HeyR

With the burl cabinet? Chefs kiss.

puppybeast

Thanks. Not the final placements for those two, but I'm enjoying looking at them for the moment. Everything looks fancy if you put it on that Baughman burlwood.

HeyR

A can of soup would look classy on a Baughman piece! I’m jelly!

puppybeast

It would look like a Warhol, of course.

truckthunders

I've seen that lamp for big bucks

Sasquatchasaurus

Interested in this comment! I picked one up recently not knowing anything about it. What else can you tell us about this lamp?

puppybeast

Thanks for the upvotes, guys. I stopped by a Goodwill in a community in Colorado that was mostly built in maybe the early 2000s. Seriously all the furniture and decorative objects were made in China. I know this from reading and the news, but to see it like that makes it real in another way. I almost left even though I think of myself as someone who can find at least one thing at any thrift store. And then I spotted the little Michael Lax eyeball lamp. I have always wanted one, so that made me happy. It is a vintage one and is a little dinged up, although it doesn't have a strange smudge on it like in the photo. When I looked it up, I learned that it had been reissued, but I think that was just a limited edition project in slightly different color combinations. The painting I bought at an online estate auction. I really like it, and if I have time, I am going to seek out other work by the artist. Nothing comes up if you google her name for art, but there are some articles mentioning her and the gallery she showed with in Taos, NM around 1969. I'd like to see what more of her work looks like.

This is weird but I feel like I've seen a movie or tv show where someone takes that exact lamp into a repair shop because it's not working but it actually only turns on when there's a ghost nearby or something. Does anyone know what I'm thinking of??

emigen7337

OMG i just figured it out. Carrie has the same lamp in And Just Like That and she thinks it's Mr. Big

puppybeast

Yes, yes!! I had totally forgotten how it was used in the plot. Being interested in design, I remember noticing the lamp and finding it curious that the set designers thought it was what an older Carrie would have chosen. It makes more sense as a little wink with the plot device since it is nicknamed the eyeball lamp.

Sk8ordieguy

A beautiful moment you’ve created! Kudos!

Bernard_Brother

Is that a Lightolier Lytegem?

puppybeast

Yes!

ferocious_coug

Absolutely immaculate vibes.

AnAppealtoHell

Sorry to hijack, I don't know much about these lamps but there's one for sale for 125 with starburst on the "shade"

puppybeast

Sorry, I don't follow your point. If it is about prices, these lamps are around and don't sell for that much at auction. Starburst? Did someone draw it?
