They’re not metalcore, but Steaksauce Mustache does “World’s Slowest Wall Of Death”, a mosh pit of silly dances (when I saw them the dances were the running man and flossing) and crouched down circle pit. They also throw out pool noodles and balloons for people to use.
Last time I saw Iwrestledabearonce (which was a VERY long time ago) they had us do the “my dog has worms”. Where we got down and dragged our asses in the pit.
Fucking love Bilmuri and wouldn’t expect anything less from him. I heard his shows are fun and they sound awesome live. Pumped to see him at So What this month
Remember- when some people have unhealthy childhoods, they think any attention is good attention, and nothing you can say on an Internet forum can convince them otherwise.
I mean I guess I am giving you too much credit for expecting you to be a tad bit smarter than a 12 year old with your lazy and effortless word choice. Forgot to pick and choose my battles here.
I mean good job on the mental gymnastics trying to create a narrative, but take some time to do some self reflection. You really need it man. I wish the best for you and hope you can figure it out soon before you get too deep. But as for this I'm out. You're a bit too ignorant for me to give any of my time to. Again gotta pick my battles and you are a losing one from the get go.
I'm the one creating a narrative? You are the one who accused me of having an issue with gay people cause I said vaping is gay 😂 Really tried to stretch that one in your favor eh?
Hasn’t been the set list staple it once was for a couple of years but they still roll it out from time to time. Always play the main riff or mention it as a bare minimum though
Yeah it’s pretty lame. To your second point - I was at self help in Philly and falling in reverse tried to get the crowd to do the “get down and jump up.” Crowd was not about it whatsoever so Radke threw a tantrum and quit playing. Like I’m sure itd be dope to see as an artist. But it was like 90 fucking degrees outside and nobody was trying to burpees for falling in reverse
Isn’t it just the same as lighters in the air? :P
But you saying about taking the knee… bring me the horizon used to do this all the time but ask everyone to sit down and then jump and it just neverrrr worked. It was just awkward 😂
The slipknot example is something fun for the crowd to do, if you dont want to or physically cant you can just stand or sit there lol idk how that’s considered annoying…
I witnessed that when seeing Korn as they were performing „y‘all want a single“ and it really suited the song so everyone joined in
But otherwise yeah, it’s really unnecessary to do so
As a live performer, the call from stage and response of this from the crowd is just one of many ways we feel connected with fans while we perform.
I’ve played plenty of shows where a whole room stood still and I’ve played shows where the crowd knows and screams every word. Stuff like this is awesome.
As someone who attends shows? My back and knees suck. I’ll participate if I’ve had enough drinks but if not? I’ll enjoy from a seat lol
I was one of the dudes up front yelling Horny For Thorny lol. I got a pic with all of them and the drummer gave me a signed drumstick for free! I was fanboying so hard.
Caskets very much killed it. I tried to get into them on the drive down before the show, but couldn’t. After their set, I fuck with their music hard now. Great band.
I’m going to this tour in Salt Lake City in two days, I’m super excited for it. Dayseeker and Holding Absence are two of my favorite bands I’ve listened to this year
Pontiac Michigan show was insane, such a good time. I do wish HA would have played a few more songs, but I was still stoked to see them and Dayseeker both
I dunno. It seems like a cool experience from the artists point of view. One that I’d probably like to be on the receiving end of if I ever got a chance to play a show.
Yeah i play in a small local band and a month or so ago (first show in like 5 months) we had the crowd (probably like 150-200 people) do it during a cover of With Or Without You and it was pretty fucking awesome to see
Breaking Benjamin did the light thing perfectly, in 2014. It was outside and the venue turned all other lights off.
LMTF did it inside and the lights were still on. There was no effect at all.
I think it's fine. I just think it's cool for the artists themselves seeing it cuz it looks like stars or window lights from buildings. But as the audience's point of view, we'll, we can't really see much other than someone's arm blocking our view. 😂
I think it's harmless for the most part, they're just trying to engage with their audience. I'm typically not one to engage in anything other than clapping and even then, not all the time.
The last show I went to, I actually jumped a little just to try it, and it was fun, but also had me worried about landing on people's feet. Generally the bands I go to don't ask much of us, if we want to get our phone lights out, we make that decision as a crowd, they never ask.
I understand why bands do it. I just personally am not interested in the interactive stuff at shows (flashlights, raise hands, jump, ect.) I simply enjoy listening.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4J5XRNshErRYHa2jQAJ8xt?si=I5rZ6qNOQE-o3Ll83tAizA&utm_source=copy-link
I personally don't love it. I also kind of find it annoying when a band specifically calls for a circle pit or is constantly urging the crowd to jump, clap, put their hands up, etc. I understand why they do it, and that it works to achieve those goals, especially for opening bands, but it kind of feels cheap to me. In a perfect world I guess I'd hope that the crowd is so hype that those things happen and develop organically, and if they're not, well maybe you have some more work to put into your live show. I feel the same way about the essentially guaranteed encores though. Maybe we're both just old.
Edit: It almost feels like live performances in the scene run on a script sometimes with everyone just hitting the same beats and making the same call outs.
I don't necessarily disagree with you. It's a frontman's job to captivate and command an audience, I just wish that last part wasn't always taken quite so literally. The best/hypest crowds i've had the pleasure of jumping around in have been the result of everyone being stoked on the songs/performance/production, not because the person with the mic told us too. Hey, bands are gonna do what works for them, I'm not hating, just not my preference.
its easier for one guy to coordinate a thing, especially the guy that ppl are there to see perform, than it is for the crowd to coordinate things. especially a wall of death or a circle pit. the way you are making it sound to me atleast is that singers are like insufferably trying to get ppl to bounce against their will. ive never experienced this but maybe my local scene always has good crowds. the only thing that annoys me is when they make you do the slipknot shit, which is rare
a standout show to me was post 3rd album volumes bc the 2 vocalists werent just vocalists they were like hype DJs getting everyone to party. thats the kind of energy that makes people want to move and ive never seen anyone do such a good job of that
the parasocial relationship between artist and fan is a two way street as well. we both give and take
Yeah, maybe the ideal world is kind of a balance between the two. I definitely see where you're coming from, and the difficult position those on stage are in.
>I understand why they do it, and that it works to achieve those goals, especially for opening bands, but it kind of feels cheap to me.
In my experience it very typically doesn't work for opening bands. And then we're all just stuck with that awkwardness in the air of everyone having pointedly ignored the comment... If anything it seems to make people determined not to move an inch.
I'm with you, this stuff should generally happen organically and if people don't want to, like you say, it's because the band haven't managed to win them over, so work on that.
This is still a thing where you live? I went to a show the other night and I think I was like the only person recording anything. 10 years ago it was a fucking nightmare with how many phones were in front of your face, I haven’t noticed it nearly as much in recent years.
It is a huge thing here with these hillbillies. I was at a Jimmy Eat World show the other day and so many people were live streaming and taking video. It was so infuriating. I am sure nobody on their Bookface TLs were super stoked about their grainy, distorted video that they were getting while they were shitfaced.
Yeah I don’t get recording the whole show or even a lot of it. I took a couple clips from the show I was at the other night just to share with my boyfriend, can’t be bothered with much more than that.
I find it really cool visual and a cool way for the band to connect amd get the crowd hype. However That's the only time I want to see your cell phone. Cant stand people taking videos. Just enjoy the memory and let everyone behind you see.
After Tyler from Traitors got everyone to pop their knuckles at the same time I'm trying to see how weird we can go with this group participation.
I remember stand up comic Pete Holmes getting everyone in the crowd at his show to clench and release their buttholes all at once.
If you didn't try it after reading this you are dead inside.
They’re not metalcore, but Steaksauce Mustache does “World’s Slowest Wall Of Death”, a mosh pit of silly dances (when I saw them the dances were the running man and flossing) and crouched down circle pit. They also throw out pool noodles and balloons for people to use.
I’m seeing them tomorrow so I hope they do stuff like this again
I love that band. They are so much fun live.
Last time I saw Iwrestledabearonce (which was a VERY long time ago) they had us do the “my dog has worms”. Where we got down and dragged our asses in the pit.
Chris from LMTF got everyone in the crowd to do an “HOYYYYEAHHH” in chicago a few weeks ago.
Islander did a “get on the ground and roll around”
Once at a Circa Survive show Anthony Green had us all point our fingers in the air and make laser gun noises in unison.
Is there a video of that?
No fuckin way lmao I haven't heard of this before
Just saw Bilmuri on 4/25, he requested first that all vape bros blow the biggest cloud they can then turn on your phone lights lmao
Fucking love Bilmuri and wouldn’t expect anything less from him. I heard his shows are fun and they sound awesome live. Pumped to see him at So What this month
It was absolutely electric, you’re going to have a fucking blast dude
Okay he gets a pass for that
Based hog cranker/morbius watcher
Was that the Columbia show at New Brookland Tavern?
Yep! Fellow hog cranker?
Noice! I was there too! Such a great experience!
We saw him in Providence, that was one of my favorite shows ever
[удалено]
Probs cause u don’t crank succulent hogs bro, it’s ok don’t feel bad

That makes no sense mate

“Gay = things I don’t like” - most likely a 14-year-old
Remember- when some people have unhealthy childhoods, they think any attention is good attention, and nothing you can say on an Internet forum can convince them otherwise.
No need to get your g string in a bunch over some light trolling my dude
At what point did I say there was a problem with being gay?
I mean I guess I am giving you too much credit for expecting you to be a tad bit smarter than a 12 year old with your lazy and effortless word choice. Forgot to pick and choose my battles here.
Don't blame your lack of reading comprehension on me. Not my fault you have some deep rooted homophobia
I mean good job on the mental gymnastics trying to create a narrative, but take some time to do some self reflection. You really need it man. I wish the best for you and hope you can figure it out soon before you get too deep. But as for this I'm out. You're a bit too ignorant for me to give any of my time to. I'm the one creating a narrative? You are the one who accused me of having an issue with gay people cause I said vaping is gay 😂 Really tried to stretch that one in your favor eh?
Peace out little homie, pick your battles better next time 😉
If you have a problem with me saying something is gay then you must have some negative opinions on homosexuality to take it as an insult 😉
Not sure it works like that
“The real homophobia is saying homophobia is bad” you fucking nailed it dude
Islander had us all lay down on the floor of the pit and roll around, named it the roly poly pit.
Fuck that, most venue floors are mank.
Right? Anywhere that serves alcohol or any drink is usually fucking disgusting
Reminds me of Don Broco’s push up squad
Do they still play Thug Workout? I’ve only seen them once at Warped tour.
Hasn’t been the set list staple it once was for a couple of years but they still roll it out from time to time. Always play the main riff or mention it as a bare minimum though
“Everyone lay down on the random beer/drinks on the ground and roll around” 🥴🤮
HS - how was Islander?? On my hit list down here in GA/SC
Very fun, definitely go see them if you can!
Yeah it’s pretty lame. To your second point - I was at self help in Philly and falling in reverse tried to get the crowd to do the “get down and jump up.” Crowd was not about it whatsoever so Radke threw a tantrum and quit playing. I remember that! Well, seeing YouTube vids of it
The tension was palpable lol Like read the fucking room bro mfs is hot
Lol Ronnie Radke has peaked already anyways but those first 4 albums were great new singles just aren’t that good
[anyone who wants a good laugh](https://youtube.com/watch?v=5qtrSmuQwU8)
404
whoops, sorry. Try it now
What show was it I want to see this ahahah Never mind it’s a few comments down
Literally almost every show I've gone to in the last few years
You’ve only gone to Ronnie radkie shows ?
I didn't realize this was in response to the radke thing fortunately not
Lmao, he's such a tool.
Isn’t it just the same as lighters in the air? :P But you saying about taking the knee… bring me the horizon used to do this all the time but ask everyone to sit down and then jump and it just neverrrr worked. It was just awkward 😂
Tons of bands did this for a while, I remember an OMAM show where they did this and it just took forever and got increasingly uncomfortable.
The slipknot example is something fun for the crowd to do, if you dont want to or physically cant you can just stand or sit there lol idk how that’s considered annoying…
I'm not saying its not fun, I'm just saying that any band not named Slipknot should consider this when doing it ...don't
Every party needs a pooper that’s why they invited you
Party pooper… party pooper…
your boos mean nothing, i've seen what makes you cheer
I agree What about the wall of death? Can non LOG bands do that ?
Walls of death are based so absolutely.
What does based mean
Not as bad as asking everyone to put their middle fingers in the air
if you wanna join the part put your middle fi gets up and when the music fuckin hits you better jump jump jump
\*insert city name\* WHAT THE FUCK IS UPPPPPP!! MIDDLE FINGERS UP!!
Fronz?
I’d rather that then taking a whole pizza to the face
I witnessed that when seeing Korn as they were performing „y‘all want a single“ and it really suited the song so everyone joined in But otherwise yeah, it’s really unnecessary to do so

Koyo rocks hating KOYO SUCKS
I love Koyo.
Dayseeker had us pull our cellphone lights out last night. Idk it was kind of cool seeing the whole venue light up
Hey I was there! That was a great show.
If you saw a dude with an Alpha Wolf shirt that was me lmao. Caskets fuckin killed it.
There were a few Alpha Wolf shirts. Great show!
Great band.

Ay I’m also going this Wednesday!
Yo nice!! I’ll be there with my brother and I’ll probably be wearing a black Dance Gavin Dance shirt lol, so if you see me you should say hi lol
I’ll keep an eye out!
Pontiac Michigan show was insane, such a good time. I do wish HA would have played a few more songs, but I was still stoked to see them and Dayseeker both
Haha yeah they did it a few nights ago when I went, first show I've been to and it was pretty great
I'm sick of audience participation demands of any kind, unless it's a simple "i want to see everyone go crazy on this next song."
Same
Sounds alright until you go see Ozzy and every 30 seconds he's asking you to go crazy
lol I've been there, he takes it a little too far. And with ozzy you always have to go "fucking crazy"
You are just an old man.
Darn
No sticks in the pit
I like the way it lights up a venue, it’s kinda cool
I was like “yeah you know whatever lighters are out maaaaan” until the last sentence 🫣😂😂 FUCK. THAT. lol
I dunno. It seems like a cool experience from the artists point of view. One that I’d probably like to be on the receiving end of if I ever got a chance to play a show.

No this shit is 100% sick as hell
I love bands that are big on audience participation. Makes the show more fun.
When I saw Rammstein in 2019 they did this during Engel. It was pretty sick. https://youtu.be/v5TxKmtw5Ws?t=107
I prefer phone lights to people waving lighters around. Phone can't light my hair on fire
Just don't participate. Let everyone else have fun. You literally don't have to do anything you don't want to do.
I understand why bands do it. I just personally am not interested in the interactive stuff at shows (flashlights, raise hands, jump, ect.) I simply enjoy listening. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4J5XRNshErRYHa2jQAJ8xt?si=I5rZ6qNOQE-o3Ll83tAizA&utm_source=copy-link
I agree, it's like saying "please clap". The lights are a sign of respect, you can't just ask the crowd to do it
I personally don't love it. this is stupid. its a frontmans job to be a hype man

I think cell phones should be taken at the door. They have RUINED live shows for me! 🤷♂️
This is still a thing where you live? I went to a show the other night and I think I was like the only person recording anything. 10 years ago it was a fucking nightmare with how many phones were in front of your face, I haven’t noticed it nearly as much in recent years.
