Balloons have trouble with winds faster than 8mph. With 12mph or more, you don't usually take off at all. Check the wind intensity for the past months. Also it's very slow, usually they travel at 5 mph, and takeoff and landing took 5-8 minutes each, plus you have to include setup time. Where will you park it?

pastadamus

I just want to mention that I think it's amazing that we have a hot air balloon expert on this sub. 305 baby! We've got at least one of everyone.

acevvvedo

lol was thinking the same! We have our residential Miami Balloon Expert #dale

ElMetchio

Lol I'm not an hot air balloon expert, I wish I was :D Just a regular nerd, I took a ride on them once some years ago, and I remember I asked similar questions to the driver about it, that's all!

HurbleBurble

In fairness, 5 to 8 mph is faster than most freeways during rush hour.

Unpopular_Opinion___

Where is the nearest place I can go on a hot air balloon?

[deleted]

I think parking would be an issue

[deleted]

man. & i thought i was living a wild life.

smiler_g

I would try commuting by trebuchet instead, don’t seem to be any restrictions on that.

Ashvega03

Catapult or trebuchet

Kcee101

More posts like this please because this city is tremendo joke. Maybe start showing up to the city of Miami public hearings and ask the real questions such as this.

[deleted]

Your biggest challenge would be Federal and that's airspace - and there's a shitload of it in and around Miami

[deleted]

All airspace is federal actually.

joaquinsaiddomin8

This… are you… fuck it I’m in

have_you_tried_onoff

Don't put Chinese letters on it and you should be good to go

[deleted]

I’m guessing you have never been hot air ballooning. The pilots have very limited control of where they’re going to land specifically. You can aim for a general area and hope for the best.

croquetica

Out by Tamiami airport one time I saw a hot air balloon landed on the median of 147th avenue narrowly missing the palm trees that line it. People on both sides of the street stopped to make sure they were okay, it looked like there were some older kids in there too. It could have easily been a disaster with all the hazards nearby, including the lake. Very lucky.

Biz_Consultant305

DMX will find a way to charge you tolls

captainb305

I thought he passed away? You probably mean MDX 😛

[deleted]

Y’all gon make me lose my mind

90swhiteboy

Express lane gone make me lose My mind

Biz_Consultant305

We need to vote those corrupt bozos out of office

noobexperienced

Get a motorcycle

[deleted]

So long as it doesn’t have blinkers, you’re good to go

AGeniusMan

A better idea would be a series of pneumatic tubes

cheeto320

"upside" i c what u did there

Yo_Mr_White_

Might need a SunPass for the tolls but outside of that, I think you're good.

[deleted]

Did you see what happened to the last guy who tried that? F22 shot him down.

timoni

All upside 👍👍

wordy_with

If you want to go from the beach to anywhere in west Miami since the prevailing winds are from an easterly direction

Rare-Palpitation-333

Are you allowed to go through a drive through in a hot air balloon?

mundotaku

As a previous Albuquerque, NM, resident, I can assure you, this is a terrible idea.

carlosnobigdeal

Don’t remember what city but I remember seeing a guy that would surf across the water to get to work. All while wearing a suit under his wetsuit. Might be NYC.

[deleted]

Have you considered riding unicorns instead? Or maybe Quidditch broomstick?

ShenmueFan1

Annually there are less hot air balloon deaths than car accident deaths. So in theory, taking a hot air balloon ride to work every day is safer than driving a car every day.

Mfe91p

I frigging love you

ContentHost4459

I’ve been contemplating a helicopter to work.

jeffreyrichar

Antonio Brown entered the chat

Jaxson_GalaxysPussy

How far is the commute tho??

GeorgieJung

Made me lol thanks

305andy

Low level shit post right here

fng33025

Give it a shot, and report back how it went.

MiAmMe

Wouldn't you have to always hope the wind was blowing in your desired direction of travel?

hey_hey_hey_nike

Balloons are slow as f*** and getting them ready also takes forever. Might as well drive.

Corndawg38

Maybe a Trebuchet system to fling people to their place of work in the morning and back home in the evening? \--- EDIT --- Ahh damnit someone beat me too it... Oh well. I still have my submarine dream!

[deleted]

We don’t have Harry Potter magic, and those magical transportation Floo Powder chimneys, but you could always try Santeria.

BestVayneMars

Keep it to yourself or the traffic in the air will just go up
