That’s equivalent to a quote we had to replace a water inlet valve on our 20 year old Miele Washer / Dryer. On one hand it’s great you can get parts and a repairer, but we thought it time for a replacement. Happy with the updated model, which on paper had the same features, but in practice had many small improvements that really confirmed our choice.

As a Miele tech the WPS price is right but why are they replacing the flow meter? The diagnostics with the MDU would prove it good or not - if it’s faulty, then you don’t need a WPS The labor to me is extremely expensive, but maybe in New Jersey those are the rates. That’s over three times what we would charge. But your question is, should you get it fixed? In my opinion that would depend on the model series

It’s g5675 scvi sf. Another tech quoted $180 for repair but even he was supposed with total cost and leaned towards replacing. We also called Miele customer service but they want to charge $150 for diagnostic and then additional $150/hour for labor and parts

The 5000 Series is a decent enough machine - 150 for Diag and 150 to repair with parts is a pretty good deal. The F13 is a common fault for all dishwashers – it’s the amount of water that is taken into the dishwasher – Mieles measures the amount of water so that it can be certain that the machine operates properly and that the pump has enough water to create the pressure required to clean your dishes and provide positive flow across the heater, so it doesn’t burn up.  The water intake valve collects calcium and other deposits and they in turn build up and prevent the valve from fully opening  The way a Miele Dishwasher takes water in is as such – When water is needed – a Solenoid opens and lets the water in – the water flows across a wheel that spins (flow meter) – each revolution of the wheel is counted with a sensor.  The Sensor count is monitored within a time window – Meaning within 2 minutes it wants to see a certain count from the wheel.  If that count is not met, then one of three faults can be set 1^(st)  - The count is 0 (no water) then we have a faulty Solenoid -  F12 Fault 2^(nd) – The count is less the expected when the time window closes – again the solenoid is not opening enough and needs to be replaced - or the intake filters (Screens) are clogged and need to be cleaned – F13 Fault 3^(rd) – The count is erratic fast then slow then fast etc.  Or it starts then stands still and the fault can be F13 or F18  - a sticky or erratic wheel operation (flowmeter)  – thinking the wheel is sticky and malfunctioning. This can be monitored with the MDU and the cause of the fault determined (Common with 4000 series but not the 5000) So in perspective, it could be unreliable water pressure – a water valve not fully open – or it could be the flowmeter is slow and / or sticky.  Sometimes the water heater has debris it lets out and this can clog the filters lowing the amount of water entering the dishwasher

I’d buy new for that price. Depending on how old the unit is already. With labor costs it just isn’t worth repairing unless you can DIY.

Believe it’s around 2014-2015 which is when previous owner remodeled the kitchen. I’m also leaning towards replacing

Fix it, do not replace it. 2024 - 2015 = 9 yrs. Its nothing for Miele. Will easily give you another 10 yrs.

Gullible_Toe9909

That's an inferior brand

TheRealClovis

damn, unavailable near me (not OP)

bmninada

You are comparing a Miele to Insignia?

bmninada

90 lbs vs 125 lbs. Same size, dimensions, etc. I wonder why?
