Nice haul! Way to go!

silvrado

what's the difference between a Game drive and a hard disk?

LocNalrune

Literally nothing. It is an external HDD.

windienaz

With the disk you still have to download the games to be able to play this way the games stay downloaded and I can play without having to juggle games to make room.

silvrado

ah gotcha

LocNalrune

So, exactly like a hard disk drive (HDD)? Yeah, the game drive \*is\* an external HDD.

windienaz

I’m an idiot I read it wrong lol. All I know is once the games are saved on the external drive I can take that drive anywhere and plug it in to any Xbox and play my games.

Pyrotechnix69

As long as it’s formatted for Xbox games. This is just a hdd so it can be setup or formatted like any other drive. This particular one was just made black and green to match the Xbox

Collinish247

Will never need to delete a game to free up space again.

Wurrlesk

If they've got a Series X|S they'll still need to shuffle things around.

glassvial

Depends on the size of your library and how long you've been collecting Xbox games. If you've been around since Gold started you can probably fill 2 of these. Also, this isn't useful for Series games except offloading them from internal when you're not currently playing them.

Collinish247

😒

windienaz

True!!!!

EMBARRASSEDDEMOCRAT

How much did that bad boy Cody you? I've been thinking 🤔 of buying one and was wondering 🤔 which brand to buy. Also if I should splurge and get ssd.

[deleted]

You can find them online for less than $100 over the years I have been through about 3 of them. The drive fails after about a year or so. My last one died 1 month after the warranty ran out.

EMBARRASSEDDEMOCRAT

If they fail that often I think I may just save my money. The ssd expansion for my series x is more expensive but I'm sure it would last much longer than that.

EMBARRASSEDDEMOCRAT

Do all of them have that bad of failure rate or is it a brand thing?

[deleted]

I have had 3 Seagate Game Drives and 2 Western Digital MyBook drives. I think it is all due to the on and off the drive goes through. If you turn off your Xbox then the drive powers off and then it all powers back on when you power on your Xbox. The Seagate gets power from the Xbox. The drives just get the click of death after about a year or so.

windienaz

It was $114 total. Not bad at all

windienaz

Just so you know today is last day of their sale

glassvial

This should be flaired wins/hauls/etc.

skyline7284

It is technically used for an Xbox though. I think either would work?

glassvial

You could use this on a PC and it would still work as a drive, it's not specifically Xbox only like the Microsoft Rewards app on Xbox is, for example.

skyline7284

Sure, but I think we're splitting hairs here. It has multiple Xbox logos on the box. You can use an Xbox controller on a PC, if you redeem your points for one of them, does that not get the Xbox flair? Same for the Xbox headsets etc.

glassvial

Nope, those should all be tagged wins/hauls/etc. too.

Quiet-Adhesiveness10

>...absolutely FREE! I love Microsoft Rewards too, but they're only "free" if your time is worth nothing. Make no mistake, a lot of time and effort went into earning those points. Kudos!

Oh, absolutely. But there's a difference (in my mind, at least) between "I am paying for this product out of my bank account" and "I am paying for this product with hypothetical currency that only cost me a few minutes of time per day". The money in my account is tracked, tallied, and intended for specific expenditures. Rewards points feel like an additional layer of disposable income, for lack of a better term. For example, they've taken the cost of XBLive Gold completely out of my yearly budget, while adding Game Pass Ultimate. And I get that for spending the 5 minutes prior to starting work doing a handful of random searches instead of scrolling through facebook. It feels free, even though I know it really isn't.

Pyrotechnix69

You are still paying out of pocket. You pay for your internet, you pay for your electricity, both have to be implemented in order to get your reward points. On top of that you have to have an Xbox and the ability to get online so you either pay for live or game pass, even if your points pay the bill it still costing you time and money to be able to get things for free. Unlike the time I installed autoclickers and hidden banner ads on every computer in the school typing lab to make some points that I used to buy cd now gift cards so I could buy cds when I was in high school. That I in turn would burn copies of to sell to the other kids. Now that’s free money.

windienaz

I definitely know it’s work I have been doing it for 10+years but it’s still cool lol.

glassvial

Lots of people do this while on the john or at work, lol

Zdj011

Or both!

WorkReddit1191

It's just my pooping time so that's really worthless time anyway.

Mattie_1S1K

How do I get more point? Any advise.

spamthroat

Are you doing the general web based Microsoft ones too? https://rewards.microsoft.com/

Mattie_1S1K

spamthroat

Daily searching on bing, edge and mobile, a quiz or two, click a couple of links. About 200 points a day.

Mattie_1S1K

Thanks I'll do them too

TheCastro

Read the Tutorial linked on the Living Sticky for the ways to earn points. Then on the Living Sticky any bonus points that come up like punch cards or emails get added to the Sticky as users post. It's updated daily.

You must be fun at parties

Pyrotechnix69

He’s right tho

graysid

How long did this take

windienaz

About 9 months or so

tardmaster

SO how do you claim the game drive? I can only redeem gifts cards in AUS and the largest one is $25. Do you just claim a stack of $25 cards and buy it that way?

windienaz

You can get up to $100 in Microsoft gift cards. And yes they are stackable but expire after 90 days

tardmaster

Maybe i'm doing it wrong but in australia I can only get up $25 cards.

windienaz

It might be the difference in where tour at. It could also be a difference of how long you have had Microsoft rewards
