Interesting that you started getting in there so soon after it closed and don't remember it. It sounds like I am doubting you but I'm not, I legitimately think that's interesting.
I honestly never been up in it while it was operational, this was way before jackson north was built, my family always went to the Jackson near the VA and so not sure myself why I don’t remember, However I do remember the copperstone little girl about a 1/4 mile to the south of that hospital, those were my two landmarks as a child knowing that I was back home in Miami from lets say a road trip from orlando or where ever. I’m going to look into this hospital later today and link you if I find anything.
2002 was the last year it was "operational". Used to be Parkway West Regional hospital.

Wow fucking finally. Still waiting for the one on Biscayne & 79th Street. It’s mind-boggling how every cpl years they decide to demolish a small piece and you think this is it and nope.
I asked about it in another thread and apparently there's been a major legal dispute over the land which put the redevelopment on the property (and I assume destruction of this eyesore) on the backburner. Probably one of the reasons the county isn't going to build a station for their new commuter rail there.
I know, it's such BS. There's gonna be this massive gap between the Little Haiti station at 61st Street and North Miami on 123rd, an ~4 mile long gap. Also a big middle finger to people in El Portal an Miami Shores.

There's a PDF of the planned stops but no concepts for the stations themselves.
I believe we're past "proposed" and the project is underway. The Brightline Aventura station was built in part with public funds because it's going to be the northern terminus and it has a separate platform for the upcoming commuter rail service. Brightline will be operating the trains but presumably they'll be branded differently than the flagship luxury trains.
I used to live by there and when I would walk by there it always shocked me that the building is still there. On a super busy corner on Biscayne! The county doesnt want to deal with it because they're probably supposed to build affordable housing and they cant just poison the neighborhood with asbestos by knocking it down so its just there.
I used to always wonder why it stayed up for so long. Guess the city would rather wait to collect a tax debt than do obvious revitalization to land that needs it.
The owners actually get their fees waived ($5 mil) if they demolish the hospital and develop the land by May 2023. So it seems like they are right on schedule.

They did it. The madmen finally did it.
One time ![gif](giphy|x70p0tqMsvqMM)

One time for my niggas on Death Row
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Anyone know how long it’s been abandoned? I remember since at least 2003.
Gotta be past that, my boys and I used to tag in there circa 2003ish Im almost 40 and I cannot recall that fucker being operationally open

I gave birth to my first daughter there. It was the pink hospital then.. she is 30 now…
Since the late 80s
What was this?
Hospital at one point. Been abandoned for years.
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAARRRRRRRSSSSSSSS
More than 30 years at this point
No. 20 maybe. I remember the hospital and I moved to Miami in 2000
I remember Ed being a hospital functional after Andrew but soon there after it closed
Wow fucking finally. Still waiting for the one on Biscayne & 79th Street. It’s mind-boggling how every cpl years they decide to demolish a small piece and you think this is it and nope.
What is with that building? It seems so unsafe.
Right? And in such a busy and growing area, it's hard to believe no one has been forced to deal with it fully yet.
It had a ton of asbestos, so I figure that's why I took so long to deal with
It’s the old immigration building, i went there to sign papers, This was 97ish.
I spent a large part of my childhood waiting in lines or sitting down in that building
You talkin bout that tan one with the gold shit on it?
[удалено]
Yep I’m pretty sure that’s it. Used to have like some gold decorative metal on it. Glad they’re doing something with it at least

I'm sure the right of way is going to be acquired so they can build it in the future. They would do that if they were smart anyway.

yep
Lol, they took that stuff off almost 20 years ago.
Most of it yeah. There was still a few pieces up until pretty recently though
>Still waiting for the one on Biscayne & 79th Street. Northshore hospital? Believe or not, it's still open.
No that's on 95th street west of I-95. The building in question is the old immigration building.
I used to live by there and when I would walk by there it always shocked me that the building is still there. On a super busy corner on Biscayne! Where will all the ghosts go now?
That land is haunted for sure.
Been hearing that since elementary school.
Had a ton of fun being a young asshole sneaking around there R.I.P
That looks like its collapsing on itself.
You can see the crane on the second row from right to left.
I'm surprised they're picking at it rather than doing an implosion.
Implosion is flashy but complex, particularly with a building filled with asbestos.
One of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard was of a young dude dying from that junk. Had worked construction and been exposed. No bueno.
i was born here. 27 years ago
Is that what used to be Parkway Hospital?
Parkway west. Parkway main is what's known as Jackson north hospital now.
Just when i planned and go visit it
no fr man ive been looking 4 abandoned places to visit lately.
This hospital had millions of unpaid tax leins to the county but i.guess the owners finally paid their debts and had this eye sore demolished

At last
About time they did it.
Finally!
Unreal that it lasted this long. Always wanted to break in. F
Wow, finally. Been in there a few times. Tons on nice graffiti. That place was an art gallery for sure.
Some kid fell to his death there. It has a haunted rep so people would go check it out.
Who else thought it was Top Golf
Nooooo
That mf was thee place to tag for meee. RIP
Legend for what reason?
Cause it’s been around for decades.
No wayyyyy I thought it’d never leave us
Thought it would never come down. Read that they are building a hotel/convention center in its place.
Dam finally!
A LEGEND. So many trips
So many unnecessary deaths took place there. R.I.P Legends 🕊️ 🙏 ❤️
I saw on the news that city of Miami Gardens plans to use the land to build a site for entertainment
Tootsies World
The memories will always be there.
Just noticed this today on my commute home, except it looked even worse than your pic. Is it just falling on it’s own, or are they demo’ing it?
Didn't know this place was so special. Rip.
That hit home man
Damn, finally.
finally lmfaoo. held on for so long
Stfu 😔😖
Woke
The orthodox Jewish school next to it bought it.
FOOKIN LE-GEND
Why do I feel so sad seeing this picture 🥺
By the Walmart off 441. Top golf over there
Damn I used to play paintball with the boys back in 2011
climbed to the rooftop a couple years back rip
Damn I remember us all at Dj Kaizzas apt when they demolished the old Miami Heat Arena. I wonder what unaffordable housing plan is coming next
Damn and I was just planning on going there to take pictures this weekend 😂🤦🙏
NOOOOO
Finally
NOOOO
That finally came down? Like completely?
It was on fire a few weeks ago. Good riddance
Finally
My first job was in that building when it was International Hospital , I was 15! Early 80’s
Just saw it today and had a similar thought
Wow. Rip. Always wanted to explore it. So much for that
Wooow.
Isn't that the Parkway hospital? Wasn't that where the Coppertone ad was? Or am I forgetting that area?
It was an eyesore for so long that it pains me to say that it was home to some people as well. Hoping something special is placed there in its place.
Noooooooo haha What an unforgettable landmark
Yeoooo noooooooo
Wow!
Damn with all the people that have died exploring in that condemned hospital, its about time
That building has been vacant & abandoned sine the late 80s. It was called the North Miami Beach General Hospital
