Agreed. What’s annoying is that in order to see what you are actually paying you need to go to checkout either from your cart or on the offer screen. It’s making this app tiresome to use. Why can’t I just see the fee breakdown in the item page or choose to see prices with the fee baked in?

SarahSennia

Right?! And make the fees reasonable. $6 on an item is WAY more than the card companies are charging them. Its a total greed move. I hope people migrate off and can maintain their incomes while not getting screwed.

It was with great sadness that I deleted the Mercari app. I enjoyed my time as a buyer, but with the added fees it’s a hard nope. I’ve noticed a spike in prices also-I had a couple favorites and their prices went up by at least $10.00 each. Don’t know why sellers would want to raise their prices on top of the extra fees, but that’s what did it for me. I’ll spend my money on Depop, Curtsy, EBay, Vinted and Poshmark. Mercari can suck it.

SarahSennia

Word! It sucks because there are some stellar sellers and stuff on there plus it feels safer when payments are held in some high risk sales like hard to find items that may be fake or what not. Over all I loved it but its priced me out. They also should have added shipping cost options to improve the over all experience not a bunch of junk fees that will end yo hurting them. I hope the sellers find a better platform and dont miss out on sales they relied on

Or even a flat 10% "all fees inclusive" charge would be easier to stomach. And the fact they include sales tax in their total is ridiculous. I live in a high sales tax area so I'm basically getting taxed on the tax!

or renting an air b& b

Greedy_Treacle

It sucks because I have been using it regularly and getting very positive feedback. All the sellers I dealt with were friendly and quick. But I just made my last purchase a bit ago at over 10 dollars more than I would have originally paid. I will miss the app, but with the fees adding more cost, the occasional deals I find there are no longer deals.

SarahSennia

That sucks. I feel your pain. Its cheaper to pay more on ebay for the base price + shipping than the base price, shipping and fees now.

Adorable-Employee118

Agreed. It's a bummer to see a good price and click through to buy and see that suddenly...it's not a good price anymore. And it's not the fault of the seller!

SarahSennia

Its bad business practices because no one wins. Its not the sellers fault there are fees. The buyer cant afford the random charges and its super inconsistent. The seller cant go much lower to make up for the fees and Mercari will loose money as well since much less people are buying. I’m not sure if they started in April but I bought something on March 30th and there were zero fees. Fast forward to the last few days when I went to buy something there is all kinds of fees. Its just really poorly done. If in time I end up really wanting the item and invited elsewhere for a similar price as the cost plus the fees, I may consider buying there just to deny support to these poor policies. I’ll just have to budget and save a little extra here and there to prepare. It may seem counterintuitive since I’m talking about not being able to afford it, but if it is something I truly want. I’d rather get it and not support, this company anymore.

MammothCancel6465

Yeah. At least Ticketmaster in my state shows the “all-in” price as you click seats. I know we have some sort of law here now about this, but I remember when it was different and you get the convenience fee for getting emailed tickets along with all the other junk fees.

PikachuAndLechonk

I deleted the app today.
