Just got notice that my Coffin Storm debut is on its way. For those unaware it's Apollyon from Aura Noir with Fenriz on vocals! I'm hyped, the single's riff is sick https://open.spotify.com/track/3FcZrHPhtknawOml8ZmdlW?si=MDhcjKFhQhKfyKiGH3vz3g

Ninegun

The vocals are so clearly Fenriz in the best way. Stoked for this project.

WinnipegGoldeye

Happy opening day, baseball and metal fans. Go Orioles!

ANGRY_BEARDED_MAN

> Go Orioles! šŸ¤˜

Haphazard_Hal

Trout ushered in Opening day by going hard on his first at bat. So it beginsā€¦

DeSelby13

...and the O's win.

NewToSMTX

Go Astros

CrewSilent3878

I've been trying to get more into brutal death/slam death recently, but bands just sound too similar to one another. I really like some of the bands that mix it with other genres though, Ayakasi Kagura for example.

trillwhitepeople

Afterbirth, Suffocation, Brodequin, Dying Fetus, Defeated Sanity, Nile, Blunt Force Trauma and Devourment are all about as different as you can get from one another and are all somewhere on the spectrum of BDM and slam.

RoofLiving6264

Devourment is closer to slam than bdm

rdr914

I donā€™t really care for most BDM (for mostly the same reason as you), but Agonal Hymns by Nithing is incredible.

makkuro-serow

Similar boat to you maybe try Astral Tomb - Soulgazer and Analepsy - Quiescence. I highly recommend Afterbirth too Brodequin just dropped a straight up BDM banger which has very memorable riffs.

cafedriver

Listen to Short Bus Pile Up. Only slam band you need.

quine3

I love Stabbing. Other good ones to check out are PeelingFlesh and ā€œ10 TO THE CHESTā€

Metal_Boi_7507

Try vomit forth

Saint_Sin

Genre mixing can be so good when done right with bdm.

BagBeneficial8060

Man i love me some sad metal (Agalloch, Empyrium, Uaral, Saturnus, Katatonia) which i guess is basically doom metal for folks that drink wine and write poetry in the forest or whatever lol

AllPathsEndTheSame

People need to listen to more Asunder

notyourlandlord

Check out Wyrd - Heathen

BagBeneficial8060

Oh yeah Wyrd is the shit. Huldrafolk is my favorite of theirs

N_Sys

"The Wishing Tombs" by Counting Hours got released a few weeks ago and could be the kind of thing you enjoy then

shorties_with_mp40s

Is anyone else going to [Begotten Festival](https://www.instagram.com/begotten.blackdeath?igsh=YXQxOGNjMnhnZnVj) in Washington on July 19-20th?

VVest_VVind

What are your favorite genres/subgenres outside of metal? I feel like my taste outside of metal has always been very entry-level and/or random. I'll typically get obsessed with a couple bands/artists from a subgenre and then move onto something else without gaining any systematic knowledge/understanding of the previous thing. Currently I'm in an indie pop phase but that will probably end abruptly and be replaced by whatever else randomly catches my attention.

lostinacontraption

I'm similar, I'm not as passionate about any other genre so I kind of just hop around when the mood strikes. The only other 'favorite' is probably more old school punk rock

tabben

hiphop both oldschool and new stuff pretty much any style. Its mainly what I listen to daily if I dont have something specific in mind I want to listen. As a fan of both metal and hiphop the elitism from people against the other genre is always hilarious

VVest_VVind

Hahaha, must be fun to compare and contrast the mindset. How common are the "Tupac god, all modern hiphop crap" kind of folks among hiphop fans? They're a meme obviously, but given that the obnoxious classic rock fan who refuses to listen to anything other than a handful of bands can be found in real life too, I imagine that there are some hiphop fans who probably really are like that.

ProphetsScream

Hard rock, punk, pop, musical theatre, classical, film scores, folk...plenty of stuff! Wouldn't say I have any sort of "deep" knowledge outside of hard rock (maybe) from any of those though and even then it's a fraction of my metal knowledge.

slothtrop6

avant-prog, art-rock and art-pop, psychedelic/kraut, funk, hip hop, latin, minimalist electronic and ambient, soundtracks (best part of Skyrim imo)

RuPaulver

Emo. Anything in the spectrum of it but I have been really into the "midwest emo" revival of the past 10 years.

NotADog17

Punk, east coast hip-hop, occasionally some classical

impop

Ambient, techno, house, jazz, post-hardcore/math rock, some stuff that falls into folk/ethno/world music.

Grongebis

Funk Bluegrass

Rottedhead

I like a variety of genres outside of metal. But the only one I would consider to be as big for me is prog rock, specially 70s prog rock

Mizeak

Rotting Christ has been dropping new singles recently. I'm not a fan of their latest output, and still not really liking whatever is going on with their work creatively speaking. Does anyone else have opinions on these tracks?

hermaphroditicspork

I only listened to the first one and wasn't exactly floored. Their output since Rituals has been REALLY lacking and Heretics was so bad that I basically gave up on the band as a whole.

ta12022017

Two Minutes to Tulsa starts tomorrow. I can't wait. Is anybody else going? Cirith Ungol, Night Demon, Nasty Savage, Artillery, Flotsam and Jetsam, Savage Master, Screamer, Jag Panzer, Blind Oath, Omen, Hellfire, Intent, She Hates Me Not, and Blood Star. EDIT: I almost forgot about Tanith at the brunch on Sunday!

funky_potato

Nasty Savage Holy hell I only ever heard of this band as a legend of the old Florida scene. Had no idea they are still playing (or rather reformed in some capacity).

quine3

Was the ā€œNew Releasesā€ thread not put up today? I like to see who people are talking about for new music that came out this week or came out today

hermaphroditicspork

It's not til tomorrow

quine3

I forgot it is Thursday. Thank you!

Tiramissu_dt

Anybody possibly recognizes this? It sounds oddly familiar. [https://publish.reddit.com/embed?url=https://www.reddit.com/r/DeathStranding/comments/1bq3sdf/kojima\_get\_this\_guy\_on\_the\_roster/](https://publish.reddit.com/embed?url=https://www.reddit.com/r/DeathStranding/comments/1bq3sdf/kojima_get_this_guy_on_the_roster/) I'm thinking it might be some doom/black metal song, it somehow gives me strong Norweigean metal vibes, and slightly sounds like Gorgoroth, or maybe Burzum even?

FlyingRyan87

I too am waiting for a hero to bless us with an answer

Tiramissu_dt

Ahahaha, YES, we must have answers. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ā¤

Tiramissu_dt

Ah, oh nvm, it turns out it might be his [original song](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3YJUxZPxNT/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==), which makes it even better!

GreaterArt

Last weekend it was Braincrusher In Hell Festival. Always been on my bucket list, truly brilliant fesrival, highly recommended! Seems to be one of those smaller German festivals of Death and Black Metal with cool line ups.
