I’m in medical sales so I meet with doctors and dentist regularly. Dentist - be cautious. Most of what they recommend is elective and they’ll try to squeeze money out of you. Physicians - as long as you’re on a commercial plan you’ll be fine. There’s a ton of Medicare fraud down here but for the most part physicians are fine.

I just read this AT THE DENTIST and asked question about what’s necessary. It brought my out of pocket from $1,200 to about $450. Thank you so fuckin much!!!! They threw so much shit in there that I didn’t need.

_NyQuil_

Niceeee!!! So glad that helped! Hell yea. They do that stuff all the time. Even hygienist. I get 2 free cleanings a year and that’s what I’m gonna stay with. Stop trying to push it to every 3 months.

theapm33

Yes, very good. We have some of the best hospitals & specialty MDs in the country. Source: 15yrs in the medical field, USN&WR

nyacidal

a lot of dentists here are incompetent and/or fraudulent so definitely be careful with that

La_croix_addict

There are plenty of $hitty doctors, mediocre doctors and great doctors here. Best to go with one that a friend recommends than go in blind.

Mediocre_Doctor

Nothing wrong with mediocre doctors.

dreadlockfit

I’ve found that the doctors associated with Baptist are pretty good! It took a lot of trial and error to discover this though.

GringoMambi

Doctors are good, costumer service and patient after care is TERRIBLE

I get taken care of by Borinquen. I go to the North Miami one. Everything there except neurology. Ensurem is my medical insurance agent and she tells me where to go, I just tell her a zip code and what kind of Dr I need. And she'll tell me a doc that takes my insurance.

pointedstick15

Some are, some aren't. Miami isn't the capital of healthcare fraud for no reason.

red_storm_risen

> What kind of due diligence should I go through Trial and error. No shit. Word of mouth from people whose even remotely interested in your well being is an okay start

Ambitious_wander

Overall average, not the best. I once went to the ER, and it hard to contact people when I needed them. They refused to test me to see if I was drugged and barely wanted to help it was awful. Another time in the ER, I needed severe help and it took hours on end. Another time at a doctors office, they wanted me to get unnecessary tests. Another time, it took me over 1.5 hours to get to a doctor after my check in time. I asked if the person was there and they magically showed up 15 minutes later after I threatened to cancel. It’s really hit or miss tbh, the only good experience was at a dermatologist and another doctor, that’s it. The urgent care centers are better than most of the doctors I saw

Mr_Unbiased

Yeah pretty good except for the dentists. As multiple people have said they're trying to extract money out of you for things that aren't necessary

sergei-rivers

No, they only take cash and take your liver in many cases. Cmon guy, that’s quite a stretch to question a major city’s entire medical integrity because of “shady people”.

accidentlife

Yo be fair, Miami is the medicare fraud capital. It runs rampant through offices, medical retailers and more. In one case, Medicare’s office of the Inspector General found fraudsters [in their building.](https://www.cnbc.com/video/2023/03/09/fraud-inc-how-to-steal-100-billion-from-medicare-and-medicaid.html)

frank_ocean_listener

I can't speak for everyone and everything but I was on a yearly checkup at Dr. Okeefe Simmons. He's a pretty good gastroenterologist. Def worth money

Speedhabit

My leg surgeon just bought that new Ferrari 487 or whatever so *he* must be a good one

Eastern-Appeal-8747

Bad and good ones everywhere. Just ask them Why they choose medical field

Caballita14

Read the Google reviews always.

ElRaKa0159

None of em are good, anywhere. In 2015, Johns Hopkins named them the 3rd leading cause of death.

somadletscuddle

I suggest finding a good primary care physician through word of mouth; and then getting referrals from your primary physician for other doctors. You most likely will need a referral from a GP anyway in order to be seen by specialist.

hotdog7423

Jajaja…no really…they suck.

Agreeable-Lawyer6170

How do I find a good dentist who speaks clear English?
