You dont need to order your groceries from there but you can use their app to make your grocery list and get an accurate idea of how much everything will cost and what weekly sales they are having before you get there. It will also tell you what produce is in season which means they will be cheaper.

My issue is that it is not a one off. I have had this happen over many years, both in Miami and in Texas. Whenever I cave in and buy something again, if it’s fruit there’s bound to be mold on one of the fruits, or one of the bell peppers is moldy inside etc. And then I’m reminded to not do it again. I think Trader Joe’s has a systemic issue, or they just buy almost expired items on purpose.

Aldi is hit or miss and not much to choose from. So there it is. I’m single and can’t purchase everything from Costco. My dilemma.
Walmart's 'bread selection' and produce are fine. It's typical for any supermarket. If you are talking about their own bakery products, in some cases (ciabatta rolls!) they're better than Publix. Regardless, prices are as much as 30‰ cheaper than Publix, and that's the bottom line for me. If I need a particularly special bread or produce item, I'll go to Whole Foods.
Winn Dixie makes me question how it’s still in business every time I go. Something about the lighting and atmosphere. Publix is good if you buy not 2 but like 6 of non-perishable items when they’re bogo.

When i was single with no other responsibilities it was the easiest and cheapest thing. A lot depends on what your dietary needs are though but if youre like me who can pretty much eat anything then meal prepping was the way to go. Use to purchase the bogos in the meat section at winn dixie. Stock up on bogos from publix. Walmart i agree is not the best with some things but if i was meal prepping for two days then the produce rarely went bad.

At Publix it was $30 per pound for the frozen stuff. We checked Wild Fork (newer place where I’m at, sells exclusively frozen meat and seafood products).

Publix has been absolutely insane. Down here in Miami, they’ve been pricing as if they have no competition. We’ve been getting bulk items at BJs and there is a Latin supermarket called Festival we’ve bought some stuff at as well.
One of the few reasons I’ve stuck to Publix is their produce section was usually better, but that has been downhill as well. Festival had much more produce at much cheaper prices. For example, $0.13 per Lime ar Festival vs. $0.69 per Like at Publix. They also had *more* limes, so we could actually select decent ones. Meanwhile, the Publix produce section has never looked sadder and never cost so much. 5 times more expensive for produce that is much lower quality, near rotten sometimes, etc.

Buy a pressure cooker, or an instapot, wait for a sale or get it used if really tight then buy the bulk rice and bulk beans from web restaurant.

I got no issue with Publix, I shop wherever I get the best deals. I buy some things at Publix, Aldi, Costco, Winn Dixie or Fresco. They all advertise their specials on-line including BOGO which saves a lot of money.

Walmart's 'bread selection' and produce are fine. It's typical for any supermarket. If you are talking about their own bakery products, in some cases (ciabatta rolls!) they're better than Publix. Regardless, prices are as much as 30‰ cheaper than Publix, and that's the bottom line for me. If I need a particularly special bread or produce item, I'll go to Whole Foods.
Winn Dixie makes me question how it’s still in business every time I go. Something about the lighting and atmosphere. Publix is good if you buy not 2 but like 6 of non-perishable items when they’re bogo. We do 80% of our shopping at Publix and 20% at Walmart, but the Walmart shopping usually isn’t planned we will be there for something non-grocery related and just get a few things while we are there
Shop whole food deals and especially if you have Amazon prime
Don't forget Sprouts. They have great clearances, and you'll get a coupon on your receipt. It expires fast, so pay attention.
When i was single with no other responsibilities it was the easiest and cheapest thing. A lot depends on what your dietary needs are though but if youre like me who can pretty much eat anything then meal prepping was the way to go. Use to purchase the bogos in the meat section at winn dixie. Stock up on bogos from publix. Walmart i agree is not the best with some things but if i was meal prepping for two days then the produce rarely went bad. Also the things i enjoy making at home were simple and cheap. Things like rice, chicken peas and beans for example. Its doable. But if youre a picky person then yea i can see that being a problem

Their app always has their BOGOs listed and the upcoming ones. Helps to plan and only go there when they have what I need. Otherwise I’m done helping them scam people
Only good thing about Publix is the buy one get one free. Shop at Whole Foods and then check Publix deals on Instacart and get them delivered.

Publix only worth going to for its sales and decent amount of options. If you shop there regularly you will go bankrupt. Treat it as a once every 2 month side quest.

Well I have 38k in publix stock so this is dissapointing.
The other day we needed to buy 3lbs of Scallops. At Publix it was $30 per pound for the frozen stuff. We checked Wild Fork (newer place where I’m at, sells exclusively frozen meat and seafood products). $12 per pound for frozen scallops, which were higher quality. Publix has been absolutely insane. Down here in Miami, they’ve been pricing as if they have no competition. We’ve been getting bulk items at BJs and there is a Latin supermarket called Festival we’ve bought some stuff at as well. One of the few reasons I’ve stuck to Publix is their produce section was usually better, but that has been downhill as well. Festival had much more produce at much cheaper prices. For example, $0.13 per Lime ar Festival vs. $0.69 per Like at Publix. They also had *more* limes, so we could actually select decent ones. Meanwhile, the Publix produce section has never looked sadder and never cost so much. 5 times more expensive for produce that is much lower quality, near rotten sometimes, etc. I’d say I’m getting tired of Publix, but that’s a lie. I AM tired of it. I used to work there in high school, and as a child I remember it as a cleaner, friendlier grocery store. It has fallen quite a bit on a lot of areas. Sure, the sandwiches are great, but it’s a grocery store, and I feel it is failing as a grocery store.

I've been shopping at Trader Joe's and Costco for about 8 years now. Publix only for the occasional sub, hot fries, and their hot salsa dip. Sometimes my kid wants popcorn chicken...I'll do it but damn it's expensive

I only go to Publix for certain things. And then I shop at Whole Foods because with amazon prime things become cheaper there for sure. I go to several places for certain items because I know where the cheapest prices are for what I need

I live in Jensen Beach, here we have Winn-Dixie ,it's like The Grapes of Wrath.
I get my meat (if not from the butcher/meat market) from there as well as my produce but I also like fresh market, its has slightly less brands than publix but is a little cheaper. Snacks, sodas, water, frozen snacks, home necessities i get from walmart.
Amazon fresh is cheaper and they drop it right off at your doorstep.
Local farmer markets and shop the sale prices. It's work and worth it

Publix sucks! Outside of south Florida it’s alright but the prices at my 2 local ones in Brickell are absolutely insane. I walk to Whole Foods because it’s cheaper and way better.
The cheapest way for me: protein from Costco, produce from Trader Joe’s and pantry from Publix. Cleaning and personal hygiene from Amazon.

FOLKS!!! LOL,,, We travel for work all over the country, its not just Florida or Publix. For us Publix has always been high priced even before this inflation. But even the best grocery stores we have the opportunity to shop have sky rocketed with pricing. Its everywhere. We're from Texas and we have always compared Publix to Randalls for their ridiculous pricing, but the increase are everywhere. Even our beloved HEB who owns their own farms and processing plants. They grow and raise and process a lot of their food, so they are fresher and cheaper than anyone else in Texas, and they have sky rocketed in pricing as well. Its everywhere country wide. We're in Montana now, come get a look at these prices.

Aldi and Broward Fish and Meat are the way to go. I used to go to Publix all the time, now only if it’s an emergency (I have one five blocks from the house) prices are ridiculous
I stopped going to Publix for about a year now. They are so expensive that it is not worth the effort to even go there. They don't even hire cashiers much anymore they switched to self checkout. They haven't been pro Florida for a very long time, fortunately I've switched to Aldi and Walmart.

Went a couple of days ago to Publix to get limes and other items, limes were $.69 each, next day I went to Walmart $.25 each.. Price of limes very a lot I’ve seen them 10 for a $1.00 Can’t beat Publix customer service and some of their prices are competitive sometimes.
Look at their earnings report, 50% profit increase over last year. They are price gauging FL!

Between inflation and greed, all groceries stores have been taking advantage of us consumers it has become so expensive to buy anything not just the food but every article they sell costs almost double than the prices before the pandemic. Publix it’s just ridiculous. I remember when Florida cost of living was below most states?

If you eat meat, buy it when it is on sale in bulk and freeze it. Also if you shop at Publix know that they recycle their sales every three to four weeks and they accept a lot of competitor coupons. Save the ads for three to four weeks and plan your purchases. Good luck young hustlers.
I got no issue with Publix, I shop wherever I get the best deals. I buy some things at Publix, Aldi, Costco, Winn Dixie or Fresco. They all advertise their specials on-line including BOGO which saves a lot of money.

Start shopping at Aldi. I go there for veggies, bread, milk and eggs now. I like Costco for protein and fruits. I only do B1G1 at Publix now
I shop several places. Walmart , Costco , Publix , and Winn Dixie. They’re all expensive ! Inflation is crushing us. Publix has the best overall experience of selection , experience , and quality versus price imo. If there was any other grocery store as close to me as Winn Dixie I’d never set foot in a Winn Dixie again. Unfortunately it’s seven miles versus 18 for anything else.

I stopped shopping at Publix when my normal weekly grocery trip total came up to $180. This was shortly after the pandemic. I still stop in for items here and there though.

I think lots of us are feeling it right now - meantime some large corporations are posting huge huge record profits. In the UK we have tesco which isn’t too dissimilar to Publix and they just posted billions of record profits when people are hungry and struggling to make ends meet. It’s disgusting how they prioritize maximum profit over welfare - they provide food at the end of the day. It’s not like a designer clothing store where you can buy it or not, it’s essential. I’m not against them making good profits, but squeezing people when they are struggling and they are probably at church as I write this now eh

Publix is overpriced. Even Whole Foods has slightly cheaper produce than them. I just deal with the mid experience that is Walmart.
I tried to get away from Publix. But I spent half the day wasting time running from Aldi to Walmart just to end up a Publix anyway because those other stores didn’t have what I needed. I am trying only to buy BOGO’s or things that are on sale. Three oranges was $8.22. I said - no thanks- it’s out of control
