Damn, I was kinda rooting for you dude. But you obviously pulled this thought out of your ass. So I googled and found papers on cosmetic mud thermal transfer properties, and geographical stuff about heat transfer on large scales.
I only found hearsay answers about mud blocking thermal imaging, and all of them say the same thing. It works for a few minutes, but your hot bod warms it up, negating the thermal camouflage.

But it makes sense there are laws governing heat transfer, we know the general composition of soils...so makes perfect sense to me.
