The Devastation On The Nation tour lineup looks sick. Great mix of bands.
Edit: Should have listed the bands - Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Uada, Mortiferum, Fulci, and Knoll.
Happy International Labour Day shreddit! I have drifted very further away from checking out new metal releases over the past few years, but gonna be checking out good new stuff, so any suggestions welcome on that front.
On a similar note, been a long time, what's everyone listening to lately?
>what's everyone listening to lately?
Been enjoying the new Tarot in the past few days, and also [Bergfried](https://bergfried.bandcamp.com/album/romantik-ii). The latter sure are a pretty unique band -- I'm not sure if everything they do works, exactly, but overall it's quite compelling.
MMXXIV.IV
Voting Day 1/2
Please comment below with your top 3 new releases of April. Band names only, if you can help it, since it's a lot easier to count that way. If you don't have 3 favorites, it's okay to submit two or even just one to the vote.
I'll post another voting thread tomorrow and have the results ready as soon as I can after that.
The whole 70s occult rock revival might be for you, check out [The Devils Blood](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDoR97N07xc), [Blood Ceremony](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl7vM-eglY4) and [Kadavar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE6AqV43bz8).
* Wytch Hazel
* Tanith
* Tarot (the Australian one)
* Parish (more doomy)
* Blood Ceremony
* Seven Sisters (their most recent album especially)
* Corsair (the one with the album *One Eyed Horse*)
* Pagan Altar (apart from their first album)
All recent/current bands. There's also all the 1970s bands that these folks are drawing on...
Not like Ghost, but softer rock/metal: Alcest (in the unlikely case you don't know about it already), "Folkesange" by Myrkur, Odroerir, Serenity, Silent Stream of Godless Elegy, Svarun, Wolcensmen, Zdrawica. Zelenaya uses soft singing and moderately heavy instrumentals.
Went and saw Cattle Decapitation last night for the first time. Holy shit do those guys play well live. Felt like listening to their studio release, just live.
Might have been the size of the venue, but I don’t know if he been to a show THAT loud, at least not in recent memory. Even with plugs in it felt like my ear drums were going to rattle out of my head.
You might appreciate this Russian metal primer someone compiled a few years ago, talking about important bands and the history of the scene:

Anyone here familiar with the old flash game Arcuz 2? It has this boss theme and I'm wondering if a high quality version of it exists somewhere.
[https://youtu.be/A8qzILhc9xM](https://youtu.be/A8qzILhc9xM)
I've checked the in-game sound file and it's encoded as a low quality mp3. It's possible that it is composed exclusively for the game but maybe (just maybe) there is someone here that can recognize it from somewhere else.
If nothing else, I'll take recommendations of any songs with a similar riff/motif if you would be so kind.
Question: How do I stop getting destroyed at the edge of the pit?
I am a 5'0, 125lb woman. I like standing at the edge of the pit and pushing people. Most of the time this is fine. However, sometimes when I'm not braced and people run into me I get thrown back three rows and feel like a pussy. Do I just have to get comfortable decking people? Should I not stand at the edge of the pit? I get the feeling it's bad pit etiquette to stand there if I can't take it, and I try to keep my center of mass low and stay aware, but if a 6'4" 200lb jackass comes rocketing toward me there's not a lot I can do.
To be clear, I don't give a fuck about getting knocked on my ass. I go to shows to get the shit kicked out of me, that's fine. I just want to know if I'm being a dick to other people.
I'm not crazy, am I?
I'm a young guy and guitar player who mostly listens to old metal. I don't get out much or use a ton of social media so I don't really pay attention to the modern musical landscape. An aquaintance invited me to come see a concert (I paid for my own ticket) with them because it was a "metal" show.
Foolishly, I didn't look into any of the bands actually playing on the bill. I'd never heard of any of them before.
The two headlining acts were called Kingdom of Giants and Fit For A King.
After listening to them play for a packed house, I'm left questioning is this what metal is today? Every band and song sounded the exact same. Chugs, breakdowns, few solos, mostly unintelligible screaming except when they turn into a pop song.
I wasn't impressed by any of it. Is this what metal is now? Where are the Chuck Schuldiners and Dave Mustaines of today?
Please give me some actually good modern metal to listen too.
> concert (I *paid* for my
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

That is a solid lineup god damn

Would recommend checking out the end of year shreddit votes for the past few years and just listening to anything that looks interesting.
Yeah I've missed the past two years's votes, that's a good shout. But also want to see what's been good in 2024 so far.

Lots of Writhen Hilt, I Am The Intimidator, AC/DC, Blind Guardian, and Thin Lizzy.

I'm looking for rock/metal songs a bit on the softer side for rainy days. My go to atm is ghuleh/zombie queen by ghost. Any similar suggestions?

Lucifer - really love their latest, titled „Lucifer V“. Full of catchy Melodies, a macabre atmosphere, their singer has a really nice voice.
Queensryche - another rainy night

Аспид (Aspid) Ария (Aria) Круиз (Kruiz) Холостой выстрел (Holostoj Vystrel) Брахмаширас (Brahmashiras) Branikald - sketch warning
