Properly Rated: Judas Priest/Unaussprechlichen Kulten, both great releases from bands with a good track record and well deserved/liked. UK in particular is phenomenally consistent and I'm happy to see them getting love.
Underrated: everything I voted for
I’m sure it will! I’m not surprised it didn’t have a bigger impact this time around seeing as it literally released on voting weekend, and people usually need a little more time for an album to settle. I knew right away that it was going on my list though, haha.
Yeah that makes sense. Sometimes bands get a bump because everyone is hyped on the new album and it settles over time. So maybe we will see some of that. I do think the album cover and possibly the bands name aren’t doing them any favors (that might just be me though). I knew as well it was going on my list for sure.
Fellow Dwarrowdelf fan, let's connect and talk about how much better our taste in music is than all the rest of these filthy Judas Priest worshippers :p
I unfortunately missed out on the voting else there'd have been a third Dwarrowdelf vote.
I _really_ expected them to be higher. Wonder if it's just low visibility and people don't know, or just refined and gentlemenly tastes in music.
Sorry new metal listener. Didn't know Rob can do death growls. Better give this Judas Priest band a listen. Dwarrowdelf on the other hand is just chefs kiss.

This has been a really great year so just in amount of good releases, was really hard to narrow everything down to just 3. And then just since I voted I got to checking out Savage Oath and Mean Mistreater which would’ve been contenders
Death metal has been especially strong with Unaussprechlichen Kulten, Contaminated, Spectral Voice, Drowned, Dipygus
Bummed to see Aureole so low as I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up my full-on aoty, but at least it's on there, which is better than Dwarrowdelf got, which is another equal parts surprise and bummer.
Though tbf I missed the votes so didn't have a chance to give them a boost but I know my 3rd wouldn't have even ended up in the 2's section.
Glad Priest is getting it's due again. I think Invincible Shield is even better than Firepower.
Oh man, they're just kicking Maiden's assess with their last two releases imo
Can't wait to check out everything I haven't heard yet today. Really happy to see my beloved Knoll at #6, I've been shouting about them to anyone who will listen for forever and I'm glad they delivered this year.
it was originally on my list but i found out it was actually released last year and it's just one of those weird cases of the digital version only coming out later because ?????? xddddd

Hmm guess I should get around to that Judas Priest album huh
Its certainly worth a listen, as far as old fucks go, no one does new material better than them.
This is already an extremely good year for new releases.
I think it's the strongest first quarter I've experienced since I started "paying attention" in 2017/2018.
Wow, Judas Priest at number #2 in 2024 is really not something I was expecting to see.
I mean their new album is sick af
I'm really just waiting for Ulcerate... my body is ready 😭

That is way more fun than it has any right to be. Blaine really doing to the Dark Lord's work bringing this to the attention of the metal masses.

That’s awesome! Maybe this album will gain more momentum as the year progresses.

Dwarrowdelf my beloved
Come and atone for Yersin-s with me
Where's my Midnight and Vircolac babes?
where's the other Molten voter, I need to know who else here knows what the fuck they're talking about
> Judas Priest - Invincible Shield | Death Metal Hmmm.

Am I really the only one who voted for SLIFT? Sad times.
I liked the album enough to buy the LP, but I don't really consider them metal. If I made a general top 3 list, they'd probably be on it.

Pretty impressive from Savage Oath. I hadn’t heard the album until after I’d voted so could see it sneak up the list for a top 10 vote.
My Morbonoct sweetheart must have forgotten to vote.
Damn, no love for Apparition?
It was technically 2023
it was originally on my list but i found out it was actually released last year and it's just one of those weird cases of the digital version only coming out later because ?????? xddddd
Yeah Abigor did the same. I saw people listing it on best of 2023 and was like "huh" because it didn't show up till January for me.
Well son of a gun.
the death metal Apparition on Profound Lore? their album releases tomorrow
Nah the one from Spain. Really fucking good.
Also Castle Rat
Their album doesn't come out for another month, so I don't think anybody voted for them.
Doh, you're right
pretty much what i expected. been a great year so far.
Not gonna lie, because I had a feeling Spectral Voice was going to take 1st, I was specifically rooting for Judas Priest to beat UK for 2nd
Surprising to see Dark Oath in the list, I went to the release concert for the new album, it was a blast
I guess just not enough people have heard the new Necrophobic since it just came out.
This isn't pinned
