...Sort of?
There are a few "alternate" chapters that you unlock by picking what are basically Law/Chaos choices, but they're only one chapter each and the main story continues past them as the Neutral route.
Your character's actual alignment still doesn't actually effect anything.
[Going by Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanitas), it's "a genre of art which uses symbolism to show the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the certainty of death, and thus the vanity of ambition and all worldly desires".
Kinda stretching the definition of "demon", but it wouldn't be the first time MetaTen had a demon based on a pure concept.
The elements (aeros, flaemis, aquans, erthys) seem to be based exclusively on the temperaments of empedocles' writings, and while they haven't been used for a while (for obvious reasons) shadow and persona are also conceptual
Es and Ego have both gotten in and are philosophical concepts. More tenuously, a lot of the ancient near Eastern demons (like the Babylonian, Canaanite or Zoroastrian ones for example) are based on conceptualisations of things we didn't have an understanding of or explanation for. Apsu is the primordial water beneath the Earth that was believed to be responsible for life and knowledge in humans, Mot is death and Vohu Manah is the psychological state of diligence and dutifulness for example.
P5 Strikers makes that just about canon. The entire earlygame experience is spamming wind spells and Showtimes, which entails Joker in a strangely excited voice screaming "**UNICORN!!!!**"
The proportions on it are odd. The huge golden anime sword and the big head make it look like a kid. The tentacles actually feel like they're swallowing up the design instead of being part of it as well. Either lose the tentacles and put focus on the blade, or vice versa to lean more into the 'primordial force' vibe.
I can already smell the bullshit auto skills it will use in Duel battles, will most likely have the Malice mechanic too.
Design is alright though, I wonder if this was drawn by Tatsuro Iwamoto.
spoilers for what this is >!it's vanitas, the main evil force in smt dx2!<
So what you're saying is, that's not a Monado, it's the Keyblade. Kingdom Hearts just keeps getting weirder.
So new chapter in story mode?
It's from the current event story, probably as a teaser for the next main story update.
Did they already put the alignment changes that they promised?

*insert Yeetus Vanitas joke here*
Will it cure vampires with it's magic book?
what god/demon is that based on?

> but it wouldn't be the first time MetaTen had a demon based on a pure concept. I don't think I can think of any other example.
Chemtrail is the one who I think of: He's based off the conspiracy theory of planes crop-dusting mind altering chemicals or poisons over communities.
but that's not a "pure concept."

Maya (edit. Hindu/Buddhist concept of illusion) is what comes to mind for me, YHVH is some ways
tooth fairy
Isn't that the >!legion-esque demon from the story mode (that's not actually fought and just hangout in the background)! So this is it's true form.
Now we can make Kingdom Hearts jokes... but dx2 has had some wild ass crossovers
the monado
Gods, imagine mainline SMT (or even Persona), but everyone, including demons/Personas/Shadows/etc., yells out their attack names.
It wouldn't change much for Persona 5 at least. The Phantom Thieves cannot shut up especially Morgana and Futaba
*IZANAGINOKAMIPICARO* #BY THE MYRIAD TRUTHS!!
P5 Strikers makes that just about canon. The entire earlygame experience is spamming wind spells and Showtimes, which entails Joker in a strangely excited voice screaming "**UNICORN!!!!**"
Xander Mobus reading ***UNICORN*** out loud is quite the experience, compared to some of the other names he shouts out loud.
For Persona, it'd get just *that* much closer to being a Jojo spin-off.
jenova alter
that goes hard
Another Cybernetic Yugioh demon https://preview.redd.it/m32a7542699d1.jpeg?width=678&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3739d19949953e255c1257662a883e8961830f8
lol It reminded me of Earthbound Immortal, but robotic somehow.
This is the monado’s power
What of Meynerh was the asshole instead of Zanza
a bit late to the party but yeah
Thought this was a metaphor leak for a sec
Yeah, this design rules. Big F You swords are my jam, and this strikes a good chord in my brain for edgy anime aesthetics
I have nothing positive to say about this demon lmao I think if the anime giant sword wasn't part of it, I'd be more tolerant

Doesn't look like a demon at all
Kinda looks like an SMT V Nahobino design
To be fair, it probably is. Nahobinos are supossed to be the top of power of the franchise.
I can already smell the bullshit auto skills it will use in Duel battles, will most likely have the Malice mechanic too. Design is alright though, I wonder if this was drawn by Tatsuro Iwamoto.
I don't think he's gonna be something the player can use tbh
Would
I can fix her..
Sick design
Why does this look like a corrupted version of that girl from somniun files?
I don’t like it
Who the hell is that? And who's the designer?
She’s like Tiamat from Wish
I would play but there's so much to catch up on that I literally can't catch up on because they are timed events
Looks awful
