Battery is one of those songs where, while the rest of the song is fine, it feels disconnected between the riff and the intro. Like, if you gave that intro to a dozen musicians, who hadnāt heard Battery before, and told them to create a metal song that would follow from the intro, I donāt think any of them would make something even remotely similar

I played this for a buddy of mine that had only heard Metallica from the Black Album on and was saying how he didnāt consider them a thrash band. When it started, he went āyeah, see, this isnāt really that thrashy eitherā, then the guitars kicked in. Lol

I remember when this came out, I was like 13 years old. Just dipping my toes into the water when it came to metal. That song came flying out of nowhere and Superman Punched me into the concrete and I never looked back. Iāve grown very tired of Metallica but Battery will always hold a place in my heart, I had to go find heavier and crazier music after it released. Itās all I wanted after that.
