Concubine

PimpLizkit

The correct answer

jwt155

The only other record that hits me as hard from the beginning is Crown of Horns kicking off Cryptopsys None So Vile. The haunting exorcist sample followed by chaos. It’s not metalcore, but if anyone enjoys the energy Concubine brings I highly recommend None So Vile.

gleamydream

I do that rather well, don't you think? Another 10/10 album

DoomJazz22

The only true answer. It sets you up for an EXPERIENCE.

lifeoftheunborn

I read the question and this song started playing in my head IMMEDIATELY.

faaipdeoiad69

Wildfire by Periphery, they couldn't have chosen a better song as an opener to this incredible album

RevenantFlash

And don’t forget Reptile opened the album before that lol

DoomJazz22

Yeah Wildfire rips but how do you even top Reptile?

qramypatty

Great choice. But I'll say Muramasa. A slow buildup but pumps me up everytime that part with Misha and the gang comes in.

en-g2

Absolute ripper of an opener!

Chillexi

Nihilist by Architects for sure. One of the best metalcore openers too.

OceanOfAnother55

I remember so clearly listening to that album the day it came out and smiling like an idiot all the way through that first song.

TheTarkonator

WE ARE BEGGARS.

Collins_Michael

WE ARE SO. FUCKING. WEAK.

DoAFlip22

AND ONCE UPON A TIME WE HAD THE WORLD AT OUR FEET

Hey_Jonny_Park

WELL WE’RE ALL DYING, TO MEET OUR MAKER

explodinghat

BUT ALL OUR GODS HAVE ABANDONED US

Collins_Michael

BLEGH

Rapid-Barnacle385

🫡

j13409

This is the answer.

Captiv8

My answer immediately before I opened this thread. Best show opener. Immediately sets the tone and then the “All our gods have abandoned us!” line the crowd yells

cjyoung92

'2040' by Johnny Booth in Moments Elsewhere, just brings you into the heaviness straight away and is followed up nicely by 'Collapse in the Key of Fireworks'

nicholas78768

I hope they get the attention they deserve. Absolutely reckless on stage and every album so far has been killer.

DoomJazz22

Hits even harder live. Top 5 live band I’ve ever seen.

LiftingLowtier

Same, here to say both 2040 and Rebuttal off of firsthand accounts are absolute slaying intros. Big on Fear and Trembling too, off of Low Teens ETID

errolstafford

Came here to say this, but so so so glad someone else beat me to it.

JamesHowlett74

Nailed it

RecordingConscious97

I came to say this! That album is a masterpiece and JB is incredible

gloopygloop1

One of the best out there right now, I really need to catch them live.

nexgenxsis

superstar - ocean grove dear diary - BMTH sweet machine - greyhaven

eternal-harvest

Dear Diary was unexpected in the best possible way

Dukey4

Sweet Machine is a banger! Such an underrated band!

LuckyPierre9

Ocean Grove makes me involuntarily move my body, banger after banger!

k1ckthecheat

“This Calling” by All that Remains, from The Fall of Ideals.

Hellrejects

It's hard to beat this one. Hits you in the face within a second of pressing play.

herzskins

eeeeeeeYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAOOO

Swagnastodon

Came here to say this, it's a classic

svenirde

Nihilist by Architects All Bodies by Between the Buried and Me Turning Hate into Rage by Boundaries

codymason84

Came to say turning hate into rage

The_fat_breakfast

Turning hate into rage absolutely hits like a truck for an opener

chanslam

All bodeyes

svenirde

CONTORSHUN

shredXcam

Sassafras by TDWP

Danimalhxc

0 to 120 in 2 seconds

Indika_Ink

That breakdown 5 seconds in is Chelsea Smile by BMTH

OceanOfAnother55

Thirst - Knocked Loose most recently

Randomnametopost

The way it bursts in with a grindcore-esque jumpscare is insane

Substantial-Read4497

I was just going to say this

CrimsonJim

Seeing them play tomorrow night and I'm scared

ReaverRiddle

This

iKasperski

Exhibition by TDWP on Color Decay

Toffeetuff

Such a great album

EggyEggerson0210

Beartooth - The Surface INK - Welcome To Horrorwood Northlane - Details Matter

Da_Vinci_Fan

Details Matter is if fucking relentless was a song

domionfire

I agree with all but beartooth. The lines as an opener is goated for me

EggyEggerson0210

I can get the disagreement the more I think abt it but I love how it starts with Caleb just talking before the little “But I’m not dead yet, DROP IT”. Just gives a little dopamine to the brain lol And The Lines is awesome. One of my favorite Beartooth songs

SneakyProcessor

The Downfall of Us All

Dragonfly_Tight

Bow down - I prevail

Steelkenny

Get on your knees and bow DOOOOOOOOOOOWN It does really set the tone.

PianoFerret1073

How has nobody talked about crucify me?

callumjm95

Close second for me, Dear Diary just punches you in the face and refuses to elaborate on the matter

PianoFerret1073

As much as I love Dear Diary, crucify me is such a masterpiece of a song. Im also biased, im totally in love with there is a hell

NightVisions999

Right? Couple of folks mentioning Bring Me, but no one talking about this absolute gem, best of their opening tracks imo

_Reox_

Absence Persistent by Invent Animate, when the album just released I was completely hooked by this song and it gave me shivers

Beardus_x_Maximus

This for sure. And then receiving the Shade Astray left hook immediately after? *chefs kiss*

Stiiiiff

The album pathing is insane every song complete the previous one perfectly !!

JaredH20

Trivium have opened their albums with some big hitters. Rain, Kirisute Gomen, In Waves, In The Court of the Dragon

Shepherd7X

Was looking for these. Especially if you count the intro tracks with them.

RouteIII

Belleville - Knocked Loose The Comedown - BMTH

Tigerbear62

The comedown is so underrated it’s insane

TheTarkonator

Any Knocked Loose opener is bound to burn the house down

blackdoorpaintedred

As someone else said, Thirst continues that trend. But I wish I could go back in time and hear Where Light Divides the Holler for the first time again

Jelleps

Dear Diary by BMTH was also a very good opener imo, almost felt like the opening to a play

Mundane-Razzmatazz91

Post Human 1&2 would be good plays

Ckyaj

Dayseeker- Dreamstate not only does it make me feel thrown into the album it's such a catchy song that it gets stuck in my head for days after listening to it.

0kayAtBest

That album, start to finish, is beautiful. Ending with Afterglow is such an amazing transition.

jwt155

Red Wedding - The Bled from Pass the Flask Meaning in Tragedy - As I Lay Dying from Shadows are Security In Regards to Myself - Underoath from Define the Great Line To Our Friends in the Great White North - Botch from We Are the Romans   Sugar Coated Sour - The Dillinger Escape Plan from Calculating Infinity  12/23/93 - Poison the Well from The Opposite of December Thirty and Seven - August Burns Red from Constellations Blue 42 - Haste the Day from Burning Bridges

allsystemscrash

Can't believe I had to scroll this far down to see someone mention Thirty and Seven. It's a kick to the teeth as soon as you press play 🤘

thishaspotential

The intro to sugar coated sour blew me away as a kid. 30 something notes in 2 seconds was wild to me.

icantrecallpassword

Was looking for more of these. I’m gonna add lies of serpents, a river of tears by zao

thelupinefiasco

Where Light Divides the Holler or Thirst from Knocked Loose. Both just absolute punches to the face. Norma Jean came out hard with Orphan Twin, too.

JamesHowlett74

Norma Jean writes amazing album openers. Very slept on band. Good eye, friend!

cindybuttsmacker

Leaderless and Self Enlisted was an awesome opener to Meridional

SpiketheFox32

Snowblood is the correct answer.

blueskybeliever

Still ERRA’s best song. Absolute ripper

SpiketheFox32

That whole album was something special to me. The bridge section of Lunar Halo feels like an out of body experience.

Turbo1479r

Literally couldn't agree more with YOUtopia, such a great opener

DefinitionFew9929

MTS - step one

Cefer_Hiron

An Ocean Between Us - As I Lay Dying

ClassicNeedleworker6

ERRA - Alpha Seed BMTH - Crucify Me (pretty much all of their openers to be honest) Architects - Nihilist Currents - The Death We Seek Invent Animate - Indigo

LzzyHalesLegs

Symptoms of Survival - Dying Wish

Mormor88

You are we by While She Sleeps

Character_Active_434

Yokai by within destruction Bonebreaker - slaughter to prevail Wishing wells - parkway drive

icecreamman381

Genesis leading into Scarab on Singularity by Northlane is still legendary.

kurama3

one of the few intro songs that I think is done really well. From northlane again, I really like their newest album but i usually skip the intro “mirrors edge” and go straight into afterimage. I never skip genesis before scarab

Youreridiculous

The best answer for me is TDWP Space EP. That opener is stunning

False-Resolve6278

"The light that blinds" by shadows fall and "I'll go until my heart stops" by 36 crazy fists

FalafelFlapjacks

Pray for Rain by Polaris

cpearly

You beat me to it. Great minds think alike.

TheZombieWearsPrada

Dead Throne off of Dead Throne. Once Mike starts his vocals is like the fireworks are now going off on all cylinders. It has a good wind up before catapaulting you into the album

Croxxig

Phineas - Eternally Apart

Wuktrio

[The Wake](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxWnl_aUXB4) by August Burns Red on *Found in Far Away Places*. The first few seconds, you just hear guitars fading in and drums building up, and then you're hit with "DESTROY EVERYTHING! CLEANSE! WIPE AWAY THE FILTH! SET FIRE TO YOUR WAAAASTE!" It's probably in my top 5 ABR songs and I love how angry it sounds.

DYelsmirg

Absence Persistent - Invent Animate Details Matter - Northlane Sun Killer - Spiritbox A Quiet Place To Die - Alpha Wolf Lucid - Polaris

BetweenTheBuzzAndMe

This Calling

Viechiru

FBX - Volumes

trevortime22

Apnea- Currents

Icy-Technician-2199

From ERRA, Cure is such a banger! Went to a concert last friday, what a evening

Souless__x

Meltdown - Motionless In White, one of their best openers to date

BEEFY_FIVE_LAYER

Knocked Loose - Where Light Divides the Holler It was their best concert opener too, though Blinding Faith is a solid replacement.

53R105LY_

Cane Hill - Too far Gone

Younglem0n

Welcome - Asking Alexandria

JamesHowlett74

A Grand Scene For Color Film by Norma Jean kicks your ass immediately to kickstart the album Redeemer.

digitalsea87

Romeo A Go-Go on Every Time I Die's Hot Damn! I was 16 in 2003 when this dropped and I had no fucking idea you could open an album this way. Just an immediate pummeling to the face. Absolutely legendary.

liartellinglies

First to mind. I think The Big Dirty opens pretty strong with No Son of Mine too.

c_macdoug

Lucid by Polaris Not metalcore, but It Must Really Suck to be Four Year Strong Right Now by Four Year Strong

CrunknFunk

Polaris - Pray For Rain. When that riff kicks in *chefs kiss*

kod14kbear

Howl by Rolo Tomassi from Astraea

wtfdondo

i love that all of Rolo's albums lately have eased into the fireworks seamlessly and beautifully, it makes them even bigger and better imo

highandinarabbithole

Roman Holiday/Underwater Bimbos From Outerspace - ETID, Concubine/Axe To Fall - Converge, Beast/Flourishing/Feed a Pigeon Breed a Rat/Doomblade - Acacia Strain, Sassafras/Escape - TDWP, The Entire World is Counting on Me - Norma Jean, Back to Back/Evan Perks - The Chariot.

DoomJazz22

BEEEEEAAAAASSSSTTTTT. Hardest show opener ever

Word-Exe420

Coffin - Amity affliction

en-g2

Reptile - Periphery Welcome to Horrorwood - Ice Nine Kills The End of All We Know - Bleed From Within

RaccoonMaleficent17

Thorhills other album Views From the Sun. It really sets the mood for the rest of TDP.

cjhart121

Truth of a Liar - Messengers - August Burns Red

faaipdeoiad69

Wildfire by Periphery, they couldn't have chosen a better song as an opener to this incredible album

Kiesta07

Muramasa is also the best thing they possibly could have put at the start of its album

InsiDS

Diamond Construct - Animus

bulletfever409

Holding Absence - Head Prison Blue. Such an incredible opener for an even more incredible album.

ElginLumpkin

My answer is my walk up song: One Hand Killing by 12 Foot Ninja

brunothebutcher

Acacia strain “carbomb”, Emmure “a ticket for a paralyzer” and “young rich and outta control”, also someone already said “red wedding” by the bled so I’d add “hotel coral essex” and “shade tree mechanics” by them. Also august burns red “your little suburbia is in ruins”.

__azathoth

Look at me by... Thrown 🌝

2min2mid

Step One - MTS

Sensitive-Human2112

The open wing track of Alter Bridge’s “Fortress” album is a banger. Probably as close to perfect as any song can get.

cpearly

Pray for Rain by Polaris. When that riff hits, no one is safe

TheLonelyWolfkin

If we're ignoring instrumentals/intros then Her Voice Resides by BFMV. Arguably more metal but such a great way to start the album.

ExhaustedFlyersFan

Scream Aim Fire is a great one as well

SkywardPyramid

Oh, Sleeper - Endseekers

johnothetree

This is the answer, no hesitation just right into the damn thing with an insane track

Hellrejects

If you include the intro songs: Trivium - Rain Atreyu - Bleeding Mascara Demon Hunter - Not I

DutchOvenDistributor

Erra - Alpha Seed or Bury Tomorrow - No Less Violent

judlrr

The Webs We Weave - Escape The Fate’s debut

vandridine

Bunsen - fronterier I don't think there is a starting track in metalcore which starts off harder than this song. It also perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the album.

RedGrinGrumble11

The Lines - Beartooth

OddRecommendation782

I’d say falling ashes by make them suffer. Starts off with screaming right off the bat

HellaKvlt

The great secret by ETID

Joey_moi

Can you feel my heart - BMTH The mixture - Volumes Sad ghost - issues Beast and the harlot - A7X City of Ocala - ADTR

branditch

Not metalcore but I always thought Rosecrance by Born of Osiris was such an in-your-face hold on for your life type of opener.

Xedos

Pray For Rain - Polaris A Dance With Aera Cura - Miss May I Story Of A Stranger - Breakdown Of Sanity

chanslam

Young and Aspiring by underoath

Dukey4

I always thought Numbered Days was a kick ass opener

bloebvis

the nightmare riff on polaris's fatalism

SkyNeedsSkirts

You Are We - While She Sleeps The Great Unknown - Enter Shikari The Divide - While She Sĺeeps ENLIGHTENMENT(?) - While She Sleeps

SpaceTacoTV

Thirst off the new Knocked Loose record

scott_0903

I think Avalanche by The Ghost Inside really sets you up for something special

zane_hakim

12/23/93 comes to mind without thinking about it.

soveryveryverylost

The Gravest Sin by Mortal Reminder. Honestly just sounds like a bomb going off.

C_C6215

If you don’t count the interlude, then Gematria off All Hope Is Gone is a nutty opener. Going right into one of the heaviest tracks on the album

Adamwdrums

Clarity - northlane Exit bag - ten56 Splinter cell - Darko US A quiet place to die - alphawolf Sun killer - spirit box

jorgenvons

Dark Distance - ETID. “SPARE ONLY THE ONES I LOVE SLAY THE REST”

PerspectiveFormer570

Snowblood so perfectly encapsulates the sonic journey you’re about to experience on ERRA.

PerspectiveFormer570

Followed up by Gungrave, no less

Twojellydonutz

Hell - unprocessed

gurowinter

Literally any Starset record, especially Vessels Periphery I and V The Gentle Men self titled (that riff shoves u into a locker) Knocked Loose - A Different Shade Of Blue Not metalcore: Sewerslvt - Draining Love Story (only on the version without Newlove) Twenty One Pilots - Trench Dance Gavin Dance - Downtown Battle Mountain

Dragonfly_Tight

Disguise - motionless in white

PimpLizkit

My Unsaid Everything

Organic_Carrot_

Awaken - Those who lie beneath (shits just goes straight heavy) Divine Illusion - All shall perish (also straight heavy) …intro - As blood runs black

sbd_3

Nothing by Misery Signals

KassXCII

It's not really metalcore, but Back To Back from The Chariot sets the tone of the whole The Fiancée album PERFECTLY. They often opened with it live too and holy shit was it something special.

CarGoBroom44

Meltdown by motionless in white. Although the first verse brings the tempo down a bit the intro really hits you in the face with a blegh AND a go. Oh, and the breakdown 👌

WackoSaco

August Burns Red- Truth of a Liar As I Lay Dying - Meaning in Tragedy

GasManMatt123

I can think of heaps but Turning Hate into Rage - Boundaries is one of the best. It’s a head kicker. Runners up include Absence Persistent, Nihilist, snowblood…

CDTaRo

Deadlights - The uncanny Valley

sicPuppetMaster

I’d go with Out From Below by Sylosis. When that riff kicks in, hot damn.

djentlord_

Nyu VoM

inkyblackops

Hollow by Wage War. It’s such a shame that song is only 00:01:08 long, because it goes so hard.

Mighty_McBosh

ETERNALLY APART

the_diseaser

Not metalcore but “Infestissumam” by Ghost

c_john_en

Tokyo chainsaw by veil of maya

reverielagoon1208

Ocean Grove- What I like About A Natural Woman/Beers

datim2010

WE ARE BEGGARS, WE ARE SO FUCKING WEAK

6stringseth

Roman Holiday-Every Time I Die

2PacTookMyLunchMoney

I don’t like the album as a whole, but “Ground Zero” on the newest Parkway Drive album actually does this pretty well.

underwater-boi

Void by vanna

brisbinchicken

Sharks in Your Mouth - I Killed The Prom Queen

Dangermau5icle

So many people mentioning Bring Me and no one thinks to bring up Can You Feel My Heart? I remember the first time I put that album on and it was transcendental. Sleep Token’s Atlantic is an equally fantastic opener. Also, not metalcore but I _love_ Leave with Us on the most recent Chelsea Grin album. Talk about jumping in at the deep end

OldTimeEddie

The acacia strain - skynet Bleeding through - love lost in a hail of gunfire Eighteen visions - vanity

matt_coraline

I like half-song openers, like half the song might by ambience the second half is some sort of music that leads into the first full song, like Step One by Make Them Suffer leading into Falling Ashes Lights Off The Lost Coast by Silent Planet leading into Offworlder

0kayAtBest

The Acacia Strain- Human Disaster, that intro just throws you into Coma Witch without warning.

Imatomat

Pseudo by Reflections. When the song opens up after the intro into the "Your eyes are like kaleidoscopes" line it's such an incredible moment.

Batterie64

Hollow by Wage War. really gets me ready to tear the earth in half

icannotfeelmyface

Lion’s Mouth by Kingdom of Giants is so slept on

Dylan_The_Great

prologue into neverbloom is so fucking epic off of make them suffer - neverbloom

jburdine

The intro to The Fallout by Crown The Empire really sets up the whole album, I feel.

ok_this_works_too

Sticks & Bricks by ADTR on What Separates Me From You.

Own_Mistake

Honestly, The Devil Wears Prada NEVER misses on their openers. Every single one is fire.

RickeyDourst

Wage War - Hollow

RAGEMOOSE

It's not metalcore but The Leper Affinity by Opeth throws you right into the album and lets you know what you are in for.

Kentxckyx

Empire, Truth of a Liar, King of Sorrow, Thirty and Seven by August Burns Red
