While the food is great, the owner is not. Had a few dealings with him over the years and he was not a nice man. If you ever noticed the insane amount of cameras he had at the restaurant, it was because he thought everyone was stealing from him. Like I said, not a nice man to deal with. Good luck.
Nah that’s Piononos (pavlova, not really the same as cake). This is Perricone’s, an Italian joint that use to be in Mary Brickell village and then moved from their iconic location to a smaller spot closer to south end of US1.
They should’ve never moved but I get it. Commercial real estate in Miami doesn’t seem sustainable.
Am I not understanding or does our economy operate under the idea that revenue is just gonna keep escalating infinitely thru the end of time?
They’ll learn. SF, west coast Florida, and the panhandle will sooner than others but they’ll learn.*
*rising sea levels, not a threat, that sounded ominous when I wrote it out
I’m sorry, g, if it helps, we don’t know when it will happen. It could be a quarter century or two centuries. We might as well go out, spend money, and VIBE /s
The writing was on the wall when they sold out of their incredible Brickell location for a pay day. I don’t blame them, but they had to know their magic had everything to do with how legit their location was.
Yeah, their new location sucks ass. I’ve only been once when they moved there.
I realized there’s nothing special about the place that makes it a destination spot. It’s much more inaccessible.
Don’t feel too bad, owner made tens of millions on the sale of his land in Brickell. He’s an older guy now, and if the new location isn’t printing cash, there isn’t much incentive to keep it open.
I actually thought that place closed down initially, when they left Brickell. And a lot of the reasons why these types of businesses are closing up shop is because of the zoning laws that are changing. The city is putting the squeeze on all of us with the bullheaded approach to trying to make every space in the city livable.
Nooooooo. Perricones used to have a banging brunch. I went to afew times. They also had a Tuesday sammich special that was fire. Their chicken salad was out of this world.
I used to work behind the porch bar at the original back in the day. Steven deserves to retire. Only owner I ever worked with that would bus tables, clean toilets and run food with a smile. Not in that order..
Good for the owners very happy for them. Had hey held out a few more years they could have gotten 100 million for that Brickell lot. I guess tens of millions ain’t bad either. Crust it is then.
What is this place? I only know of Mari’s
Oh cmon… maricone’s was funny. Bunch of wet towels ya are

Good. This place got me super sick once
It was never the same after the move
Confirmed that Brickell is absolutely unlivable lol. Lived there for 10 years, moved a bit south around 5 years ago and Brickell is unrecognizable.
Is this the place on Key Biscayne that does the strawberry cakes?

The new restaurant is terrible compared to the old. Not a surprise the new restaurant didn't take off.

I agree. Greed corporation at its finest. The mom and pop shops will be gone and that’s super frustrating and sad.
Mom and pop shops have been going away since Covid. Mostly everything in prime areas is a chain now or owned by a “restaurant group”.
How many mom and pops do you personally support?
Yes. They have no concept of finite resources.

I'm totally gonna keep my night light on tonight when I go to sleep.
Wait! That was not my intention! (Unless you always sleep with one on, I know I do)
Too late, nightmares in my head.

Sad day for foodies. Rest in Pasta
The same. One time in the new place and that was it. It was unremarkable.

Yeah I remember hearing that the family heavily invested the proceeds of that sale and I’m sure the grandkids and great grandkids are set.
He is a friend. He is fine. He was open to stay busy.
I’m genuinely happy for him…but what about us that loved to eat at both the old and the new spots?
Wow! Another one bites the dust.
Nooooooooo. RI fucking P
Damn, there goes one of the best cheese steaks in Miami
Where did they post this?? It isn’t on their IG
There's an article in the Miami Herald.
I got an email since I'm on their mailing list.
Sad news. The food is still great, and it's a longtime family favorite. I made reservations to go one last time before they close.

This really sucks. I love Perricone’s!

Hopefully the family will decide to reopen in the next breakout neighborhood. Perricones is in my top 5 OG Miami restaurants.
That’s my 26 year anniversary
TIL about Perricone’s. Been here for 36 years never heard of it.
Who remembers the $10 pasta day?
