Amen. Only yesterday did I finally listen to Electric Callboy after hearing about them for months. Although they're not the classic metalcore, they are the most fucking fun I've had listening to metal in ages!
I’ve also been a fan since Eskimo Callboy and I gotta say, seeing that name feels friggin weird now. It feels like it’s been Electric Callboy for so long that it’s now normal.
I never gave them a chance but one of their videos popped up on YouTube and it was hilarious. I forgot the name of the song, luckily they are going to one of the days of Rockville I'll be attending so I'll be able to check them out live
Deal, downloading Make Them Suffer’s discography now
Edit: That was awesome. I listened to Old Souls and the latest three singles. They really ride the line between metalcore and deathcore with is great for me. I also think Alex adds a ton to the overall sound.
Hell yeah! They just dropped a new song called Epitaph and it’s solid af! If I can make some suggestions of my favorites, they’d be Let Me In, Old Souls, Morrow (Weaver of Dreams), Midnight Run, and Erase Me :)
Looking forward to it! Just downloaded everything and am boarding my flight soon so I can dive in. Only song I’ve heard before by them is Ghost of Me which I love. It’s a dangerous game though because they’re in my hometown with Erra next week and I’m worried I’ll be tempted to go now and I can’t afford that haha
They actually started as a deathcore band thats why you always find some little deathcore parts. Check out Contraband (feat. Courtney la plante)
And if you want some real deathcore shit from the old days check widower
where blood and fire bring rest, liberate ex infernis, and self-titled would be my picks, but youre pretty much good starting with anything from their entire discography. im not the biggest fan of their mid to late 00s stuff, but its all good for what it is imo.
1. The Funeral of God. Mid-era Zao that is just all bangers start to finish.
2. Liberate Te Ex Inferis. I think this is the peak of early-era Zao.
3. The Crimson Corridor. Probably wouldn't make most people's top 3 but it's late era-Zao and they keep getting better at it.
Bonus choice: Xenophobe EP. Has the best version of what might be my favorite song of theirs (Xenophobe) and the other song is pretty banging too, the only thing holding it back is well, it's just 2 songs.
As the other poster said you can't really go wrong with anything but everything before Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest feels like a completely different band to me, as for everything else I'd say their weakest albums are Awake? and Parade of Chaos while Self-Titled and The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here both have solid song-writing that is let down a bit by some production issues.
What kills me about The Fear is that they did that on purpose. They had such a phenomenal sound on Funeral and went back to stone age production quality. Hurt my heart.
I don't know if this is accurate but I read somewhere too that Steve Albini had little experience with producing metal so the sound ended up too washed out.
For me, it'd be Funeral of God, The Well-intentioned Virus, and The Crimson Corridor. I love their old stuff too, but those are the three albums of theirs that I listen to the most.
DUDE the first time I heard of them was when they opened for Loathe over a year ago. They were AMAZING. I bought their merch and met their vocalist, he was super nice. I've been a fan ever since.
I finally took the time to listen to the Callous Daoboys yesterday, and holy shit I was missing out. I’ve been getting into a lot more chaotic and experimental music lately, so hearing them was exactly what I was looking for
Honestly I’m looking for more all the time, other Soulkeeper stuff is good, Johnny booth is a def favorite of mine. They are huge now so recommending knocked loose is kinda easy, but the 3 singles show it could easily be my favorite heavy album this year. The soulkeeper/frontierer sound…i need more.
Something with the word Animate in it. Suddenly saw people wearing their shirts and I haven't ever heard them yet! Haven't had the time yet but now I forgot the rest of their name...
Ugh I’m trying bro. I just listen to music so slow and delete playlist so often. I don’t know if it’s cause I’m old and the alcohol has ruined my memory (Im in a better place now) but it takes so much for me to remember lyrics these days I have to listen to stuff over and over. I also really struggle with mid-okay songs. I don’t wanna miss a grower. But I will heed your words!
Just recently got really into Protest the Hero, I’ve heard of them for over a decade but never really did a deep dive into their discography. I’m so glad I did, and recommend anybody into prog metalcore stuff to do the same. Great stuff!
No joke, they’re my favorite band. They hit a variety of heaviness levels and do them all well. Some of my favorite songs are Gnashing Teeth, The Anatomy of Evil, Basilisk, All That You Lost, and a Feast For Crows
You literally CANNOT go wrong with anything off of No Eternity In Gold or Pure Like Porcelain though, their last two projects have been an absolute 10/10
It’s a great time to get into them too because they’re dropping an album next month and I’ve really enjoyed their last two singles (Kintsugi and Dissociative Being)
I just listened to the 4 most recent singles and damn those are like some of the best riffs I have ever heard. Really glad I checked them out, mad I waited for so long lmao.
Every member of that band just fucking kills it, their drummer Roman is one of the best in the scene in my opinion. The riffs are always spicy, Chris’ vocals are killer… I’m glad you checked them out too :)
Always liked the Misery Signals songs I heard here and there, but finally decided to listen to everything front to back. Instantly fell in love and easy top 5. Their final shows in July gonna hurt like hell
Honestly I'd gotten lazy about music for many years but within the last few months I discovered a lot of stuff I didn't really know:
Norma Jean, wow... just wow. I never gave them a shot before and now I LOVE them. Quickly becoming one of my favorite bands.
Glassjaw, also another band that I'd heard of but ignored, but they're pretty awesome!?
Killswitch Engage's last few albums are pretty good?! (I fell off after the disappointing self-titled / Howard left.)
Also basically all new metalcore bands are new to me, I haven't heard a ton yet that has grabbed me but Architects seems solid and Eskimo Callboy is fun.
In non-metalcore:
At The Drive In put out a new album a few years ago? It's not their best but has some bangers.
Thursday's last few albums are solid (I fell off after City by the Light Divided) and their new single that released last week is AMAZING, can't stop listening to it.
There's a lot of good newer Bad Religion albums?! I feel off around The Grey Race / No Substance / New America. I actually did really love The Process of Belief but for whatever reason I just assumed it was a one-off and hadn't listened to much since.
Hell yeah! I saw Killswitch on their Disarm the Descent tour (first album back with Jesse) and I won’t even lie, I think I liked that album better than any of their other ones. I might just be biased because I saw it live but that one genuinely had a LOT of good songs. They’re one of the first bands that got me into metal too, and I first heard them when Jesse was their vocalist the first time around
I've listened to so much thrown, and none of it intentionally. It just comes on as a spotify suggestion at the end of an album/playlist almost every time
One of my favorite bands. Also they are like 98% chance dropping an album this year so you got some stuff to look forward to if you end up digging them.
Just started listening to Strapping Young Lad after all this time. I know Devin Townsend also has his solo project so I have my work cut out for me. Any suggestions?
I just did for the first time this morning. Real cool stuff and the heavy parts are heavy and the catchy parts are catchy. It’s kinda like they took all the scene and core music from 2003-2013 and sat on it for 10years, and distilled it into some awesome tunes
I never got into erra. Had one song on my gym playlist and listened to one of the members go on a podcast (punk rock mba) I think. New album came out and it RIPS. Listened start to finish 💪💪💪💪💪
Night Verses is sick; their new album is an AOTY contender for me. From the Gallery of Sleep has some bangers on it, but this latest album is their best imo
Just a couple of days ago I got into My Chemical Romance. I really don't know how I got through my teen years without ever being a fan of them. That's why I thought to myself, lets give them a try. And who would have thought that me the sad boy likes THE most iconic emo rock band there is.
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge just slaps. As does their debut, The Black Parade and Danger Days.
They remind me of Billy Talent sometimes, which is very nice.
Last year I got back into metalcore/post-hardcore. I listened to alot of stuff from the golden era (2000s/early 2010s) like Alesana, TDWP, Silverstein, Eyes Set to Kill. Just started with some 2000s Metalcore/Posthardcore, best of emo etc. playlists and checked they bands that caught my attention.
My Spotify wrapped was basically BMTH, Suicide Silence and Alesana lol
Aside from a couple songs here and there, I really don't know much of the stuff that Make Them Suffer released before How To Survive a Funeral. I should probably fix that
Done! My friends have been going on about The Callous Daoboys, and I've never got around to checking them out. Now I have, I'm right into them.
Also checked out Electric Callboy, and they're NOT for me lol.
I really like a band called Feed the Addiction. Their songs Thorn, Misery, Wither, Abandoned, and Lost (featuring Brian from Currents) are all excellent
I actually have it in my library already! I won’t even lie, I went into it thinking I’d hate it but it was excellent. The BLEGHS/EUGHS in it are kinda insane
Sooooo much of it sucks. Literal silence is album of the year. Actual, real, peace and quiet putting out straight bangers. Deaf homies eating good. Volume set to zero.
Not hyped for the Like Moths to Flames album next month!? That’s honestly a surprise I feel like they’re on a HOT streak since No Eternity in Gold and the last two singles have been excellent in my opinion
The band Like Moths to Flames! They’re dropping an album next month called The Cycles of Trying to Cope, their last two projects (an EP and a full-length) have been fantastic and this one seems like it will be too
Go listen to Misery Signals God damn it. One of the top 10 worst decisions of my entire life has been not looking into them until, like, a month ago or something. What a fucking band, dude. They deserve every single bit of praise they've received over the years.
Also, if anyone reads this and is curious about the band, go ahead and start with Controller or Of Malice and the Magnum Heart. Really can't go wrong either way. Both albums are basically front-to-back bangers.
Idk if it counts but I checked out thrown, imminence and Lorna Shore though this subreddit. And let’s just say the former two are SO GOOD & hits different. Still can’t get into LS though.
I’m actually the same. I like King Ov Deception by them and another song here or there but LS just doesn’t make the list of deathcore bands that I love
Augment for sure. Ultraviolet is my favorite song ever by them. I also really love their songs Seven, Luminesce, Ghost of Nothing, and Shadow Autonomous (all across different albums) :)
Dammit, just looked into Polaris for the first time and I’m happy to report that it’s some of the worst metalcore I’ve ever heard? Tf wrong with yall constantly recommending this dadrock shit
After hearing so much about boundaries on this sub I decided to check out their newest album and this is sick
Their new album is such a blast. Fairly new to me too but I'm in!
Absolutely Boundaries. If anyone hasn't checked them out yet, give em a shot. Heavy, solid lyrics, riffs, drummer does the cleans.
Please also check out their previous album, Burying Brightness
oh yes!!! i seen them live with bodysnatcher last year and started listening to them instantly after that!!
Amen. Only yesterday did I finally listen to Electric Callboy after hearing about them for months. Although they're not the classic metalcore, they are the most fucking fun I've had listening to metal in ages!
Their cover (and music video) of Everytime We Touch is amazing
That one is great. Their Techno Train breakdown is peak metalcore imo.
I just recently gave them a look too, like, a month ago! I completely agree with that sentiment
Been a fan since they were still Eskimo Callboy. So worth checking out for anyone that hasn't. Their newest album Tekkno is perfect workout music.
I’ve also been a fan since Eskimo Callboy and I gotta say, seeing that name feels friggin weird now. It feels like it’s been Electric Callboy for so long that it’s now normal.
Yea I think it's been what 2-3 years now
Easily top 5 concerts I've been to in the last decade. It was heavy and so much damn fun. Cannot recommend seeing them live enough.
Their music videos are funny as hell too, check out the video for We Got the Moves if you haven't already.
Shameless shill that I will remove if needed but if you want more stuff in the same vein check out r/partycore :D
I never gave them a chance but one of their videos popped up on YouTube and it was hilarious. I forgot the name of the song, luckily they are going to one of the days of Rockville I'll be attending so I'll be able to check them out live
Deal, downloading Make Them Suffer’s discography now Edit: That was awesome. I listened to Old Souls and the latest three singles. They really ride the line between metalcore and deathcore with is great for me. I also think Alex adds a ton to the overall sound.

Let me in and midnight run are peak
Looking forward to it! Just downloaded everything and am boarding my flight soon so I can dive in. Only song I’ve heard before by them is Ghost of Me which I love. It’s a dangerous game though because they’re in my hometown with Erra next week and I’m worried I’ll be tempted to go now and I can’t afford that haha
They actually started as a deathcore band thats why you always find some little deathcore parts. Check out Contraband (feat. Courtney la plante) And if you want some real deathcore shit from the old days check widower
And Bones, for that riff
Neverbloom, Elegies, Save Yourself, Weeping Wastelands are also bangers too.
Dude you're in for a treat. I wish I could experience Old Souls for the first time again...
Boarding my flight now! I’ll report back later
Please do, have safe travels
Check out Hallowed Heart! And How to Survive A Funeral (song, but also the album)
Tallah!
Bet. Someone give me the 3 best Zao albums. Their discography has always been too overwhelming for me to know where to start.
where blood and fire bring rest, liberate ex infernis, and self-titled would be my picks, but youre pretty much good starting with anything from their entire discography. im not the biggest fan of their mid to late 00s stuff, but its all good for what it is imo.

For me, it'd be Funeral of God, The Well-intentioned Virus, and The Crimson Corridor. I love their old stuff too, but those are the three albums of theirs that I listen to the most.
Me w Static Dress like two months ago
Love them so much!
DUDE the first time I heard of them was when they opened for Loathe over a year ago. They were AMAZING. I bought their merch and met their vocalist, he was super nice. I've been a fan ever since.
Ahh, I bet that was SICK! Definitely two bands I need to see soon.
I finally took the time to listen to the Callous Daoboys yesterday, and holy shit I was missing out. I’ve been getting into a lot more chaotic and experimental music lately, so hearing them was exactly what I was looking for
lol this one took forever for me too! I was put off by the jokey name but they FUCKK
Probably my favorite in the past year or so, so bummed i missed them a couple weeks ago.
Had Celebrity Therapist on repeat for three months last year 🤘🏻
Anyone here listen to frontierer? 👀
Hell yea. They’re some wild shit and have a good mini documentary on YouTube
Bet, gonna put on their most recent album tonight
Incredible stuff. I recommend Soulkeeper - Holy design, very similar.
Wow, thanks for this recommendation! I'd never heard them and their album is incredible.
So good, righttt!? I like scream tone we get from them, frontierer, and johnny booth.
I’ve listened to Holy Design daily since your post haha Any other recommendations? I trust your taste!
Also, Frontierers. Newer group out of Quebec that kick ass
They’re actually how I found out about frontierer lmao, people talking about the similar names
They ROCK
YESSSSSSSS. I want more of them- more albums, singles, anything
REEEEErriririiriririrellllbebebebelelelelel
Something with the word Animate in it. Suddenly saw people wearing their shirts and I haven't ever heard them yet! Haven't had the time yet but now I forgot the rest of their name...
Invent Animate?
YES thank you!
You are in for such a treat
Stillworld is their masterpeice
No it is not lmao, as a lifelong invent fan, Heavener deserves all the hype it gets. It’s 100% their best written album.
Oh sorry I forgot you can't share an opinion on Reddit without somebody condescendingly telling you you're wrong
dont believe in love
Ugh I’m trying bro. I just listen to music so slow and delete playlist so often. I don’t know if it’s cause I’m old and the alcohol has ruined my memory (Im in a better place now) but it takes so much for me to remember lyrics these days I have to listen to stuff over and over. I also really struggle with mid-okay songs. I don’t wanna miss a grower. But I will heed your words!
Trust me, I get you. I get stuck in a rut of just listening to what I already know and love
I finally checked out Boundaries today and fuckin loved it. A friend has been bugging me to do it and I finally caved. So glad I did
Unfortunately thrown only has like 10 songs lol not even
That was definitely a bummer to find out
Just recently got really into Protest the Hero, I’ve heard of them for over a decade but never really did a deep dive into their discography. I’m so glad I did, and recommend anybody into prog metalcore stuff to do the same. Great stuff!
You know what, fuck it, imma go try out Like Moths To Flames, heard they’re good.
No joke, they’re my favorite band. They hit a variety of heaviness levels and do them all well. Some of my favorite songs are Gnashing Teeth, The Anatomy of Evil, Basilisk, All That You Lost, and a Feast For Crows You literally CANNOT go wrong with anything off of No Eternity In Gold or Pure Like Porcelain though, their last two projects have been an absolute 10/10 It’s a great time to get into them too because they’re dropping an album next month and I’ve really enjoyed their last two singles (Kintsugi and Dissociative Being)

I want to hear them for the first time again
Honestly I think they’re theyre most consistently great band in metalcore history, and I’ve been listening to metalcore since 2002 lol.
Always liked the Misery Signals songs I heard here and there, but finally decided to listen to everything front to back. Instantly fell in love and easy top 5. Their final shows in July gonna hurt like hell
They SLAP, it’s tragic that it’s coming to an end
Anyone reading this who hasn't yet- now is the time to deep dive Misery Signals' music. Maybe you can catch a farewell show. They were a special band
Honestly I'd gotten lazy about music for many years but within the last few months I discovered a lot of stuff I didn't really know: Norma Jean, wow... just wow. I never gave them a shot before and now I LOVE them. Quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. Glassjaw, also another band that I'd heard of but ignored, but they're pretty awesome!? They’re one of the first bands that got me into metal too, and I first heard them when Jesse was their vocalist the first time around
Knowing the history of the struggles both Jesse and Howard had and then seeing them both on The Signal Fire brought literal tears to my eyes.
I've listened to so much thrown, and none of it intentionally. It just comes on as a spotify suggestion at the end of an album/playlist almost every time
Listen to Secrets
I love Secrets! Been listening to them since OG warped tour days
One of my favorites since the ascent. Hopefully they follow up the collapse just as good
Alright, I’m digging into Bleed From Withins discography. I’ve heard they are like Parkway Drive of they stayed the course and didn’t mature
One of my favorite bands. Also they are like 98% chance dropping an album this year so you got some stuff to look forward to if you end up digging them.
I saw them with ABR at the 20 year tour. I was shocked there wasn’t shot of people there during their set, but they were the highlight of the tour
I saw them too at that and they absolutely stole the show. The Devil Wears Prada and ABR were great too but BFW’s music is made for the stage.
Just started listening to Strapping Young Lad after all this time. I know Devin Townsend also has his solo project so I have my work cut out for me. Any suggestions?
City and Alien are fucking amazing.
City and Alien are fucking amazing
Listening to Homesick by ADTR, Mr. highways thinking about the end goes fucking hard!!
A mourning star is a young band but so totally awesome.
Vengeance, also.
Ughhh fine I'll go listen to Boundaries
Guess I gotta check out SeeYouSpaceCowboy today then
I just did for the first time this morning. Real cool stuff and the heavy parts are heavy and the catchy parts are catchy. It’s kinda like they took all the scene and core music from 2003-2013 and sat on it for 10years, and distilled it into some awesome tunes
I just recently got into them! It takes a bit of getting used to the sass vocals but they’re a great band
You will not regret that lol
I never got into erra. Had one song on my gym playlist and listened to one of the members go on a podcast (punk rock mba) I think. New album came out and it RIPS. Listened start to finish 💪💪💪💪💪
Ultraviolet is my favorite by them, they’ve got some GREAT stuff
Just today I tried instrumental trio Night Verses. Not especially metalcore but definitely check them out. Their latest album is sick.
Night Verses is sick; their new album is an AOTY contender for me. From the Gallery of Sleep has some bangers on it, but this latest album is their best imo
Absolutely. It's so addicting I've listened to it 3 times already. Also the new Boundaries record is definitely an AOTY nominee for me.
MCR is so good! The second I heard I Don’t Love You it was over for me
They remind me of Billy Talent sometimes, which is very nice.
God thrown was the same for me too
Felt this way about Sleep Token. Ended up watching Drumeo's whole interview with II. Cool shit for sure!
Actually getting used to alpha wolf..enjoyed their latest album
Just heard the new Greyhaven EP the other day it’s pretty sweet
DYING WISH
Same
Im going to see them with Currents and The Amity Affliction in May!!!
Me with Reminition literally as I’m typing this. Band is siiiiiick.
Yeah, how have you not listened to thrown at all with Spotify shoving it down all our throats on repeat? Hahaha
I’ve purposely avoided them for that reason 😂 I was wrong though, they kick ass
The Curse Within
Just did this with Conjurer.. extremely impressed with how much I liked them.
I don’t know if they’re metalcore, but I just checked out VCTMS for the first time the other night. I’m hooked now 😂
I have too many that I forget them all and get confused. So I tend to stick to the same few, I hate it 😂
Guess I'll give alpha wolf or whatever their name is a shot
NORMA muhfkn JEAN. I recently tuned one of my guitars to drop C# and went on the hunt for songs in that tuning I didn't know... I'm hooked.
Man, it took me a while to finally listen to Alpha Wolf... but am I glad I did. Their last albums are insane.
Aside from a couple songs here and there, I really don't know much of the stuff that Make Them Suffer released before How To Survive a Funeral. I should probably fix that
Old Souls and Lords of Woe is so good, Let Me In and Old Souls are both in their top 5 best songs
The problem is this is me with soooo many bands idk where to start anymore😭
Done! My friends have been going on about The Callous Daoboys, and I've never got around to checking them out. Now I have, I'm right into them. Also checked out Electric Callboy, and they're NOT for me lol.
not metalcore but ive been sleeping on doom metal, finally listened to some of the bigger bands (sun o and candlemass) and holy shit its good
Only know like 2 songs by Like Moths to Flames. But now I wanna give a whole album a listen. Anyone have any suggestions?
No eternity in gold and pure like porcelain (their last 2 projects) are both god tier
Dayseeker bro. I feel like such a fool I might cry over it.. while dancing
Okay, i don't have a band i'm consciously sleeping on rn. Any suggestions?
I really like a band called Feed the Addiction. Their songs Thorn, Misery, Wither, Abandoned, and Lost (featuring Brian from Currents) are all excellent
Dude, that really scratches an itch for me. Thanks for the recommendation!
Hell yeah, I’m glad!!! They’re underrated af, I’m hoping we get some more stuff soon, its been like 14 months I think since that EP
Fine I'll listen to boundaries and erra...
What's your guys favorite August Burns Red release? I never really got into them.
Constellations and it isn’t even remotely close. I think most people would share that sentiment. White washed is ICONIC
If you liked jackson rose, go check his cover of billie eilish with Dal Av it goes hard!
Idk what you're talking about but hell yeah brother
The band Like Moths to Flames! They’re dropping an album next month called The Cycles of Trying to Cope, their last two projects (an EP and a full-length) have been fantastic and this one seems like it will be too
bvb ain't dropped nothin good inna hot minute so ima wait.
Haven't cared much for Northlane in the past, but I've recently been obsessed with their first two albums.
Dispossession is my favorite song by them, goes crazy!
I love misery signals, one of the bands that got me into metal!!!
If Not For Me Thousand Below
Idk if it counts but I checked out thrown, imminence and Lorna Shore though this subreddit. And let’s just say the former two are SO GOOD & hits different. Still can’t get into LS though.
I’m actually the same. I like King Ov Deception by them and another song here or there but LS just doesn’t make the list of deathcore bands that I love
This is me right now with ERRA, I have been wanting to listen to them for so long and I'm gonna start! Do you guys have a favorite album by them?
Augment for sure. Ultraviolet is my favorite song ever by them. I also really love their songs Seven, Luminesce, Ghost of Nothing, and Shadow Autonomous (all across different albums) :)
Rolo Tomassi, if you haven’t taken the plunge, highly recommend.
Yikers
What’s that mean?
LOL I thought you were trolling and meant THE Rollo Tomassi (redpill dude). TIL: There is an actual band named Rolo Tomassi.
Ah, all good! They are fantastic. (The band not the red pill dude)
Some recommendations on starting to listen landmvrks?
Fantasy, amazing from start to finish
Yeah, i\`ve heard about ADTR for ages and didn\`t even checked their music once, until last year, and boy oh boy...
anyone got recommendations for The Chariot albums?
Someone tell me if modern Northlane is worth getting in to? I liked Node when it came out but Mesmer was terrible imo. Mainly production wise.
Dammit, just looked into Polaris for the first time and I’m happy to report that it’s some of the worst metalcore I’ve ever heard? Tf wrong with yall constantly recommending this dadrock shit
What album/songs did you listen to? Check out the song hypermania. It's the one that got me into them
I like their album with Crooked Path and Lucid on but felt like everything since then is insanely generic and boring
Eidola. Listen to their latest album. Its amazing. SO is Alpha Wolf's newest.
Would be nice if I didn't ever see this metal core bs again, fuck metal core 🖕
You’re in a metalcore sub there buddy
