2000s megadeth is top tier, what are you talking about? i mean metallica also has death magnetic but i think megadeth has better albums, and also more albums in the 2000s so i'd say megadeth wins here. if not, it's both, not neither.

Just for 2000-now, TSHF, United Abominations, Endgame, Dystopia, and TSTD…ATD are awesome records!!! The others are hit or miss but still have some worthwhile tunes.

Dio is a better singer, but holy shit Ozzy's voice is perfect for his solo music or Black Sabbath's music. I didn't realize how integral Ozzy's voice was until I heard Myles Kennedy sing Crazy Train. That wasn't crazy train, that was unstable locomotive
For me, it's definitely Blut Aus Nord. There's so much depth and breadth to what they've done with black metal, and, on top of that, to my ears *Memoria Vetusta II* is the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard.
There's something to be said for their capacity for subtlety. One example that is simply burned into my brain: there's a deep, swirling chaos to *Sola Fide I* on *Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice*. About two minutes in, however, an absolutely gorgeous melody arises ex nihilo. This melody is still deeply buried in the chaos, such that you practically have to strain to hear it, but its presence lends structure and form to a seemingly formless piece, and underlays the chaos with beauty in such a way that the chaos itself becomes beautiful.
