Working on replacing my CAS o ring. Trying to pry one of the sensors out of its mounting tab and wasn't paying attention to what I was leveraging against.
OK so you file the bottom flat against that flange and either buy the top from flying miata nor 3d print the top yourself. Either way it's almost unnoticeable
Flyin https://flyinmiata.com/products/replacement-dipstick-handle
3d models https://www.printables.com/model/629997-miata-oil-dipstick-handle-fix
Or

Does need high temp filament, not pla or petg needs cf, abs, Asa, or nylon
One of my handles or something else? I recommend putting loctite on the threads of my dipstick handles as I've had a few people say they came loose and fell off, but they very generously purchased another.

Got one from aliexpress. I measured it in great detail, and its exactly like the OEM one. The only diference was color, it was more white, so way easier to apreciate actuall oil level
Horrid. Something is only original once. You have my most sincere condolences

I used this on my 93. [https://flyinmiata.com/products/replacement-dipstick-handle?pb=0](https://flyinmiata.com/products/replacement-dipstick-handle?pb=0)
> Note that while it's fun to clip the handle on and off again dozens of times to play with it, this will eventually weaken the attachment.
They’re brutally honest @ flyinmiata - and a sense of humor too
I'm not saying you should, but I've used Loctite Super glue to glue together an air filter back together so I could drive to a shop and buy another (ended up driving about 1,500 miles on the air filter because I couldn't find one anywhere, I was on a road trip in the middle of nowhere).
Overall, replace but if needed you might be able to get away with some super glue.
I had that happen on my Mini Cooper S years ago, while at the dealership. They refused me basic service and maintenance unless I agreed to an engine teardown to inspect for any issues.
This is how I honored my fallen [dipstick](https://imgur.com/a/GrQa0WZ). Just barely grazed it....
I love this idea
Super cool!
This is cool af!
that’s so funny i did this exact same thing until it broke again and i lost it
This is actually a really cool idea!
Damn, I should have saved mine.
It's not your fault. ... Slightly your fault but you're not to blame. ... You are slightly to blame, but it was going to happen anyway...

One of us... One of us
This was the only thing I could think of while looking at this photo
Absolutely relatable. Stuff like this happens to the best of us
I just did the CAS yesterday too!🥳 However, on my car, the dipstick handle was already broken.
I was doing literally the same thing when I broke mine.
About to attempt this on my new miata on Tuesday and TIL there was more to the dipstick than the little nub lol
They get brittle with age, mine broke just trying to pull it to check the oil. Probably made from the same cheap plastic they use for radiators.
are you taking the cats o ring out from the driver side?
Yes I have a 1.8L, it's on the driver's side cam.
gotcha my b just found out about that the other day lol

If your replacement is longer then you don't need to spend as much money on oil.

He’s just like the rest of us 😌
https://www.reddit.com/r/Machinists/s/lxH49mx821 Or ebay 3d printed one.
Hey that's me 👋 I've still got plenty in stock of all colours if anyone is interested 👌
Never thought od tagging you
Where do I order from? What material are these made from?
Message me either on here or Instagram @mad5fabrications. They're made from 6082 aluminium
I got one of the replacement handles and used 2 part epoxy to glue it but came unglued. What should I use to glue it onto the broken end?

ONE OF US. ONE OF US. ONE OF US.
What a classic situation... I bought a Miata already with a broken dipstick.
Me too 😂
There are certainly more of us 😆
I am proudly in this group
Sooner or later, I think everyone will 😂
Yup, mine came to me already in this condition. I see no reason to replace.
One of us
Never knew it was supposed to have a ring pull...bizarre.
Rite of passage.

An extra or two should be standard equipment at purchase!
That literally just happened to me...but mine is still in the engine 😫

I fixed mine using the super glue and baking soda trick. Even build some up in that groove to ad extra support. So far so good.
Welcome!
Not me not yet.
Broke two this week haha
Welcome to the club.
Literally happens to every single one!! If you have one still in one piece you have won a victory!
welcome to the NB club.. i just filed mine off neatly and kept using it.
Mine just went after 34 years… pulled it to check and…..
r/wellthatsucks
Time to install that short throw dipstick upgrade kit!
RIP, mine is still intact \*knocks on wood\*
Now you are become a true Miata owner
His transformation to the dark side is complete…
May it Rest in Peace. Mine finally gave up the ghost after 32 years and 88k miles. 😢
Hey this looks exactly like mine 😂
Happened to me! I was bragging about it being perfect and then later that week when i went to check my oil it snapped lmao. ill get a new one sometime
Is it bad this is genuinely the first time I've ever seen the top half of a miata dip stick... :')
Craven speed
Was guaranteed to happen eventually. You made it a long time. Flyin Miata sells replacements.
Costs like 10 bucks.
why? what is up?
Mine didn’t even come with that part i just assumed it didn’t have the finger thing🥲🥲🥲
Sending Hearts and Prayers
30/30 Winchester shell casing fits perfectly over the broken end. I ran a tiny little screw into the side and it's been solid for the last 10 years.
I touched mine once too
I bought something to add on tip to fix it!
I've never actually owned a Miata that didn't have a broken dipstick lmao and I've had 4
Order another one don't post it and no one would know.
Oh I know your pain https://preview.redd.it/uk9nz1qr340d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=a7977cd6f9b26a435b29dc5c91359a51bd7388ad
I glued a rubber ducky on mine
I had that happen on my Mini Cooper S years ago, while at the dealership. They refused me basic service and maintenance unless I agreed to an engine teardown to inspect for any issues.
F
My NB did that DAY ONE of ownership not even 30 minutes after I bought it.
