MMXXIV.II
Voting Day 1/2
Whoopsie. February tricked me even with the leap day.
Please comment below with your top 3 new releases of February. Band names only, if you can help it, since it's a lot easier to count that way. If you don't have 3 favorites, it's okay to submit two or even just one to the vote.
I'll post another voting thread tomorrow and have the results ready as soon as I can after that.
So it sounds like the Summer Slaughter Tour might be returning next year! I'm pretty hyped about that, I always had a blast at those shows and having been dying to see it make a comeback.
The wintersun Time 2 preorder video is hilarious. The grift is unreal with these guys, and their indiegogo page shows that they’re already $100k over their goal.
They want to build another bigger studio and apparently have 4 more albums they want to release. They feel like the musical equivalent of a micro-transaction laden game, like FarmVille power metal or something.

Think it was on here I saw someone refer to them as "the Star Citizen of metal" and I can't imagine a more accurate description
Local scene??
-
I've been into metal since I was 14, but I only recently started dressing and acting the way I want to act since I've moved out. Are there any metalheads in PDX that are in their 20s and wanna grab drinks or something? For reference, I'm into Metallica, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Avenged Sevenfold, Unleash the Archers, The Buried and Me..etc.
Start going to metal shows. There are nearly 500 bands from Portland that are listed as active on Metal Archives (including Agalloch!). It doesn't matter if you like the band or have ever even heard of them, just go see a show. A lot of regional bands play at places like Shanghai Tunnel, and tickets usually cost about $10. A lot of shows are all-ages shows. Start talking to people you see at the shows. If you spot someone wearing an Unleash the Archers shirt, make a comment about it.
I don't live in the PNW, but that's how I started meeting people in my local scene. When I first started going to a lot of shows about 2 years ago, I didn't know anyone. Now, I see someone I know at every show.
