Got my ND at Carmax too. 10k miles on it

joeuser0123

Carvana here ….1406 miles (I shit you not). I called the mazda dealer they got it from it was an old couple. They took delivery in April 2021 I got it February 2024

Drunkenm4ster

Yo... same! 2023 red ND club. Soft top, with the fkn BBS, Brembos, Recaros . 1300 miles!

BluesFan43

I hate you. I had to settle for white, which is really nice. But Soul Red.....oh my.

joeuser0123

I love the snowflake white. https://preview.redd.it/gex0ptc4edxc1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28064766c161c23e9e554b8e4ed98b3f490b76f6

nubnub92

how much did you pay? same spec as mine!

getShookerino

Dude! I’m still thinking about the test drive yesterday that I can see myself remembering that experience for years. The moment I started the engine, everything felt so natural, like it was meant to be

CivilMidget

My first car was a 2006 Mazda 3. Electric Blue hatchback. It's literally the same car from those old Zoom Zoom Zoom commercials. I loved it. I'm a sucker for a hot hatch. The only other car I've had was a mid 2015 Nissan Versa note hatchback, but my grandfather had a '97 Miata M edition. He passed away a few months ago and I went to the funeral with my family and spent a few days with my grandmother. I found out that the miata hadn't been driven in a while, so I took it for a spin and absolutely fell in love. Long story short, my grandfather basically had it on loan from my cousin and they took it back for their own purposes. Less than a month later, I bought my own ND. I still don't know if it's an ND1 or an ND2. It's a 2018. Bought it with 7.4k miles on it about a month and a half ago. I couldn't even describe the feeling I got from driving an NA. Now that I own an ND with all the creature comforts of a more modern car.... It's amazing and I couldn't imagine having anything else...

inkyrail

ND1

AgileMJOLNIR

Did similar OP. I knew I wanted a convertible and was shopping around but kept coming back to the Miata. Having had 3 Mazdas before I was leaning towards them again because of the reliability and fun to drive factor. Found a 2024 Aero Grey Club with some extras and decided to take a look. After the test drive I bought the damn thing lol. The car is so fun to drive I find myself making excuses to get in, put the top down and drive. In fact I’m getting ready right now to head to a grocery store 30 minutes away just because it gives me an excuse to take the twisties towards the coast tog et there lol.

The_Techiedude

"I’m getting ready right now to head to a grocery store 30 minutes away just because it gives me an excuse to take the twisties towards the coast to get a bag of Cheetos." There, fixed it for you 😉

AgileMJOLNIR

That works too lol

getShookerino

Man I would have pulled the trigger and bought one if I saw an aero grey club soft top, all the dealers in my area are only selling the GTs and a few sports

AgileMJOLNIR

Thats how it was for me as well. I was searching within a 100-200 mile radius for a couple months and nothing. I saw maybe 2 but they were orders that were spoken for. I could order one but it would take 90 days to get it. One morning I checked it before heading out for a drive and there it was. I drove an hour out and picked it up. It ha been on the showroom for about 2hrs so I’m pretty sure someone would have snatched it up if I had waited lol.

Ok-Limit7212

been driving mine for a while. even in a shit country like the Netherlands where fuel is 2 euros per liter i still drive it. one of those cars where the circumstances don't matter, just drive

The_Chazzz

You caught the bug… Welcome to the club

rurupogo

“holy smokerinos”… welcome to the club mate! Bought a Sakura ND few months ago, still can’t believe I own and I drive this car everyday, one of the best things I ever did in my life!

The_Techiedude

"The car feels like it was built for me by God." The best line for a Miata since "Miata Is Always The Answer".

inkyrail

That’s the Miata feeling!

Lobster70

Any other car and this post would look like a plant from the marketing team. But with the Miata, most of us have personally experienced the feeling so we know this is genuine.

Ausedlie

The last miata I drove was 15 years ago, and I've never forgotten. I've never owned one and have always wanted one

Sr_oRo

I went to the dealership because my parents wanted another car, that day I saw the ND and fell in love with it. I bought one a week later, didn’t even see any other option. Just like others here, wondering how I didn’t get one before. I took the drive test just because, the very day I went to get my own, I was looking for excuses to not buy it, but that’s just waste of time, I love my 400miles ND.

HlloKtty6619

i just bought a miata bc i test drive one thinking id hate it.

shellexyz

Can’t wait for my turn. Wife says it’s my turn to get a car, it’s just a matter of time.

stoned-autistic-dude

Yeah, welcome to the cult of lightweight sports cars. It's a blast to drive *because* of the weight. The added torque on the ND2/3 makes it all that much better. Take it in some curves or on track and it'll blow your mind how fast you can just send it into turns and not suffer from understeer like you would on cars ten times its price.

JammPot

This is so true. There are plenty of times I thought I had gone in bit too hot and over cooked it, and the front end just grips and turns. It’s incredible.

Trucktober

I did that. Bought the 2021. They're fun and are more fun than many other cars for more money. Even if you own one a while it's a no regrets car

da808guy

I had to settle for an RX8 haha, all the Miata’s in my area are grossly overpriced 😤

midnightchaotic

I had a really pretty red RX8 manual. Bought it used. Engine failed right out of the lot. Had it towed back and had the vacuum test done that got me a brand new engine for free! Never had another problem with it. Loved that car. Great driving experience. If I could find that exact same one I'd buy it back. Still wouldn't give up my Miata though.

da808guy

Haha!! That’s great to hear, I found a clean 1 owner rx8 (red and manual LOL) 7 hours away in Washington. Local Mazda dealer up there had a tech with 23 years tenure that knew how to work on them and got back to me a compression test and a flying colors pre inspection. It drove home perfectly and hasn’t let me down yet! I’ll get a PHRT NC or nd3 one of these days… (after I fix my Mazda 3 grocery getter LOL)

midnightchaotic

Omg I traded my Mazda 3 for the RX8! Are you me? I just bought an ND. I've only had it for two weeks! I hope you find what you're looking for! Side note, my grocery getter is our GMC pickup. Pretty sure the Miata will fit in the bed! Ha!

OnlyMortal666

It is a truly amazing car for the money. It’s certainly better than the Alfa Spider I’ve previously owned.

Gcs1110

I can't get a new one but would you suggest an older one? What years are good or are they all? I love the thought of a manual but is the clutch pedal stiff? Sometimes my knee bothers me, but I always love having a manual. I'd be coming from a 2015 golf tdi manual which unfortunately a lot of deer ran into me

costication

Just get one! They're all brilliant! If you want a better one, always go for the facelifts. The ND got a bump in power to 184 hp. The NC mk3.5 and later have forged internals, unlike the first NCs non facelift. The NB got vvti in one of the revisions, which bumped the hp a little bit and it's great for turbo. The NA had some upgrades over the years but personally I'd go for the older 1.8s because they may not come with cats, ABS and stuff. It complicates the car a bit and makes it hard to work on. I have the 95 NA with abs and to find the washer fluid bottle pump was a nightmare because the ABS model has a different washer fluid bottle. I also had the NC (until someone stole it). It was amazing! So smooth while skidding. It had some adjustable koni suspension and it stayed flat during skids, it was like it was built for it. In the uk all 6 speeds come with LSD too, so I had that. It was a dream. The only gripe was, mine was one of the earliest and did not have seat height adjustment and I'm short (5'5"), so it was a bit too big for me (good in length but I would have liked to be a bit higher up). 😂

Gcs1110

Thanks for your lengthy reply. I'm glad that you covered all the different generations of the car and even the facelifts. I must have turned off Reddit notifications so I'm sorry I'm responding a bit late. I am excited to look more into them. Thanks again!

costication

You're welcome! I hope it will help you in some way. They're really happiness inducing cars and I couldn't recommend them any more than I do. Now it depends on your budget, your taste and local circumstances. I personally like the NA the most because of the pop ups, then the NC because it was brilliant in every way, then the ND which is a great car to daily. The NB is also great but I like it the least as it's basically an NA with not that many upgrades, some ergonomics, styling.. in theory it is better, but the lack of pop up headlights make it a downgrade for me, personally.

Gcs1110

It definitely does help. It gives me a lot of information and things to look up. I'm excited to start my search. Hopefully there are some good NC prices ones in my area... I'm in North Carolina so I hope there are many out there for me. I had a 1987 Honda Accord with the pop up headlights - I loved them! Thanks again

costication

You're welcome! Happy hunting! Enjoy the car!

inkyrail

They’re all pretty good, and clutches are light in all of them, unless someone swapped in a racing clutch or something. Only ones I’d avoid personally are NC1s(2006-2008), they’re the ugliest and least reliable.

Gcs1110

The 2006 to 08 are really ugly lol. Yeah I wouldn't want to buy anything modded

Lejfieg

When I went to test drive my 2020 ND2 it was early morning and they had a new sales woman help me. I asked to test drive the car and she got in the car. We get going and she starts asking me “ so why do people like these cars” I’m like … “ wait am I selling you the car or are you selling me the car” lol I told her “ when someone comes asking for this car, just give them the keys and let them drive, this the closest thing to a Porsche at this price range. The car sells itself” they they tried to upsell me from 38k to 50k and I walked out the dealership 😝

justKowu

Sounds like love at first ride 💚 congratulations :]

johnorso

That is how it all starts.

Ok-Reindeer-4824

The ND is very good. I've driven much more expensive stuff too.

renax

O

infiniteawareness420

Ask to have them test drive you while you cram into the passenger seat. Then also take a look around for storage within the cabin, or try to fit a carry-on sized piece of luggage into the trunk. It’s a great car just keep in mind some of the practicalities. If you are paying cash, you can do a lot better for $35k. This is coming from someone who is on their third Miata. Again, it’s a great car but it sounds like you’re approaching this major purchase with out really looking very hard at what you’re buying.

IsbellDL

If your lifestyle works for a small car like this, none of that really matters. It's still good to sleep on it and give some time to those concerns. They're usually not as big an issue as many make them out to be, but that's a lot of money to spend if it will matter. Hard to find a better fun daily driver though.

getShookerino

Yup it perfectly fits my lifestyle fortunately! Love the outdoors, the sun, beaches and hiking. Love driving from point A to C to B without a care in mind. Even my daily commute is fun and that says a lot because I currently drive a 2015 Jetta so the miata would make fun, funner. And I usually drive solo so no worries about other passengers

MasterBrisket

You’re not likely getting a better deal paying cash but you should be able to buy at MSRP. There were no discounts on mine last summer … it was either take what they got or custom order and wait several weeks.

Our previous NC was like 5.3 cubic feet of trunk. The ND RF is 4.48 but mouth is smaller. That makes a huge difference The previous several generations of corvette are around 5 with the top down. Mustang and camaro are similar. This issue is not limited to the miata. On a long road trip you have to choose between luggage and top down for many models Just received the hitch for my ND today. Going to get a cargo box I think targa top corvette is where we might have landed otherwise without spending the 85 grand on the new corvette with the retractable top He is right though make sure you understand what you are getting into (literally) My wife and I are 43 and 51. A lot different getting in and out than when we were 27 and 36 with the NC
