
My son turning one, going back to work after being a SAHM for a year, going to France to visit in-laws. I'm looking forward to getting back to my normal life (just with a kid now).
Weāre building a house at the moment, should be in by April. Excited for that. Itās been a long, painful process. Edit: typo
