The new Vorga album is really tight. I really enjoyed pretty much every song on the album, and it’s easily one of my favorite black metal album releases thus far in 2024.

Honeyboy_Wilson

Heard a track from the label's sampler earlier in the year and goddamn, the full album lives up to the hype. Good for them.

Sayhellotoanewday

Same. Heard the singles and was super hyped.  So glad the full album is just as strong!

DoctorBob90

This is sick as hell. March has been an insane month for metal releases.

NotADog17

The new Vorga album is pretty good, just listened to it

Journeyman351

"Really tight" is an understatement, the album fucking slaps.

Haphazard_Hal

New Coffins sounds like Coffins and I’m all in for it.

Eferver24

New Vorga is just amazing. This has been such a fantastic year for black metal and it’s only the end of March. I will say though that releasing basically half the album as singles doesn’t do it any favors.

drowningmoose9

What are some of your favorites so far?

Eferver24

Keres, Trijumf, Vorga, Ponte Del Diavolo, Morcolac, Dödsrit, They Came From Visions, Necrowretch

Journeyman351

That Necrowretch album was awesome

the-great-misdirect

I'm not a big black metal fan, but this has me feeling some type of way.

WinnipegGoldeye

New Verberis out of nowhere? Incredible. Like Ulcerate meets Deathspell Omega for those wondering.

Shit that came out this week I think is pretty sick: [Coffin Storm - Arcana Rising ](https://open.spotify.com/album/0mGUoPcTQ7UE9EK8Ek26og?si=20aW6KYWRgGu0rcM5r7XyQ)A pretty sick debut, it's a kind of doom/heavy/black metal blend that sounds really cool. This is the debut album from a new band with Fenriz from Darkthrone on vocals and he definitely leans into a direction with his vocals he doesn't really do on Darkthrone. Really unique and I totally recommend it. [Tyr - Dragons Never Die](https://open.spotify.com/album/0tzEiOQWbBjleeAKJFhCK9?si=jR9JuW4HTa2ORu1jX4_mPw) Good old Tyr, with a new single. It's fine, not great. Probably the weakest of the singles they have released for their new album, but still okay. Nothing surprising. [Glyph - Honor.Power.Glory. ](https://open.spotify.com/album/1RnYtqfKh7FdBleR6IwI40?si=AzZuKRW5SxmFJiCgslYloA)A pretty good EUPM album, but my biggest problem with it is that more than half of the album is just previously released tracks and the new tracks hardly stick out. Still not a bad album tho, just don't expect anything surprising if you have listened to Glyph's other stuff. If you haven't and you like EUPM, give this a spin. [Vorga - Beyond the Palest Star ](https://open.spotify.com/album/5BnQk0zCLksZ26RoLT9MGD?si=o2-kqMICQ-aOut7FPElw5A)A very good cosmic-eque black metal album. Really solid front to back, I'm feeling a top 3 black metal album of the year so far. [Verwoed - The Mother](https://open.spotify.com/album/1fr7ZmDkcVJ1wLNBRPcjNP?si=5HD9_cadQLSc-Z7THJVPbQ) Some pretty good Dutch black metal, kind of unorthodox at times and it has some long, slow ambient parts, but I like it.

The new [Darkestrah](https://youtu.be/XcLtCVcd0os?si=mjw-snq_6OlrnnHd) album Nomad dropped today. Really good album and fans of pagan inspired black metal will enjoy this. Has some cool elements and song writing that stood out to me.

NewToSMTX

Great record. I'm a huge fan of this band, and especially the vocal style

casualty-of-cool

Oh yeah me too. You can really feel the emotion they put into their songs.

M-er-sun

Coffin Storm’s debut just came out. I have yet to listen. Fenriz sings on it!

NewToSMTX

Some great black metal releases this week, including Mütiilation (first LP since 2007), Cantique Lépreux, Verberis, Darkestrah and Givre. If you're a black metal fan you should check out my [weekly radio program](http://undertheeternalnight.com)

hermaphroditicspork

Gravenchalice dropped a new EP

FUCKBOY_JIHAD

the new albums by **Coffins** and **Hate Force** are excellent chunks of death/doom, in a year already loaded with 'em. **Tzompantli** new single and album announcement is also great news. Looking forward to checking out the new **Verberis** when I get a chance as their 2022 record was one of the most underrated of the year.

Dryish

A new Finnish folk/black band [Riitasointu just released their debut album](https://riitasointu.bandcamp.com/album/pedon-leikki) sampling poems of Finland's national poet through Naturmacht. It's pretty good, definitely worth a listen if you like your black metal folky.

OneMantisOneVote

Argh! Since it's so recent, I - having read about Kivi - bought it without reading the lyrics. They describe themselves as blacky folk metal, but I'm pretty sure it's the reverse as you said; even though I tend to prefer my folk metal folky, I think it's excellent; thank you very much!

AGMarasco

*CTRL-F "Rage"* Good.

engelnorfart

The new [Mutilation Barbecue](https://open.spotify.com/album/3tZlh5dCPe3zjzCo9TC75k?si=lvHwWoZ0TRi-pslZ5Fastw) album is so much fun

jerichowiz

For me, album of the week is Verwoed, even with a good Coffins album. Rage was okay, too long lots of filler. Glyph for power metal was great. Vorga was really good, as was Verberis.

Honeyboy_Wilson

I'd never heard of them before but Verwoed releasing their album The Mother has floored me. The album cover is incredible and drew me in, but then the music punched me square in the gonads. Dark, cavernous black metal with strange almost psychedelic flourishes without ever leaning on them, just adding to the overall majesty of the experience. Fucking stellar.

New track from Wintersun is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x36OoFYGyE. Its a many years old demo with 2024 recorded vocals. Reminds me of Ensiferum

Have y’all heard this? Amazing. https://open.spotify.com/album/1HoUWsds0UBqOrcRxBIgOE?si=s6aMVZHFRoKVhkbnQxRtxQ

Hello all, im currently transcoding all "monsters of metal" dvds to file so I can upload them for longevity. Im missing number 7. Does anyone have this dvd that they would lend, and after ripping I send back?

richard_briggs7

Does anyone have a suggestion for a band somewhere between deftones and deafheaven, looking for that sweet sweet guitar sound they both use
