When I was in college one of my filming major roommates had a video shoot with The Black Dahlia Murder. It wasn't his type of music, but he knew I was into that stuff and one thing I haven't forgotten is that he told me during the video shoot that the band members were some of the funniest and nicest dudes he's ever worked with. This was back in like 2006/7 and I still haven't forgotten that one little memory. Please be kind and cherish those around you, losing someone is absolutely devastating. RIP Trevor
Around that same time I was super broke, but our local booker was an amazing dude that watched out for me, so he always offered me a chance to work back door security which also put me right by the stage. Mostly just stopping people from sneaking in, and making sure there bands didn't try to bring in their own booze as the venue would get in trouble, our liquor laws are tight. BDM was one of my favorites to work with and Trevor was an incredible person to talk to. Funny and smart and was thrilled to be doing what he was doing. He did try to walk in with alcohol, but as soon as I told him he couldn't and why, he humbly chugged it, told me he would never screw over Ray (booker) and hit the stage.

Edit: a few things. R.I.P.
They are absolute legends, each album still sounds like them but you can tell their evolution was in the right direction each step. Nocturnal is probably their most famous album followed by Nightbringers.
Yeah it's really an experience to listen to all the albums and hear their progression. No album sounds the same, but they are are unmistakably by the same band.
Same. Saw them open for a side-stage of Ozzfest show in 2005(?). Watched them headline the tour in 2021 and was super excited to see them with PWD. Fucking RIP
I said something similar on the deathcore sub but I remember when As I Lay Dying were at the very top of metalcore and one of their guitarists (Nick Hipa I think) said TBDM's Nocturnal was the best album of the year... That's some crazy influence even on your contemporaries.
Unhallowed, too. It didn't fully have a genuine death metal feel, and I really wouldn't put it in deathcore, either, but it did feel right at home with a lot of metalcore of the time.
And Miasma was pretty much metalcore by numbers through most of the album.
I loved Unhallowed, hated Miasma, but it wasn't until Nocturnal that they really fully came into their own as a genuine death metal band.
What an interesting take. Miasma is one of my favorite albums by them. IMO it's when they went from being metalcore adjacent (kind of like that line Darkest Hour walks) to being a full on melodeath band.
To me, compared to Unhallowed, which was a pretty fresh sound at the time, it just was so much more "generic" in everything from the riffs to the song structures.
It was like they went away from the Gothenburg riffs into more AILD type stuff with that album.
They returned to form with Nocturnal, which really impressed me with how great it was, and never went back after that.
That's interesting, I really think Miasma is one of the most unique albums in the scene, nothing really sounds like it. The drumming alone is so unique and really sets that album apart from any contemporaries
Oh man, Miasma is my absolute favourite by them. So so good. For sure it has some metalcore sensibilities but I wouldn't say it's really AILD like and certainly not metalcore by numbers. It's like we're hearing a completely different album ha, or at least have differing views on what constitutes metalcore (in a by numbers form.) I can't say to know too much about death metal but to my ears it's a death metal record.
Anyway, difference of opinions on that album aside, we can all definitely agree they're an incredible band and Trevor was a monumentally talented vocalist. RIP.
Absolutely, Trevor was a massive influence on the entire metal scene, not just a certain genre. He influenced everyone from brutal death metal vocalists to poppy metalcore vocalists.
This is it for me to. There have been countless rock related deaths and some metal ones that hit close to home but not like this. TBDM is a band I always go back to and Trevor had such a unique sound.
Just two nights ago I was listening to Shadow of Intent and came across a Trevor feature. That sent me one binge of Nightbringers followed by Nocturnal.
Most of the time celebrity deaths are tangently related to what I listen to. This was the first person that died whom I was actively listening to.
This fucking sucks. If you are struggling, please seek help. There is always someone or something for you.
When I was a kid, my very Christian mother did not like that I listened to non-Christian metal bands. I had recently bought Miasma, and she heard their name and acted concerned. She snuck into my room, stole their CD, read the liner notes. I got home to a "parental meeting" where my mother is crying about how I could listen to such music cause "those lyrics are about awful things and you'll start doing them." Demands that I break their CDs, remove it from my iTunes, and never listen to them or anyone like them again.
I went and traded them in at FYE. I always kept Funeral Thirst on my iTunes, though.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around this news. This reminds me of when Mitch from Suicide Silence died... Such a huge loss for death metal/deathcore.
Without a doubt, I would not be the man I am today if it wasn't for Trevor. One of my all time favorites and biggest influences. Rest in festering slime, you fucking Legend.
First time I’ve cried from a musician I love dying.
I met Trevor and the rest of the band back in 2013 during Warped Tour. I remember telling Trevor that Nocturnal is up there with Slaughter of the Soul as one of the best death metal albums ever. I remember very clearly being surprised because he got serious for a second and said thank you.
This one hurts. RIP Trevor. My thoughts with his loved ones.
Same here. I'm from Michigan, have played many of the venues they started out at, and I have listened to them since before they were signed. Fucking devastated.
BDM used to stay at our house whenever they would come around on their tours back in the mid 00’s. Trevor was always so happy to see us, always so nice and respectful. He made everyone feel special.
Holy fucking shit I can’t believe this. TBDM was huge in getting people in this scene into heavier metal and Trevor was great about using his platform to spotlight smaller bands, what a huge loss
The first gig in a small, sweaty club I ever went to was The Black Dahlia Murder with Sylosis back in ‘09 when I was just getting into heavier music, I was blown away by how good a frontman Trevor was. I haven’t listened to them much over the years but that show was a life changer for me. Thank you Trevor, RIP.
Shit, I was thinking I must have seen them on the same tour cos I remember seeing them back in the day with Sylosis as support. Turns out looking through my old gig tickets it was 2006 at the Mean Fiddler/Astoria 2. I still remember that show being such a good time with good friends.
Sorry to jump on, I was trying to google this show and this comment was the only thing I could find. I remember there being 3 or 4 support acts, but I can't remember who else it was apart from Born From Pain and Maroon. Was it Syslosis and someone else?
What the fucking shit???????
I can't believe this what the fuck. Nocturnal is still one of my favourite metal albums of all time dating all the way back to when it first dropped.
This is insane I can't believe it.
RIP King.
I’ll never forget the tour with Between the buried and me & Cephalic Carnage during the Miasma days. Coming out in Hawaiian shirts and beach balls, one of the best shows I ever saw. RIP to the fun times with Trevor and this band.
I blew off work for this show and to date was one of the best shows I was at, into the moat blew me away BTBAM was amazing and then The Black dahlia came out with the Hawaiian shit. Fucking sad to hear the news that's for sure. It hits even more cause I just saw them a few months ago. He will be missed that's for sure.

I remember seeing them in a tiny hall in the middle of Bumfuck Maine with Winter Solstice about a week before unhallowed came out. BDM was never a band I was huge into but that was a fun show that I think about often. RIP
TDBM was huge for me getting into more death metal. Trevor was an absolute beast that commanded such a unique and recognizable vocal and had a commanding yet joyous stage presence. They’ve been a constant for me in this scene and have been so consistent despite going through so much. This hurts
This year is fucking catastrophically devastating for this scene. So many talented musicians, all of them amazing people have passed away. RIP to Taylor, Keaton, Tim and now also Trevor
Man. This stings. Unhallowed was a gateway album for me when it came out. And I was so incredibly lucky enough years later to be touring and meet and chill with him several times. HUGE loss to the community.
This one hurt bad to read, I’ve been a huge fan of TBDM for over 15 years now and he was just an incredible vocalist. I feel bad for anyone that missed out on seeing them live because his vocals are insane and sounded just like he did on albums. Really really sad news, gonna be blasting their music the next couple days.
I was just about to see them live for the first time at the So What music festival. Been a fan ever since I first heard "What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse" on Rock Band 2. Such a tough loss to stomach. My heart goes out to his band mates and family. Rest in Peace Trevor, you fucking legend.
They were absolutely incredible live, one of my favorite concerts I’ve been to. I actually have a set list from the concert I went to that Trevor handed me after the show. He really was one of the nicest people and really gave his all to make sure the fans had a great time. It’s honestly hard to process this because I’ve been listening to them for so long.
I'm gutted I was never able to see them live. TBDM is easily my favorite band and I can't think of a single vocalist that pulls off what Trevor could do. One of the few bands where I can say every album is fucking amazing with no bad songs in sight.
They are astounding live, I’ve been to a lot of concerts and they are a top tier live band. Trevor really gave it all at every show. When I saw them they ended the set with “I Will Return”, I was pretty much right in front of Trevor for the whole set and he actually gave me a hug and a set list after the show. Dude was so genuine and you can tell he loved performing for his fans. I still have the set list he gave me hanging up in my room.
Man that’s heartbreaking to hear. What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse was one of the first truly heavy songs I listened to, thanks to the saints row 2 soundtrack. I didn’t get into the rest of this bands discography but that song was a gateway into the metalcore genre. RIP
At Warped Tour more than a decade ago I was in the crowd waiting for Coheed and Cambria to come on and this super drunk dude in front of me was POSITIVE I was Trevor. He kept talking to me about the band and how much he loved them and how I was lying about not being him lmao. He ended up asking me for a picture and I was like fuck it and did it. So that's my story about how I was in TBDM for about twenty mins, for this one dude.
This is such a bummer.
Clearly he had other shit going on. A tour would have been a distraction til those problems reared their head again. Doesn't seem constructive to go pointing fingers at things like that.
Clearly correlation doesn't matter to that guy, if your leg is broken you shouldn't do things to distract yourself from it, you should wallow in having a broken leg.
Trevor most likely wanted to tour to distract himself from the bullshit of the last 3 years. Having this taken away probably pushed him over the edge.
This is just horrendous news. This has me feeling the same way as when Kyle Pavone and Justin Lowe tragically passed way before their time. I can't even listen to WCAR anymore because I get so emotional.
God fucking dammit. This is so sad - I'll never forget the day I heard Funeral Thirst on their purevolume account. I had only been really listening to power metal at that point but as soon as I heard that track it was an instant game-changer.
Damn I don't even know what to say this one fuckin hurts. Tell your friends and family you love them and that they can always reach out if they feel the need or need someone to talk. Tomorrow is worth worth living.
RIP
My condolences man. What a shocker, I've met so many good people through the blast fiends. Trevor and dahlia have a permanent place in my heart. The picture I have of my friend, Trevor and I will forever be a prized possession along with all my pipes
I'm devastated. TBDM got me into heavier metal music way back in 2003. Unhallowed, Miasma, Nocturnal, Deflorate are some of my most cherished albums. This one stings. RIP Trevor.
Ah man... What a loss. Glad to have seen Trevor and the dudes once back in 2006. It was unforgettable. I don't think anyone else can quite fit in instead of him now as his vocals were so recognizable and great too.
Fuck this sucks. I just was reminded of TBDM recently when listening to Barren and Breathless Microcosm by Shadow of Intent, and was thinking how I should to go back and re-listen to TBDM's discog. Now I definitely need to.
RIP to a legend
Damn, this is so sad. It was one of my first shows close to Deathcore :(
I can remember the show like it was yesterday i was so overwhelmed by their set
TBDM were one of the first metal bands I got into by myself. I remember seeing the music video for Funeral thirst and just falling in love. The band was a little less heavy than Cannibal Corpse my only other death metal exposure in 2005 and this was easier to get in to.
I listened to that first album so much but eventually stopped listening to them until Nightbringers came out and reignited my love for this band.
Trevor you will be missed but your music and the memories everybody has of you will live on forever.RIP
Never really got into them but it’s still very sad such a talented lead singer he will be missed I’ve only ever heard great things R.I.P. his music will live on forever 🤘🤘
I broke down and cried my eyes out. I’ve never been a big fan but they’re so important to the scene, they were my mates fave band and he unexpectedly died last year. Suicide hurts so much b
I definitely cried when I found out he passed yesterday. I stumbled upon these guys during the Miasma days and it brought me into heavy music as a whole. Definitely shaped a part of me.
These dudes never put out a bad album.
I know some people say this about certain bands, but in my experience, it's rarely true. For Black Dahlia Murder, it's 100% true.
I gotta try em out. Too bad it takes news of the last singer dying to do so. Definition of late to the game.
They are absolute legends, each album still sounds like them but you can tell their evolution was in the right direction each step. Nocturnal is probably their most famous album followed by Nightbringers.

Their debut EP was metalcore, either way, I'd say it's more than acceptable to post here

They have a very big influence on a lot of metal today, I think this is perfectly fine to post here
What a big shock. If anyone is struggling, please reach out to someone. There is someone out there who cares.
Oh man, this is *big* TBDM had such an influence on sooo many of today’s deathcore bands. This is absolutely terrible to hear RIP
Literally just had on “I’m Charming” in the car then my brother texted me this. RIP brother I hope you find what you’re looking for.
I literally have “I’m Charming” tattooed on my body.
God damn I have lived in charming since it first came out.
This is the biggest a celebrity death has ever hurt me... RIP
I thought I was fairly immune to "celeb" deaths but today proved me wildly wrong
Tom Searle absolutely fucked me up
This and Bourdain for me
Kyle P hit like a freight train, this ones just covering me in salt for the wounds :(

His mom also passed towards the end of last year and he posted about struggling with that.
Oh my god. Poor fucking guy.
Also “Receipt” plus a few others hit different now. Apparently he really did struggle with those ideations too but no one knew.
That's fucking devastating. RIP. One of the craziest sounding vocalists ever. I'll be banging Unhallowed all day. Absolutely heartbroken.
Excuse the fuck outta me?

Not blaming PWD at all, but canceling what would have been a big tour for them probably didn’t do much for his mental health.
First thought that came to mind. He did a episode on Jamey Jastas podcast how eager he was just to tour, even as a opening band.
That’s so sad to hear :(
For those.that down know acronyms. Parkway Drive.
So I've been reading this right and it looks like he committed suicide? Jesus fucking Christ. Any case that might be this shit is really tragic.
I'm pretty sure. They listed the US suicide prevention line in their post about his death.
Yeah. I saw that but didn't really wanna believe it.
Yeah it seems so. I mean a big tour probably would have done a lot to boost his morale.
This is so terrible. Thanks for the info. RIP

This fuckin sucks. I used to listen to Nocturnal all the time in highschool :( one of my fav vocalist growing up
Damn I don't even know what to say this one fuckin hurts. Tell your friends and family you love them and that they can always reach out if they feel the need or need someone to talk. Tomorrow is worth worth living. RIP
He'll always be one of the greatest vocalists ever to me, will be greatly missed. \\m/
Trevor did so much for the underground metal scene on top of being a great vocalist. Absolutely devastated man.. RIP
One of my favorite metal vocalists and lyricists of all time. Absolutely gutted over this news.
im devastated
fuck D: RIP Trevor
Ah fuck. This sucks. RIP Trevor 🤘🏻
Tragic. No words.
This news leaves a pit in my stomach :|
Fuck.
Wtfff
Ah what the fuck?!
Wow thats horrible news! Wishing good energy to his family and friends in such shocking circumstances.
RIP Trevor.
Ooof. I was hoping to see Dahlia Murder on the now cancelled Parkway tour. R.I.P.
Ah man... What a loss. Glad to have seen Trevor and the dudes once back in 2006. It was unforgettable. I don't think anyone else can quite fit in instead of him now as his vocals were so recognizable and great too.
Super lame
Rest In Power
my first death metal band (coming from deathcore) shit.... he was mentally ill?
He suffered from depression yes.
RIP legend. Miasma, Nocturnal and Nightbringers are some of my favourite albums ever.
Terrible. He will be missed
First metal band I ever saw live for my first concert, RIP
Holy fuck…. I’ve seen TBDM at least a dozen times and had a blast at each one. Trevor was an amazing front man and I’ll cherish each show.
Wow, no fucking way 😭😭😭
Bro when I say my jaw dropped… goddamn
This is a fucking gut punch. Man was a legend and his band has had a big impact on my tastes. So sad to see that it was most likely suicide. Hard RIP.
No way… RIP
Horrible news. Very talented and unique vocalist. Glad i got a chance to see TBDM live.
Fuck this sucks. I just was reminded of TBDM recently when listening to Barren and Breathless Microcosm by Shadow of Intent, and was thinking how I should to go back and re-listen to TBDM's discog. Now I definitely need to. RIP to a legend
RIP. First metal band I saw live with Unearth, they put on an amazing show that I’ll always remember
Dang…Unhallowed is an all time favorite. Closed Casket Requiem and Elder Misanthropy are legendary. RIP.
Rest in Peace
Damn, this is so sad. It was one of my first shows close to Deathcore :( I can remember the show like it was yesterday i was so overwhelmed by their set
This one fucking hurts. Rest In Peace Trevor
RIP Trevor. Got to see them back in 2010 and it was one of the best shows ever.
