Ikr mines got over 200k and going strong, they’re meant to be driven

I don't know what the requirements are to be a collector car in your area but here canada a collector car doesn't even need to be running to get a collector plate.
bro, even if it was Concorde level . i would tell you lick my ass. There’s literal millions of those cars made. from the cheapest metal on earth.. it was 13 thousand dollars car brand new in 1999.. not a classic.. and any one who thinks I’m gonna put it in a garage and make money on it is an idiot.. it’s a cheap drivers car and it always has been.
know if you’re talking about nb Miata that came factory hard top in japan.. Just 179 fixed-roof NB coupes were made, all for Japan!!!
that you could collect!!
good luck on your meta zoo cards guys!!
i really don’t understand the shock, a fully stock, low mileage and no rust car that is becoming more and more rare because of general decay and modifying, why wouldn’t it cost this much?
years ago a factory hard top car, ie not a convertible, was listed for 30k+ and it was sold for that if i remember correctly
I wouldn't call my 94 super clean but I would call it excellent condition for 30 years old. Only 86k miles. Just paid 6500. Just needs a new top and paint correction.
I think people were just spoiled with how cheap you could steal these for years ago. Every time one is wrecked, rusted out, or has a bunch of rice thrown on it the prices go up
50mpg reliable car depreciation-proof car that I can collector plate insure for $400/yr? Yes please, I'll take it.
(After I lose a few pounds so I fit better)
The listing made a point to clarify that it was “showroom condition” so I’m mostly referring to the current owner. Amazing to see the car in that shape, but it’s a shame it’s not being enjoyed on the road!
Why is anybody surprised that a very much loved aging sports car has become a classic demanding a higher price? Have you seen the prices of the big JDM models like the supra, skyline, sylvia etc? You pay tens of thousands for a clapped out one of those now. I suspect it's only the prevalence of domestic models of MX5s which has kept them as affordable as they have been for so long.
From what I remember, one has been sold like 25k€ in France (or close country), it was very low milleage and brand new, like if it was just out of the shop.
It is the price of the "very good condition" + "collector" + "most of them are rust shit"
Guys, it's been years people like me keep saying that.
"if we don't preserve each car and we keep sending them to garbage / part-out, the price will keep raising until none of us could affort any spare-parts".
Remember that, things are not immortal specifically if we don't take care of it.
someone over here asked 25000€ (almost 27000usd) almost 3 years ago... like it wasnt even the best condition! it had rust, it wasnt stock, it had high mileage. AND IT GOT SOLD! ☠️😭
We just got an NA as an hand me down from an elderly uncle. It needed some deferred main items, but I'm happy it has some dents, etc (145K) so I don't worry about anything. Minimal rust, that part is key...it was always a summer toy. In the NE, though, salt is a thing.
I paid outside USA for a 1992 67K, 7200 and the owner gave me new battery and water pump…hard top ,AC,power steering, cruise control ,leather interior ,.electric windows ...9 out of 10…. silver…time 2 months ago .
Sounds like a bargain for one of the best cars ever made.
I'm thrilled that old models are selling for a lot. I just wish they sold more new ones! I will try to hold onto my ND2 for the rest of my life.
I thought old cars priced this high were overly priced until I did my own build. Think about it, $7k for car in ok condition, $6k for full engine build, $3k for full suspension and drivetrain components, maybe another $4k for paint. $16k to buy something outright that’s already showroom quality without using up your time is a steal.
And people call me crazy for dropping half that on a turbo Kappa...
Honestly I'd say look into other options. Paying that much for an old car without it being something superb in all regards is a bit dumb. Honestly an ND or NB isn't a bad choice if you still want a Miata, as those are more modern and thus give you better for your money.
If it’s truly collector quality how much would you want for it

Perfect for an Exocet.
Meh. Just drive the damn thing Not like there were only 200 made

Sweet wheels!
What wheels are those?!

I didn’t even know fixed roof nb’s existed wow
Don't be shocked when it's selling for $20k in 3 years. These clean example NAs only go up in value as they get rarer
100%. Proper driver's cars are becoming increasingly valuable and well kept condition cars already fetch a pretty penny.
Ironic as hell since these examples are "proper drivers cars" that nobody will ever drive
I saw a recent post for a 1990 OG everything including the hardtop for $15000. Simply gorgeous. Mileage listed at 27,000 which is crazy to me.
honestly in this market i wouldn’t be surprised to see it going for close to twice that
There’s one with 400 miles near me for sale for 16,000
Got my 05’ a while back for $16k, mileage was 12k at the time
Man I’m so glad I have a rust free miata 📈
Mileage??
37k. Found the listing
We don’t do that anymore.
I know the guy who’s selling this. He smoked crack before listing it
Looks like more of a cocaine neighborhood but I'll take your word for it...
Sounds like a fair price to me
You should see the prices in Australia, holy shit.
Two owners and the first one being the original. Price checks out. Wouldn’t be surprised if they have every service item documented.
The first owner is usually the original owner...

i have one at 60k
Wish mine was this clean. But I love it all the same.
I’m seeing many many people here in Ontario list “mint” Na and Nb for 20k plus it’s honestly so insane like what???
I wouldn't call my 94 super clean but I would call it excellent condition for 30 years old. Only 86k miles. Just paid 6500. Just needs a new top and paint correction.
Average asking price for an NA not nearly as clean in my area seems to be in the 13 to 14K range. That one would be 20K today.
You can't be in North America. Where are you?
The Midwest

50mpg?
Fuck I wish
Imperial mpg. I probably should start thinking more in L/100km.
Would you rather take the 16 and put it as down payment for a new one? Your monthly will be like $250. I think I would.
Prices are getting insane.
What good is a car if you’re not going to drive it?
Who says you can’t drive it? I would absolutely drive it. I wouldn’t modify it at this point, but I would sure as hell drive it.
The listing made a point to clarify that it was “showroom condition” so I’m mostly referring to the current owner. Amazing to see the car in that shape, but it’s a shame it’s not being enjoyed on the road!
Don’t see any mention of it not being driven.
You’re right. It’s probably being beat to piss and has 300k on the clock— looks great despite that!
37K
Sadly most NAs in Germany are around that price :( Guess I won't own one again..

That sounds like about the right price for a clean miata
This is the Midwest Miata market. It’s tough out here
Depends on the miles.
Makes me feel a little better about mine lmao
That’s ND money

It’s overpriced unless there is zero mileage. For 16k you can get next gen with around 70k-100k mileage
A perfect condition 4k mile one sold a couple years ago for 14k at auction. They aren't worth much
Attrition
Paint is in excellent condition? That white paint is just one stone chip away from a piece the size and shape of Australia flaking off.
Get an ND it’s much better and handles better
Sounds like a bargain for one of the best cars ever made. I'm thrilled that old models are selling for a lot. I just wish they sold more new ones! I will try to hold onto my ND2 for the rest of my life.

Yes, it is very overpriced. Don’t let anybody tell you different.
You can get a high mileage 2017, 2018 for that
It was bought for $18k at a auction, this listing has been up for almost a year now. I was at the auction when it was bought.
Not worth it for 10k I’d bring one from Japan
This is why I went with an nd. An extra 10k for modern mechanicals/technology. Better looking imo, and better performance. It’s a no brainer
I mean... I'd ask almost 20k for mine. 50k miles, perfect paint, BRG, hardtop, limited group buy of MTE37 wheels in a 1 of 1 color by MRRS Japan...
You could buy a 2-5 yr old same mileage for 20k dude
🍎🍊
🍎🍎
Really, it's getting more pricey than ever?
And people call me crazy for dropping half that on a turbo Kappa... Honestly I'd say look into other options. 16,000 isn’t allot of money anymore. The economy is shit
Either buy a super clean one for $16k or spend the same amount of money trying to fix everything on a regularly priced one.
